Phenomenal cosmic power?

Itty bitty living space?

Can someone please explain this reference to me?

Plural is Voidi? Like platypi or octopi?

Disney's Aladdin.  It's the Genie's definition of what it's like to be a genie.

Welp, there goes the neighborhood.  And we thought we were in trouble when Rubix went on a rampage, with Voidus wielding power, we're all gonna wind up looking like a bunch of hemalurgic porcupines!

Seriously, dude, congrats.  Again.

(Aren't these things supposed to come in threes?  First Voidus Jr, now being crowned a mod...what's next?  Next ultrasound revealing twin Voiduses?  Voidi?  What's the plural for Voidus anyway?)

Voidi? It works in Latin.

Much as I'd love that, first ultrasound said it's pretty likely that it's only one. But hey, you never know. :D

I've also struggled on what the plural of a Voidus is since I've long since forgotten the origin of my name, I think I got it from something latin which would make it Voidii.

Technically, yes, but it comes out sounding like a type of soul-devouring pasta.

There are a number of creative things I could be working on right now.  Armored Jean Grey costume.  Crocheted amigurumi.  Starting to design my Eva cosplay.  Outlining the next fanfic novel.  But what I am doing?  Hitting refresh over and over on the Shard...

Can you crochet one-handed?

Which doesn't fit the first lurker of the Dark Alley how exactly? :P

Oh, look, Rubix is trolling!  Or he's not.  It's so hard to tell sometimes.

...no.  I really do need to whip together a Yoda to learn what I'm doing so that I can then start creating patterns for Cosmere characters.  That sort of thing would be a great little portable project to cart around at cons.

Well, when you put it that way...

Ooo... another hooker! What are you considering working on?

@Voidus: It's possible to do, it's just really... really... really hard to do one handed.

The technical term is 'hooker'? o_O

Technical might be a stretch...

What technique are you needing to figure out? I might be able to point you to a good project. Also, do you know the magic ring? (One last question for pestering: how long have you been at it?)

*waits for another post to pop up to avoid double-posting 'cos can't figure out how to edit a new quote into existing post*

I am new to crochet, though I've been knitting for several years.  My BIL and SIL got me a Star Wars crochet book/kit for Christmas, because they know I'm a sucker for creative nerdy things.  Of course, little did they know that I'd take one look at the thing and visions of tiny adorable Vins and Kelsiers started dancing in my head.

Edit:  She ninjaed me again.  Dangit, somebody post something!

You have no idea how loudly I snorted when I saw that term myself.

Man, I want that book so much, but it's such an expensive kit! I might have to snag one of the patterns from you though.

Also, sounds like you're the opposite of me. I started crocheting, then realized all the good looking clothes were knit so I picked up some needles. Switching between the two is so weird! The opposite just feels so weird in your hands.

I actually have a good friend who's a crocheter who taught me some things last weekend, including the magic ring.  (Man, that one was a doozy.  Took me half a dozen tries to beat it into submission.)  Mostly, the book pictures/explanations were kind of crap for explaining how it worked, and I needed to have her show me.  Now I've just got to get the feel down and put the muscle memory into my fingers.

I keep on getting the crochet hook caught on the yarns I'm trying to pull through.  Knitting feels so much easier to me.  "I can learn this crochet thing!" I thought.  "How hard can it be?"  Hah!  At least I'm a lot less prone to injury with a crochet hook than when I'm working chain or scale mail.

It's kind of amusing, though, as she's crocheted for years and recently learned to knit.  I've knitted for years and am now learning to crochet.  I believe upon the completion of my first project, we will have successfully reversed the polarity of our creative neutron flows.

ETA:  You've gotta love the Disney markup on things.  I am willing to share patterns.  And willing to share the patterns I work up for Cosmere bitties, too. :)

Hahaha, it's not that bad. Also, it takes forever to get, but the magic ring is the absolute best thing to ever happen to crocheting in a circle. Also, I have just discovered that placing a row marker is actually worth it to avoid the seams.

As for which is better... either. Whichever has more of the projects you want to do. Or both. IP73r.gif

Edit: Yay pattern! I have a friend who wants a mini-vader for Christmas (yes, it's late. He knew it would be), and all the online ones suck!

It's a bit aggravating to start, but it makes tiny heads come together much more prettily.  No holes in heads!

I...actually might want to pick your brain about an unrelated thing, since I've already got your attention.  I'm trying to figure out how best to do a Thing in such a way that is most acceptable for the boards.  Would it be OK if I shot you a PM?

If a dorky, unsocial nerd were to hypothetically want to try one to pass the time, which should he do?

What she said.  They're both very useful skills to learn, and you can make lots of cool things with either of them.  I've knitted everything from scarves to blankets to Jayne Cobb's Very Cunning Hat.  Crochet seems to lend itself better to making tiny adorable people.

Feel free to send me a PM! Seriously, we're always open for a random message!

My general feel is knit is for useful things, crochet is for plushies or warm things. (Be warned though: crochet uses up SO MUCH YARN!)

Sent!  Hopefully with a minimum of flailing.

I...should probably see about dinner.  Food is good.  Husband often forgets to eat, not because he isn't hungry, but because he gets distracted by other things (usually video games or napping).

It is coming in threes. ;)

Only just spotted this one, fingers crossed for re-introduction of awards.

Though I did also realize that the third might have been my brief stint as a Chasmfiend corpse.

Kaymyth? :P

Unfortunately Mrs. Voidus has decreed that she has veto power over names and is refusing to accept Void-spawn.

Miraculously, I haven't gotten onto this thread in a few days. I didn't even notice the lack of vote buttons. It has been most amusing to watch everyone's reactions. I had heard about Voidus becoming a Chasmfiend Corpse, and have now saved the picture. I am curious about why Voidus is now a moderator, but it will not stop me from protecting new forum members from his underlings. Although, I suppose this basically confirms him as King of the Dark Alley.
