Cool. I'll leave the question on the FUNTIMES list, just in case anyone gets a chance to get more detailed answers out of him.

So... are we sure he meant Obliteration was in Oregon specifically, or merely that he was on the west coast at one point?

I told him that the RP existed, and he said that obliteration definitely could have been there, because he gets around.

SWEET. I mean, it's horrifying for the characters, but this is the second most awesome thing Brandon has said about this RP. (The first is not declaring it non canon right away. :P)

Night's Whisper? One of the most powerful Epics in the Fractured States? Huh. Cool. And Obliteration himself? Well, things are about to get pretty interesting then, I guess.

Anyways, a new Frostfire post is up, and scary!Frostfire is coming out to play again. I hope you're happy. :P

...I'm still trying to decide if the fact that I just wrote the words, "You don't need pants if you don't have legs," in a completely serious context is funny or disturbing.

Firefight spoilers:

Is there any possibility that Night's Whisper is Prof's new name?

After freezing the floor and melting guns I don't know that Frostfire would have been allowed to just walk out of the room, this being the Dalles and all.

Maybe? It doesn't really fit with his powerset, personality, etc. at all, though.

He would have frozen a relatively small patch of floor directly underneath his feet, (square meter rule, remember) so unless someone was looking directly at his feet, it's the sort of thing that's liable to go unnoticed, especially since the time elapsed between the floor freezing and Frostfire leaving was about fifteen seconds, max.

As for the guns, there wouldn't have been anything noticeable, (as least not immediately) assuming they were being held properly. All he did was heat the general area of the firing mechanism a couple hundred degrees. The components in there are very fine, and while they are designed to be heat resistant, Frostfire has both the power and control to heat it enough to misfire without any visible deformation.

Well most people's attention would have been on him is all, and I'd imagine that Epics are very good at noticing things like that when meeting new Epics.

Anyways, a new Frostifer post is up,

Is that a new epic, that takes water from aquifers and freezes it? ;)

Well, the floor freezes, then exactly three seconds later Autumn and Shiny Sparkle disappear in a sparkly explosion. This is in a crowded room with a lot more than just one new Epic, and this is all mere moments after Autumn last spoke. When the only noticeable changes in the floor would be a slight gap between the boards the wasn't there before, and a faint glint of frost, if you happen to be standing at the right angle, I think it's easily believable that it wouldn't be noticed, at least not until some time after he leaves.

Shh... You saw nothing. :ph34r::P

It could be.

Floorboards shrinking quickly enough to groan is probably noticeable, and if nothing else the sudden temperature dip would be noticed, dropping the floor to 'arctic temperatures' is going to get pretty noticeable particularly in such a crowded room.

Ugh, now I just want to write more Euphoria viewpoints.  She was so much fun :(.

Soooo... what are the chances of Backtrack ending up in Corvallis, and if there is a chance, how soon can it happen?

Alternatively, does anyone else have some ideas of how I can slip some Euphoria viewpoints and/or flashbacks in?

Also, scary thought: Rainmaker + Obliteration = Unlimited Enhanced Sunlight + Boom!

To be fair, Obliteration + pretty much anyone is scary.

I don't think it's too big of a deal. Frostfire will have a City Guard escort outside with him very soon.

So, are there going to any sizable explorations in Corvallis, any thing me soon, because I would like to get Converter in the city sometime. I'm dying to write her opening post.

I don't have much, but I got something AMAZING.

The line was huge, so we didn't have a lot of time. But I did get two epics. One whose name is Night's Whisper, and is one of the most powerful epics ever, just under Steelheart. I didn't get her power set, however.

But I did get someone else.

Obliteration.

That's right. It's perfectly, totally in cannon for Obliteration to appear in Oregon. Because, according to the Brandersnatch, "he gets around."

The word Night seems to be really populat with powerful Epics. I mean Nightwielder, Night's Sorrow and now Night's Whisper. Interesting also-

:blink:Obliteration! B)

So that's how Oregon became a wasteland. I was wondering, since the turf wars wouldn't reduce everything to rubble, but they would make certain areas uninhabitable, and if Obliteration heard about "wars and rumors of wars" in Oregon and also about Nighthound it'd be totally in character for him to come and render the entire state uninhabitable. Scorched earth to remove iniquity, I suppose.

And it's totally awesome. In a horrifying way. :D

Did the Bandersnatch say where Night's Whisper would be? Is she an Oregon Epic, or is she in the Coven?

I'm going to read to Obliteration sharing thread before commenting in detail but I don't think that he desrtroyed the entire state himself.

Awesome! :D I'll read that post in just a sec--Obliteration matters are afoot.

