Claincy he/him Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I hate this week's post especially because it's about how to properly encourage someone who is going through a rough patch. It's actually good advice, but I can't read it without remembering how she "encouraged" me back during my last major bout with depression. She and my dad sat me down and ranted about how my "refusal" to be happy was making them sad, which only made everything worse. And now I'm reading her blog, and I know that she and my dad didn't treat me that way because they didn't know any better. They knew what I needed. They just chose not to give it to me. It amazes me sometimes how people can know so much, and yet be so blind to their own behaviour and circumstances. :/ 2
Kobold King he/him Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I hate my mom's blog I hate it I hate it I hate editing it I hate reading it I hate sharing it. If it helps, I've never read it and I hate it too. Also, this is what I think of whenever I see the... er, extreme range of reactions on Doctor Who and My Little Pony discussion boards. 10

+Slowswift Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Why can't real life be like this? You know, that is a really good question. 2
Zathoth Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I cant imagine that it has happened more than about twice... I shall sleep, night sharders. 1
Kestrel she/her Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Why can't real life be like this?asking the real questions.
DreamEternal Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) What happens if two Nicrosil allomants are bursting each other? On the same vein as this question, if someone choosen for ascension burns the mists to fuel allomantic alluminium, what happens? My best guess is that O Fortuna starts playing at every point of the universe at once. DreamEternal Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 what would an aluminum savant do You are assuming it would be possible to burn aluminum after that. For all we know, the shard of Preservation could be splintered if someone did that.
DreamEternal Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) Yes but Hypothetically I get the feeling we should take this to the mistborn forums. But if someone, somehow, became a savant, they would be able to cleanse their body of any foreign investiture, and maybe poisons. EDIT: Since I brought classical music and allomancy together, does that mean Scadrial has symphonic metal? Edited October 4, 2015 by CognitivePulsePattern
Kestrel she/her Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Probably, but hey, this is the random thread, so anything flies. I hope that's the case, because that would be great.
DreamEternal Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I hope that's the case, because that would be great. Are you talking about music, savantism or time travel? You are an amnesic time traveler, aren't you? I hope that's the case, because that would be great.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Question number 4: Does anyone actually read it? Do stuff you hate so she wont guilt you into doing stuff you hate, sounds fair...ish...esque...in the same way bathroom writing could be considered literature. ... do you need an internet hug? For all the bullying and alienation Ive been through in my life Ive always had a decent family so I have no idea what to say. She has a few readers, but it's not a huge audience. It's in the 150-225 range, I believe. Rule Number One of Twi's Momma's House: If Mom does it, it's fair. If anyone else does it, it's wrong. I do like hugs. I'm actually, in a strange way, glad she still does awful things like this. She's been acting nicer toward me lately, which tempts me into thinking she's changed and that things would be fine if I moved somewhere close….but then she'll lash out at my sister because she thought she was being snide when she wasn't, lecture her for fifteen minutes, and end with a fake apology that gets my sister to apologize for something she never did. It's awful and it makes me mad, but it also reminds me that living someplace far away from her isn't a bad thing. It amazes me sometimes how people can know so much, and yet be so blind to their own behaviour and circumstances. :/ No kidding. 1
Kestrel she/her Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 What does she even blog about? I'm curious, because I haven't heard this story yet.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 What does she even blog about? I'm curious, because I haven't heard this story yet. Life, with a religious bent. She's a licensed minister, and so she'll blog about things that happen to her or out in the world and how it relates to Bible verses/stories/concepts. Or, I should say, how she believes it relates to Bible verses/stories/concepts. I find myself disagreeing with her interpretations quite a bit, but I don't dare argue with her for my own sanity. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Well, disagreeing with her views is helping to define mine, so that's something. And it's not fun, but so long as I stay quiet, there's no argument to worry about. 2
Kestrel she/her Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Yeah, at least that's the good thing. I wish you luck with it all. 1

Have you read The Amen Corner by James Baldwin? It centers around an overbearing minister mother. Not the best pay, but that's mostly because Baldwin was pretty much writing a short story in play firm.

ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 On the same vein as this question, if someone choosen for ascension burns the mists to fuel allomantic alluminium, what happens? My best guess is that O Fortuna starts playing at every point of the universe at once. Given that the mists aren't actually metals but pure preservation, I'd say nothing
DreamEternal Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) Given that the mists aren't actually metals but pure preservation, I'd say nothing Oh, but aluminium does not simply remove metals. We know at highter levels it can be used to remove foreign investiture from other shards. And we have never seem someone using it while taking in the mists.
