Spren of Kindness she/her Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 I finished The Return of the King, with bittersweet emotions, as usual. I also read Elantris, which I had forgotten most of. I'm going to work through at least some of the Unfinished Tales next!
Bri-Y Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 Reread Wintersteel from Will Wight, the latest book from his Cradle series (8 so far). It’s heavily influenced by xianxia fantasy (Chinese martial arts fantasy). One of my favorite series for some good exciting action and power growth.
+Slowswift Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 Re-reading Howl's Moving Castle after watching the Ghibli version last night! I cannot describe to you how much I love this book. It easily ranks among my top five of all time. 1
SwordNimiForPresident the sword/that sword Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 The Aspect Emperor series by R. Scott Bakker. It's a followup to his Prince of Nothing series. I love how complex the characters are. It's like reading a book where all of the viewpoint characters are Kelsier. His world building is also incredible. The world he creating has an incredibly deep back story. It's also brutally intelligent.
aneonfoxtribute Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 Starting Cold Days in just a few minutes.
aneonfoxtribute Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 REALLY good first day for Cold Days. Got to chapter 8 and we get Dresden being awesome as per usual, as well as Spoiler Actual Santa Claus, more Faerie shenanigans, and of course the order to kill Maeve. But alas, I know how this ends because I got spoiled.
Briar King Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Well that sucks as it’s one of the bigger oh rust moments of the series.
Condensation she/her Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 I found a really good book, called Marked.
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 I'm reading The Unfinished Tales, and I'm on the tale of Aldarion and Erendis. It's so much sadder then I remember.
aneonfoxtribute Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Finally. It took forever, but it finally happened. (Cold Days) Spoiler We finally got the formal introduction of Titania, and man that scene was great.
Ironwill2112 he/him Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 I am reading Oathbringer! Just finished Warbreaker. Chortles

Spren of Kindness she/her Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 (edited) Due to odd but nice circumstances, I read two and a half books yesterday! I finished Story Trumps Structure, by Steven James, and the whole of the third Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel series The Promise. They were both pretty good. Story Trumps Structure is a book about writing, not a fiction book, and it made a lot of sense and was pretty inspiring. I also read The Young Elites by Marie Lu. It was... interesting. I'm going to read the next one for sure, though I'm not sure how exactly how I feel about some of the characters. If anyone else has read it, what did you think? I kind of want to discuss it. Almost forgot: I'm starting Romeo and Juliet! I read it a couple years ago but didn't understand half of it, and thus forgot most of it. Edited January 14, 2021 by Spren of Kindness

I loved the ending, it was satisfying and exiting. And I love BioChromatic Investiture! Biochromatic breath is a super cool Magic System. Very technical and intresting. Just like all of Brandons Magic Systems. The Magic. The complex Magic systems is one of the things I love most about Brandons books. How it is such a contrast from taditional fantasy. Its refreshing. OK, back to Warbreaker, I really loved the characters. Specificly Lightsong, and his relationship with his highpriest "Scoot." Denth and his crew were great. But also Vasher. I Loved Vasher! And, I Obviously love Nightblood! I am exitied to see more of him in the Stormlight Archive!

Plus it’s tie-ins to SA. I think you will enjoy OB even more having just read it.

And I agree, Warbreaker is underated. It's amazing. Although, I still believe that the Mistborn Saga and the Stormlight Archive are the Best by far.
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I'm a bit through Act Two of Romeo and Juliet. It's actually really fun to read - the words have a very nice cadence. I'm also reading The Rose Society, since I have it. Series of strange events. I'm actually reading it really fast, which is nice. The Rose Society spoilers beneath: Spoiler I'm pretty sure I'm only reading because Raffaele is a very intriguing character despite the very limited amount of page time.
Orlion Blight he/him Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Finished Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. It was a fun, exciting read! Though I still am not sure how I feel about competent Jedi in my Star Wars...

Briar King Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Enjoying part 3 of RoW due to something I still can’t talk about in this thread. I suspect I’m going to have a lot to read in that forum whenever I finally finish this beast.
aneonfoxtribute Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) Finished Cold Days. That was great. Even though I already knew part of the outcome of the plot, it still surprised me. Starting Skin Game tomorrow Edited January 20, 2021 by aneonfoxtribute
EPS he/him Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Just finished reading the Darth Bane trilogy by Drew Karpyshyn. So good! Now moving backwards in time to SWTOR: Revan.
aneonfoxtribute Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) Started Skin Game. Spoiler Can't wait to see if Hades is still consistently great in every story that puts his name in it. God of War is the only one that I know of where he isn't great. Also Nicodemus. Always a pleasure. I also love how much it feels like a heist movie Edited January 20, 2021 by aneonfoxtribute
