Sunbird she/her Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 When you call Brock Turner a chullhat on Facebook because you can't think of a non-obscene insult degrading enough to express your disgust for him. (Warning: if you haven't heard about Turner's trial already, it's a rape case, so... trigger warning if you decide to click that Wikipedia link.)
Sunbird she/her Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I know double-posting is frowned upon, but it's been almost a week since my last post here, and I think you all will enjoy this one, so here goes. You know you're a Sanderfan when you have the chance to get a free balloon animal and you ask for a "Medieval broadsword in black" so you can pretend your balloon sword is Nightblood. 4

Xaladin he/him Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 In my algebra class I was already excited when I started seeing Syl everywhere, but it doesn't end there. p is a prime number and H is a finite group. Sylp(H) is the set of all Sylow p-subgroups of H. 1

Yeah cos Calc is about derivatives, rates of change, integrals, and areas, whereas the Syl thing (I'm not sure what it is either) is about set theory or group theory (I think; I'm trying to follow the sines but I may be leading you off on a tangent). 2

I did think of that, but I decided on something more prominent in the story. Plus, it gets really windy where I sail (38 knots/70kph) so I always capsize (the boats a dinghy, so about 3ish meters), so it often isn't pleasurable wind.

I got the puns, btw. LOL. Don't feel too bad. It's a graduate level course in abstract algebra. I'm a Masters student at BYU. @The True Survivor Yes, it is group theory. A Sylow group is a group of order prime power. A Sylow p-subgroup of a group is a subgroup of order the highest power of p dividing the order of the group. Sylow's theorem says there is always at least one such subgroup for each prime diving the order of the group. Syl is the set of all such subgroups, etc. Syl knows all about it too. Kaladin just hasn't asked her yet. 2