I love this idea. We'd have to coordinate our usage of the character so that we don't write him as erratic--he's insane, but definitely not the type to change his plans and modus operandi every few minutes.  But this would be a great way of sharing him and making sure everyone gets to write for him.

...How does an opening post for him where he sacks Calamityville before setting his sights on Oregon sound, just theoretically speaking?

Does that mean a fight scene with Möbius?

Cool. I'll leave the question on the FUNTIMES list, just in case anyone gets a chance to get more detailed answers out of him.

I would annotate it with [He told us Night's Whisper exsist but not his exact powers]

Didn't have a chance to read it yet but for one Reader should still be in the same room and you know mind-reading and second who said the floor is made out of boards?:P

Could we get the exact specs of her powers first?

Now to read all the new stuff I'm sure will be awesome.

Would it? Their size is likely only decreasing by a few millimeters, a centimeter at most. Can the human eye pick up a change that small from several feet?

Does the air conduct heat that quickly? You've got a one patch of ground with an area of roughly 1.5 meters squared, at a temperature of approximately -40 degrees Celsius and fifteen seconds. Is that enough time for a noticeable cold spot to form? I'd have no clue how to even guess at figuring that out, myself.

I already cleared the scene with mail-mi, and Reader wouldn't have had the time to fully gauge Frostfire's intentions. He would've sensed his anger, but with Frostfire leaving mere seconds later, he wouldn't have gotten much else.

I took a shot in the dark. :P Boards were most convenient, as I would imagine several feet of cracked stone/tile/concrete would have been much more obvious than a couple feet of shrunk floorboards.

Okay, so I finally got around to actually reading the post and I have to wonder, what exactly do you mean with "firing mechanism," because if he want precicion here it has to be something visible. Another point that might just be that way it's described is that Frostfire would have to heat each rifle after the other and not all at once.

As for the floor, maybe I only assumed it to be obvious because it's like this here in germany but every Doctor praxis will have linoleum flooring for sanitary reasons and being non-allergenic alone. You know, like this

medical-floor.jpg

Meaning no, there would be no floorboards.

Furthermore, as an Epic not only not cleared by Autumn but if anything one step away from the firing squad I don't think he would be allowed to be without supervision at all, period.

-40? That's going to be pretty immediately noticeable with even the slightest of breezes and instantaneously cooling a 1.5 meter area by 40-60 degrees is definitely going to create a breeze. Come to think of it, wooden boards would probably snap if you cooled them that quickly.

Wait -40°C?

Physical Limits:

It gets exponentially harder to for Frostfire remove energy from things as they get colder. For example, at room temperature, for an object on the upper end of his range for size* (something like a cubic meter) Frostfire usually only gains enough heat to light a few things on fire. I wouldn't even know where to start with exact calculations, but it'll just say that past about -20/30* C, it gets impractically difficult to lower the temperature of the object in question, even though he could theoretically make it much colder.

There's no way he could have done that within only a second.

Also finally read Corvallis. I proclaim awesomness!

Only two details that confuse me a bit. For one, why would the soldiers need to work in darkness if Rainmaker is radianting her furry, plus whatever light Calamity is sending down and judgind from Newcago that should still be a good amount.

And the other, how is Decoy giving his healing to another Epic?

Now concerning Kenshin, what kind of accommodation would she get?

Also is there a chance that if she entered town in the scene described she would have been able to stand on the sideline watch Rainmaker deliver the smackdown to the Iron Maiden? Otherwise, how frequent are these welcomings for newcomers.

I really need to work on my characters for this, sorry. ;u; Coming up with them is really straining for me because I want to make them really good but I have the creativity of a rock. So. I don't know. I am trying. I have the names and one of the weeknesses. But that's it. Gah. Sorry.

Well it took me all day but I finally got the time to read through Comatose's massive intro post which was Epic!
Euphoria's a great character, I hope we can see more of her even in the circumstances. Plenty of other great Epic ideas in there too, I may just have to step up my game. :P
Also why have the mobiles not been mentioned in the RP before that I know of? I feel like even though they're an integral part of the books I keep forgetting they exist when I write my posts.
Anyways, kudos on an excellent post Coma!

Thoughttown's been using them, but most of the other areas of Portland don't have the resources to acquire them. The Dalles uses radios created by Arsenal.

Yeah, so good. Talking about Euphoria, Comatose have you actually worked out that tier system she mentioned?

(We also totally have to add Decoy to the list of worst Epic names ever. :P )

I mentioned mobiles once or twice. Otherwise Lucentia would still be in Astoria and have no clue were Nighthound currently is. Otherwise, I didn't have much reason to use them.

p.s. New Voidgaze segment up. B)

Agreed, I am generally terrible at naming my Epics, as shown in an Epic I made around Christmas: TheEpicFormerlyKnownAsJohnWhoHasThesePowers
