I should also probably mention that 'Gold Frank' is a pirate.  No, his ship can't fly, but only because he's too stubborn to ask for help with the fabrials.

I'll be signing up as Cla, a horneater who barely made it to Urithiru among a group of refugees whose numbers were decimated by Radiants and Diagramists alike.

Posted

I'll join as Elba. This should be interesting...

There's something I want to say but I'm going to wait until LG15's done to say it.

After talking with wilson at the Orem signing, she's convinced me to come on board! I probably won't be very involved the first 2 or 3 cycles (till Friday afternoon), but after that I've got all the time in the world!

I'll be Zas, a shoemaker that's grown to be quite inventive in methods of trying to make shoes out of unusual things. There are rather limited resources on the Shattered Plains, and even fewer in Urithiru, at least currently. If his plans go well, that won't be true for long...

Welcome, zas! Or welcome back? You've been around for one or two games before, right?

We've got 35 players right now. Since there are two factions, we need an even number of players for them to start on equal footing. If we don't get another player, that's fine. While doing the distributions, we'll just do an RNG to choose a pinch hitter (since I'm certain someone will go inactive and there's no inactivity filter right now...), so we'll still get the even number, but everyone will still be able to play as well.

Also, I just discovered I have a meeting at 9:30 tomorrow morning, so in order to make sure Kas and I have time to get the game running sometime between 9-10 am MST, allowing for any snags we may hit, we'll close signups at 8am, so in about 11 1/2 hours from the time of this post.

If you'd like to spectate, shoot me and Kas a PM and we'll get you a link to the spec doc. Similarly, if you're interested in pinch hitting (taking over for an inactive player), also let us know and we'll jot that down.

Thanks everyone, and get ready for the fun to begin!

It was raining.  It wasn’t a heavy rain or even the light drizzle one normally gets after a Highstorm.  No, it was the Weeping.  A time of year where it rained for weeks on end.  A rain that marked the end of one year and the beginning of the next.

It had been raining for the past three and a half weeks.  A couple more days and it will be over which meant the return of Highstorms.  Storms how Lorna hated those things.

A lone person stood alone in one of the gardens that ringed the main tower.  She watched as, one by one, her targets arrived in the Lost City of Urithiru.  Only it was lost no more.  Highprince Kholin had lead an expedition to end the war only to end up finding something long thought to be nothing but a myth.

Kholak Bagar

Sheon Idris

Frank Au Faliu

Citona Vinid

Bort

Baheal Edr

Lorna checked her list again.  Six names.  Six targets.  Six deaths.  Only one however required proof of the deed.  Baheal’s head needed to be collected.  There was a large bounty on it and Lorna was the only one going to collect that payday.

Rolling up the list, Lorna slipped it into her belt and drew her crossbow.  The moons were about to set and a new day dawn.

It was time to hunt.

Lorna is joining the fun.

Who put a bounty on my head? And how have you failed to collect it yet. THERE ARE EIGHT CORPSES SCATTERED ACROSS THE COSMERE!!! Go desecrate one of those graves...

I have money. I have connections. I'll double what you're being paid to take me down to take down whoever put the hit on me...

See, if it's his own list, he's already killed me. He killed Edrab in LG12... Why should I suffer because he botched the first attempted by incinerating me...

Sadly it wasn't until LG14 that your head became a valuable item so I couldn't collect it before hand.  However, if you wish for me to remove the bounty all you need to do is bring me a suitable replacement, say Kiireon's (Little Wilson's) head?

I suspect that unless a situation arises where she offers me her head, I might find that a challenging artefact to come by. She can be awfully hard to kill when the occasion suits her...

But as 'Herald' of the Brightness Ascendant, I won't be taking her life without good cause. To clear my own head (:P) is not cause enough.

Does that mean you'll be getting involved too?

I have no allegiances that would require me to act in this situation. A lover's quarrel is, after all, strictly their affair.

