sanderfan she/her Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 When you haven't been on this forum in ages but just finished Bands of Mourning and Secret History in two days and immediately come running back reading theories and just generally lurking in threads because you just really really really don't want it to be over yet I'm such a mess right now...
Alfa he/him Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 You know you're a sanderfan when your name is sanderfan - I'm looking at you, sanderfan. 2
Bugsy he/him Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) When you're discussing Doctor Who with your friend and accidentally call the Ood the Parshendi (Just happened today) When on your World History final you accidentally write "Skaa" instead of "Serfs" (Also a true story) Edited February 15, 2016 by Bugsy6912 6
Alfa he/him Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 When, while slightly bored at work you try to compose an Aonic poem...and realize, that you need much more Aons. 3
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) When you read the previous post, want to suggest writing a haiku instead and then get irritated because you realize that's impossible because haiku have an odd number of syllables in each line. "Ena Ashe Ra- oh bugger." Edited February 17, 2016 by EagleOfTheForestPath 3
Sunbird she/her Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) When the only person you're interested in dating is someone you don't really know except that you've seen and talked to them at several of Brandon's signings. XD Edited February 18, 2016 by Sunbird
natc Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 When you try to classify all characters and powers in all anime you watch as magic, shards, cognitive shadows . . . 1
Rasarr she/her Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Somewhat connected to the above, when you're able to classify the entire universe by Realmatic theory and figure out how Investiture and all that works with in it, only to be stumped on one minor detail. And then it bugs you and you're browsing Coppermind to no end trying to figure it out... and it takes hours for you to realize that it's not a Cosmere world, it doesn't have to fit in. A Thing That Actually Happened. Also, did you know that Warhammer 40K is surprisingly compatible with the Cosmere? 1

A Thing That Actually Happened. Also, did you know that Warhammer 40K is surprisingly compatible with the Cosmere? Well, besides that Wh40k has a "soft" magic system while cosmere is mostly "hard-coded", there are some similarities... but i guess the "shards" in Wh40k are a lot more abstract and there is no spiritual realm. Also, even Hemalurgy is not as "messy" as most magic systems in WH40k...
Rasarr she/her Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Well, besides that Wh40k has a "soft" magic system while cosmere is mostly "hard-coded", there are some similarities... but i guess the "shards" in Wh40k are a lot more abstract and there is no spiritual realm. Also, even Hemalurgy is not as "messy" as most magic systems in WH40k... A valid point, although I suppose Awakening would too look quite abstract to people who only started to explore it. Basically I figured there were two Shards, Order and Chaos, that were shattered quite spectacularly a Long Long Time Ago, with daemons being Splinters of Chaos and Splinters of Honor manifesting when they possess Imperial Saints etc., with the Emperor being a holder of huge Order Splinter akin to Stormfather... Slaanesh would be a Splinter that would come about by Eldar unwittingly bringing together too many Chaos Splinters, which made them coalesce and "reforge" into a bigger Splinter. There'd be three magic systems, with warpcraft being Chaos magic, possession being Order magic and rituals being joint magic. Perpetuality would come from some people being born with too much Connection to their Physical aspects... ... sorry for the rant. I could really go on about it, I've put waaay too much thought into it. Yep, the Spiritual Realm was what had me stumped. Back on topic of the thread: You know you're a Sanderfan when you're listening to the radio and judging what moment the song currently going on would be the best soundtrack for. 3
TheLerasNosed he/him Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 When your phone/remote is just out of reach and your pet is on your lap, and the only thing you can think is "damnation, I wish I could just burn iron" 3
natc Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 When you realize it should be "Rusts! I wish I could just burn iron." 4
Sunbird she/her Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 When the high point of your day is discovering that somebody else posted in the Sanderson Memes thread so you can post more of your memes without triple posting.

Kassil Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 When, despite having a good memory for anything you read, you go back and re-read the novels (perhaps multiple times, yes) because being more aware of the Cosmere's interactions means spotting things you didn't know to watch for the last time. When you buy the Kindle version of books you own hardcopies of for ease of reading without fear of damaging the book by falling asleep and dropping it awkwardly. Instead you just take a Kindle to the face. 4
Master Elodin Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 When your friends all know exactly what you're going to say when you start a sentence with "you should read..". 4
Sunbird she/her Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 When you spend all afternoon drawing fanart of Reckoners characters instead of working on the mountain of homework you have to do this week. 1
Stormgate he/him Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When you manage to turn the part of Bane's speech starting with "So you think the darkness..." and ending with, "And I hated it!" into a completely accurate meme regarding Kaladin. 1
sanderfan she/her Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When your friend asks for book recs and immediately follows it with "but something other than Brandon Sanderson" and you die a little on the inside because what else did you even used to read before?? I honestly don't remember 2
TheLerasNosed he/him Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When you start projecting people you know into Sanderson characters. "Oh, Sarah, you'd make a great Lady Shan." "Derek, you are such a Straff Venture" 3
Arraenae Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When you refuse to get an earring because you don't want anybody coming close to you with a metal spike. 1
folly Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When you sharply inhale near light bulbs, and walk away disappointed. Not that I have ever done this... 8
Beth Mistborn she/her Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 You know you have a Sanderfan family when you buy your mum Shadows of Self for Mother's day (my auntie and I introduced her to Brandon Sanderson's books, haha). 3
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 You know your a Sanderfan when you begin to suspect that everything you thought you knew was the result of a millennia's worth of manipulation and control by an evil sect of librarians. And then you wonder if that's just Ruin playing with your mind. Yep that's me 4
ChickenPlague he/him Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When you start projecting people you know into Sanderson characters. "Oh, Sarah, you'd make a great Lady Shan." "Derek, you are such a Straff Venture" Remind me to never talk or otherwise interact with Derek. 3
