A quarter through Dune - enjoying it much more than the first time.  I'm finding Paul much more interesting.

I agree, you should read it.  As for stopping after the first book, depends on how weird you like books to get.

That’s a fair point.

Ok. I definitely will then.

Is Dune clean?

The first book I’d say yes. There’s some violence but no language or explicit sex. Pretty much everyone is addicted to a substance called spice which is pretty central to the story so if you are sensitive to drug use that may not be considered clean.

Some of the later books do contain some fairly explicit sex scenes.

Okay, thanks. I was thinking of getting it for my younger cousin, but I'll find something else. Maybe Steelheart would suit her better. :P

Not sure how young she is but the themes are kind of heavy. Probably wouldn’t be appreciated by someone too young. It does have a good overcomes evil (oppressive) message in my opinion at least in the first book.

Oh, sounds cool. Themes... in Dune or in Steelheart?

Dune. Steelheart loved the first two books! Last one not so much but lots of other people liked it. For sure fun read though for any age.

Yes! Has she read any Sanderson before?

I loved Steelheart, Firefight was good, and Calamity was good except for one part which I think you know.

I don't know. They do have Mistborn, but I don't know if she's read it.

No, I don't know.

Struggling with getting into RoW. The burn from the previous book still leaves a taste of ash in my mouth but I’m trying my best to get over it. Being invaded by house repair crew and the constant dinging of hammers ain’t helping either.

pretty sure i've already taken longer to get 15 chapters into RoW than I did to get through WoK an WoR put together.  largely just because I have other stuff going on taking up time and attention, not because of any issue with the book itself.  I expect if I ever had a long enough stretch of time to read more than a couple chapters (or heck, even a single whole chaptr without interruptions) then it would probably grab me like the others.

That's a shame. I didn't have a problem, but I read it all at night and upstairs, which is quiet except for Fog's snoring.

I finished Dune, and I was right, I enjoyed it much more, knowing what to expect.  The very last line of the book is so impactful, and I have no idea why, but I love it!

I've decided to tackle Jurassic Park's sequel, The Lost World and am part of the way through the prologue.  I should be annoyed by something (if you've read it, you might be able to guess), but I'm not, because I like the character.
