Kestrel she/her Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm sorry. I used to be pretty clingy too, and once I confronted the cause of that, I was able to become less clingy, become more independent. Maaaaybe it's not so much letting go as not getting so attached in the first place? But I don't know how you do that so......I'm not being very helpful here am I? *hugs* its kinda both, I think.Ah man.
Voidus Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) I found some old photos today, so for all those having a bad day: Here's a picture of our cat Happy just after we got her, she was really sick the day after she came home and it turned out she'd swallowed a toy when she was at the store and it got lodged in her stomach. We were really poor at the time but we somehow managed to pull through and pay the $1000 for her surgery, this is her just afterwards with her cone to stop her biting her stitches. And here she is over a year later, complication free, cute as all heck and loving her life.So just stick through it, things will get better and some day you'll just be able to have a nice lovely sleep and be as happy as Happy. +Slowswift Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Gotta love being woken at 1 AM, with only three hours of sleep, by crippling leg cramps. It still aches. Ah, well, at least I get to stay home from school... 1
Kaymyth she/her Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Drink more water and get plenty of potassium! (I get nighttime Charlie horses, too, sometimes. They're awful. And then my yelping usually wakes up poor James, too, so neither of us get sleep.) 1

Ah, well, at least I get to stay home from school... I never got night Charlie's until I hit college, where the cafeteria was chalk full of sodium. Luckily you got to miss class, I got to climb four flights of stairs every time afterwards (I'd get one about every six months). 1
Delightful Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I live around an hour away from where the shooting occurred... What kind of sickening mind thinks that harming other beings for no reason is OK? It disturbs me that I live in a world with people like that. I hope beyond hope that they come to their senses, and get help in a healthy way. From what I've seen, which may be wrong, they weren't suffering from mental illness, they were radicalised by jihad. Either way 1
Allomancy she/her Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 My friend is moving across the world TODAY. And I couldn't say goodbye because she told me last night on email. 3

Seonid he/him Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 So last night my phone died. It refuses to turn on now, and keeps vibrating consistently. It isn't the first time this has happened - Google says that it's a common problem with this particular phone, but none of the fixes are working for me this time. I may end up needing to get a new phone, and that's not fun right before finals week. 2

I may end up needing to get a new phone, and that's not fun right before finals week. Same thing happened to mine a while back my galaxy S3 just stopped charging, for a while it vibrated heaps but then it just stayed dead. Had to buy a new one in the end since the warranty had literally just ended a couple weeks before.
Kaymyth she/her Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (Spoiler tagging for grossness.) Oh, joy. I'm now to the point in cold recovery that involves mucus-infused blood clots. Yay. Also, our IT department is just fantastic, I tell you. Last week: Me: "My CPU fan is making funny noises." Manager: *submits ticket* IT: *ignores ticket* This week: My computer: *restarts* "DANGER WILL ROBINSON! CPU FAN NOT DETECTED!" *refuses to boot* Me: "Augh!" Manager: *escalates ticket* Today: Some Guy From IT: "Yo, I'm ordering you a new power supply. It'll be here Monday." Me: "Um, that's great, except that it's my CPU cooling fan that died."Some Guy From IT: "Oh. OK, I'll order one of those, too! Thanks for the update!" (except his actual response was so riddled with typos that it made my eyes bleed) 7

I came home from class today to find that my wife had gone to the store, found out that they didn't repair phones, and bought me a new phone (on sale that day) all in the time I was gone. I love her. 2

Also, you know that feeling when you work really hard to get something, but lose the opportunity just before getting it? Well, my section had just gotten through the hard part of a song when our band director had us hand it in.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 So….remember when I said I thought Bruce might make messes in my mom's room to get back at her for mistreating me? Well, Bruce hasn't made a mess in her room for a week or so now. But this morning, my mom was being mean to my sister for petty reasons—"You're moving slowly this morning so you must be doing it on purpose!"—which made me angry on her behalf. Bruce has gone for a whole week without making a mess in my mom's room, but he broke that record today. Coincidence? Maybe, but I'm inclined to think otherwise. 5

Delightful Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 My friend is moving across the world TODAY. And I couldn't say goodbye because she told me last night on email............I am so so sorry. That's pretty rotten. *hugs*. Did she give you contact details? Twi, you have one seriously smart and empathetic dog. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 My friend is moving across the world TODAY. And I couldn't say goodbye because she told me last night on email. Wow, that's awful. Do you need pugs? Twi, you have one seriously smart and empathetic dog. If that's what's going on here, then I'm really surprised at just how smart he is. Not only is he considering the fact I'm upset, but he's connecting my being upset to my mom, and getting back at her the sneakiest way he knows how. And he's empathetic in other ways, too—one day I was curled up on my bed crying, and he walked over, rested his chin on the crook of my neck, and purred. 2
Left he/him Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I'm still sick. I started feeling bad Monday, and it didn't get better till Thursday. Thursday I felt great ish, but I'm back to having a cold again now. 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 To all of the elderly drivers in my city: When a young whippersnapper flashes their lights at you, it does not mean they are an insolent young hoodlum who needs to be taught a lesson about patience. It means they have places to be AND YOU ARE GOING 30 MPH IN A 50 ZONE. DO NOT KEEP SLAMMING ON YOUR BRAKES. SPEED UP OR TAKE THE BUS. I hope I get out of here soon. 1

We've got a lot of middle-aged drivers who go tearing down little country roads at breakneck speeds. My mom and little brother almost got hit earlier today while taking a walk, and the tree at the end of my road has ribbons and roses all around its base as a double (maybe triple, can't remember) memorial to a couple of drivers who both walloped into it at different times. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Oh, and what's this? My mom, who said she'd go get dog food for Bruno and Mollie last night, didn't? And she's all "I'll buy another fan of dog food off of you," meaning she's going to give them a can of Bruce's food like she did last night, because I'm not too lazy to shop for food for my dog? And she's all casual about it, like we both don't know she'll probably forget to pay me back for two cans of his definitely-not-cheap dog food, which means I'll also have to make another trip to the pet store soon, because one can of food lasts Bruce two days, so now she's fed Bruno and Mollie four days' worth of my dog's food. And of course, it's no biggie when she does it. But if I "borrowed" dog food from her two days in a row, it'd be evidence of some deep and severe character flaw. And she'll probably make me get their food, too, while I'm out. Because Heaven forbid she have to go to the store for something she needs. 3

Well, at least if she wants you to get the other dogs' food you then have a legitimate reason to ask for money? So. Saw the last Hunger Games movie today. That is not a thing to complain about; it was good! Not so good: I saw the trailer for Gods of Egypt. I...I don't even know what that was, but it in no way resembled Egyptian mythology. 2
Mistrunner Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I feel like nobody cares what I think. And even on here, I keep typing up long posts, overthinking them, editing them down to nothing, and giving up altogether. I'm drowning in schoolwork I can't finish. I used to be really good at school, but I've lost motivation. I keep getting exasperation from my parents about how I don't do things and how I need to but nothing is interesting, and when it is, it's horribly awkward because I hardly know anyone and it's not fun at all. Parents keep telling me to talk to people, put myself out there. I try, and I keep trying, but it never works. I just need some time away from the world and its breakneck pace that somehow makes a week pass by at the pace of a snail and a jet plane at the same time, but I can't have any, and life keeps rushing onward, dragging me behind it. 5
Delightful Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 *hugs* Deep breaths. I know how that feels and it sucks. It does get better I promise. Do you have holidays soon? *hugs* 1
