Chaos he/him Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Some people take imaginary internet points way too seriously/personally and so maybe it might be better if they weren't on the site any longer. That was the idea floating around. There will be a large post coming soon--actually soon, not soon--solidifying 17th Shard's stances on reputation, upvotes, and downvotes. So far they have been posted by disparate staff members in various places, and there will be centralized place for this. Some have... views regarding this stuff that need to be dissuaded, and so I guess it is time to do this. The site's big enough, after all...

He never lets me forget it (I might have erroneously removed that table as I theorized it was causing an upgrade issue. Spoiler: it did not. Also, though I could have sworn I saved that database table, uh... the mists have it now. Yep.)

Ookla the Absent Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 We are also long past worried that reputation has become extremely devalued, so we are going to be implementing a much smaller cap for both up and downvotes. Agreed. I like reputation, but it is kinda annoying when I realize how few I have, overall. Maybe a cap for how many times a person can get upvoted in a day, not just upvote? IDK. But, the inflation is real.

After shaking loose our psyches with taking away the voting system, they have now given us back downvotes only. Now they'll take notes as they wait to see if we spiral into a Lord of the Flies tribal state. 2

I'd better sneak around the house and gather up all the trash first, though. That's normally James's thing to do on Thursdays, but I fear that I may have, erm, encouraged him to fall asleep early.
