Chaos he/him Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Alright, I'll definitely confront her about it. You want to be careful, but you can just say it like, "I have a lot of other classes and obligations on my time. How am I supposed to manage my time properly to balance all of these with such short notice?" What if you had an event to put on, or another longer project? 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 You should play a similar prank on him tomorrow.
+Slowswift Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) You should play a similar prank on him tomorrow. Well, it's extremely hard to trick a trickster, especially when The Tricking Day was literally yesterday. Though I have assured him revenge will be forthcoming. My personal philosophy is thus: "Revenge is ice cream." Edited April 1, 2016 by Slowswift

Kaymyth she/her Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 It has potential. The coworker I've been training to take my place in my old job came to work this morning to find that her newly-anthroporphized stapler had brutally murdered a posty note. 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Is he a light sleeper? If not, you could always wait until you're going on a road trip through unfamiliar territory and give him a nice Snidely Whiplash mustache just before he has somewhere important to be.

The coworker I've been training to take my place in my old job came to work this morning to find that her newly-anthroporphized stapler had brutally murdered a posty note. Hee! Careful, though. He's on this site (he's never online, but it pays to be careful). Edited April 1, 2016 by Slowswift
Oversleep Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) The only jokes I have encountered showed up in my FB feed. The only one which got me was about HBO cenzoring all Game Of Thrones sex and violence scenes. My family and I made precisely zero jokes EDIT: I just remembered this is Bad Day thread. My post was not meant to bear any implication of emotion towards mentioned zero jokes. Edited April 1, 2016 by Oversleep
Left he/him Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 So I'm working at a Homeschool Convention in Cinncinati right now. My feet are killing me, and I've got a severe case of butterfingers, I've been dropping things like a hero in an action movie drops one liners. Also, my nose and throat aren't completely normal yet from a cold I had two weeks ago, so I'm having s very hard time vocalizing. That's a problem since I'm trying to sell people stuff. That being said, I'm actually having a really good time. Boy did I pick the wrong shoes though...
kaellok he/him Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Long story ensues! tl;dr -- my birthday is in a few days, and it's going to be the worst one I've had in a decade because of reasons. Spoilered to save space My birthday is on Wednesday. I don't do anything on my birthday for my birthday because growing up, the best one I ever had was an accidental after-thought, and treating it as a normal day is honestly better than that. My friends know this. They also know approximately when it is (some remember the exact day, which makes me feel bad, because I can barely remember when my own is, and not theirs at all without the use of Facebook.) We also get together basically every Wednesday. And I've been depressed as hell the last couple months. Birthday being on a Wednesday was already filling me with trepidation. One friend has a birthday a month before mine. She's been wanting to do a Godfather party for some time (like, half a year or more) ever since she learned how many of us haven't seen the movie. Around the time of her birthday, she was talking about finally hosting it. But she didn't. No, she waited until a week before my birthday to decide to do it on my birthday (technically, to do it on Wednesday, which is the one day of the week when most of us generally have the evenings free and can hang out and do things.) I was feeling too upset to meet up on Wednesday, so stayed home and brooded. I don't well with emotions, so this whole thing of feeling them is hard--especially over something that I genuinely thought I had stopped caring about. So, I spent the night thinking about every possible reason this could be (everything from, "surprise birthday party!" to "completely ignored/forgot about the conversations we had only 3 weeks before about when my birthday is and what the plans were for it"). So, Thursday around lunch, I texted her asking if she realized. And got a near instant apology, and saying she'd move the date. Which makes it all feel worse. Of course, she waited until 3 hours ago to change the Facebook posting to indicate that it has simply been 'CANCELED DUE TO JAMES'S BIRTHDAY!' 3 days it took to make that update, and I was expecting a new date, but no. And of course my plans on said birthday are to do nothing. So now I'll be the guy that made her cancel her party so that instead we can do absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. I don't even know why this is all bothering me so much, because it's now shifted to where my friends will be thinking, 'This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules?' When I know they won't--they're actual good people (unlike most of the friends I had in the past). And even the friend who had made the plans didn't do it maliciously or out of any ill intent at all, and I know that, but it's still upsetting. From the moment they made the post, it was impossible for there to be any good outcome that I can see, and I've spent literal hours doing nothing more than struggling over this over the past few days. And it gets to be rehashed all over again once she finally does host her Godfather party--or for all eternity if she never does. I hate it, and it's stupid, and I hate it. Also work moved a video conference to the night of my birthday (at 1030pm), my boss has scheduled the in-person annual review of my performance for the year on the day of my birthday, and my apartment complex said that they're going to be replacing the roof on the apartment starting on, you guessed it, my birthday. I can get out of the video conference, but that I have to is annoying. I already saw the report my boss gave regarding my review, where the text was nothing but glowing praise and the numbers in all categories are 8 out of 10, which pissed me off considering the amount and quality of work that I do. Oh, and I found out that a very good work-friend has plans for me for my birthday at work, because I'm very good at accidentally sneaking up on people. All in all, it's not even my birthday yet, but it's the worst one I've had in literally a decade. We'll see if it manages to top being deployed to Kosovo, or maybe some kind of miracles happen and it's not just the worst. 1
Oversleep Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I am supposed to be a programmer. Why do I struggle so much even with installing Java and IDE? That's like, my fourth or fifth time installing it and every time something different goes wrong.Do I really bear an anti-technology curse? I'm gonna run with being an unitiated wizard whose powerful aura makes technology malfunction. Yeah. That's what I'll be telling them. "I'm sorry, m'am, but our server crashed despite my best efforts. It may be cursed." 1

Seonid he/him Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Ok - I have four weeks left until I graduate. In that four weeks I have to do 3 lab reports and a metric ton of Arabic homework. A week from today, I have to present my physics research, and I'm only half through the paper on that. I took three days off from work to do this. And I can't summon the determination to do anything. 1

Overload-induced student apathy. That's a killer.

OK, break things up into manageable pieces. Do not look at the entire mountain, for that will drive you mad. For each piece, set a rewards. "I do this thing, and I can do X fun thing for 15 minutes. I do this next thing, and then I can have a chocolate bar." Make yourself stick to it.

If you won't be able to finish one of the reports on time, try sending a corrupted (broken) file. Then you have time until they contact you that there is something wrong with the file to finish the report you then send them the finished report blaming the evil machines for corrupting your file. 1

While tempting, two of them are already late... But thanks for the idea
