Kestrel she/her Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Season 7 spoilers Eh, I think I preferred Amy and Rory's story... even though the Weeping Angels just got weirder after "Blink". IdkI liked them in season 5 it just got tiring after that

SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Trying to practice my music and suddenly the cat comes along and straight up at taCK S ME. WHAT DID I DO TO YOU You exist. What other possible reason does a cat need.
Mestiv he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 hm doomsday is p much the worst tho For me the two last episodes of 10th were the most painful. He will knock four times... ;( but the end of season 4 just before that was the highest point of the whole show! So together, in 4 episodes, there is such an emotional ride, that Moffat and his stories will never be able to reach. 1
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Why is objectifying people bad?
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 It denies them agency. Agency?
ThirdGen Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 The understanding that they have autonomy and the right to control over their own lives.
Kobold King he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 How's the Pug Fund going, Twi? Were you well received on the Book of Faces?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 How's the Pug Fund going, Twi? Were you well received on the Book of Faces? Well, I didn't get any angry PMs, and at least five people liked the post when I shared it. I only got one other donation, though....but I'm almost halfway there. I'll try sharing it again today. 1

GoFundMe will let you keep the money even if you don't quite hit $500, right?

The site lets me keep the money, even if the campaign doesn't reach its goal.
Orlion Blight he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Yep, the best you can do is keep it visible. Some people may donate given time, but if not reminded will forget.
Delightful Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Why is objectifying people bad?Because if you see someone as an object and not as a person, it's, as ThirdGen said, as if they have no agency and therefore, if that's all true in your mind (subconsciously) you can do what you like to them because they're not a person, they're an object. And that's horrific. 3

Kobold King he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 "What kind of hardwood flooring do you want?" "I like the Distressed Maple Riverwood." "How much would it cost to get our floor done with it?" "Over a hundred dollars." "Yeesh. That is Distressing." 4
Kaymyth she/her Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Sharknado? (If you haven't seen those movies yet, DO IT NOW. They're so ridiculously awesome. Or awesomely ridiculous. Let me put it this way: Flying shark is coming toward Our Heroes. One Hero tosses a grenade into the air. Shark swallows the grenade and explodes. If that didn't make you want to see these movies, nothing will. ) Ye gods, the crazy. It's brilliant. I'm rather partial to the Rolling Ferris Wheel of Doom, myself, though there were so many brilliant moments. The first time I watched it, the compile was broken and we had no sound. And it didn't matter. "What kind of hardwood flooring do you want?" "I like the Distressed Maple Riverwood." "How much would it cost to get our floor done with it?" "Over a hundred dollars." "Yeesh. That is Distressing." That is actually crazy-cheap for hardwood floors.
Kestrel she/her Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Why is objectifying people bad?Dehumanizes them. Makes them an object for you to control rather than an actual person with emotions, feelings, and rights.

Is it because they cannot speak for themselves?
Kestrel she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) If it is so horrific why are we allowed to do it to animals? Is it because they cannot speak for themselves?Animal welfare is a thing. Animal rights is not. Animals are not people. Edited August 11, 2015 by LarkoftheRiver 3
Delightful Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 If it is so horrific why are we allowed to do it to animals? Is it because they cannot speak for themselves? You mean why do we eat them and drink milk and take their eggs?Because they're not human. Sure, you can't hurt animals, or abuse them, and I totally think it's wrong to kill animals for sport. But they're certainly not the same as people. (If that wasn't what you meant, please clarify )