And, brightlords and ladies, we are closing the sign-ups now. Please hang in there and keep those engines warm; we'll be ready to commence boarding in Urithiru at 1200. Kas out.

Wait, why am I on that list. What did I do to you? You probably just want my Badger Paws for your collection, I'll have you know that you'll probably be able to kill me and take them, make that almost definitely. I haven't survived a game yet, and this game is probably not an exception

MR10- Cycle 1: Dead Men Tell No Tales

It was an otherwise unremarkable day in Urithiru, when Dalinar went to see a corpse.

The messenger from Sebarial had been rather brief and unhelpful, and so when Dalinar made his way; fumbling, at some points, in the dark hallways of the city to the secluded chamber where the corpse had been found, he couldn’t help glancing over his shoulder. They didn’t have enough Stormlight, at this point. Everything had to be carefully rationed to permit more crossings through the Oathgate.

He stepped into the chamber, nodding to Sebarial and his guards. By the corpse stood a man that Dalinar guessed was a surgeon. He was no warrior, for certain. It was clear in his bearing.

He turned his attention, after hurried greetings, to the corpse he had come to see.

The Makabaki man was almost certainly dead; his dark skin gone ashen. Dalinar knelt by the body and flipped it over with a grunt of effort. On the other side, he could see the entry wound more clearly, the edges ragged.

The lighteyed surgeon beside him holding a lamp cleared his throat, quietly. His hands were steady; the bright blue-white light of the spheres illuminating the corpse that Dalinar had come to see.

Sound carried, in this chamber.

Dalinar glanced over his shoulder. “Well?” he said.

Brightlord Sebarial waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t ask me, ask the surgeon,” he said. “Isn’t that what I’m paying him for?”

“Brightlord,” the surgeon said, “The wound didn’t kill him.” He gestured to the ragged flaps that had been the man’s eyelids with the stoic calm of a man who dealt with brutality on a daily basis. “His eyes were cut out.”

“Shardblade,” Dalinar said, his voice strangely hushed. “You think?”

Sebarial snorted. “Why cut out the eyes otherwise? You’re getting long in the tooth, Dalinar.”

“The wound was made by a sword,” the surgeon said. “But notice that there was little bleeding. This strongly suggests that the man was already dead before a sword was stuck into him and twisted about.”

A coarse laugh from Sebarial. “Well, well. At least he doesn’t mince his words.”

Dalinar studied the corpse for a few long moments. “What then, Sebarial?” he asked. “Why this secrecy? Why this meeting? This is hardly the first corpse to turn up in Urithiru.”

“Because,” Sebarial said, moving over to the corpse, “There’s this.”

He knelt by the body and worked the stiff limbs until he had moved the corpse’s left arm up. “Look.”

There, on the underside of the arm, were three interlocked diamonds, tattooed.

“He was carrying enough weapons for an army,” Sebarial said, bluntly. “Seems to be a problem in Urithiru.” He shook his head and laughed. “You wanted Alethkar to pack their things and come to Urithiru. You got that, and more. You got a whole nest of bickering whitespines, Dalinar. And it’s about to become everyone’s problem. Well, except Hatham’s. That man wouldn’t know a problem if it hit him in the face.”

“An assassin?” Dalinar wondered, aloud.

“Someone else killed him,” Sebarial said. “Someone who went to some trouble of trying to hide how he died.” He smiled crookedly. “Something stinks here, and it isn’t the both of us, even though Palona thoroughly assures me that we could both use more frequent baths.”

Dalinar folded his arms across his chest. “I assume you have a reason for bringing this to my attention, then. Besides the obvious danger, with Elhokar coming to Urithiru.” The crease between his eyebrows deepened as he frowned. “We’ll need to settle this before the arrival of the king.”

Sebarial laughed. “We?” he mocked, rising to his feet. “You seem to be adding excitement to my life lately, Dalinar old man. I might begin to wonder why I bother talking to you.”

Dalinar said nothing.

Sebarial scratched at the back of his neck. “I might have some people,” he conceded. “Don’t get your hopes up.”
