Wow, Leo hasn’t even met Trance yet. His school year might be terrible

Which Leo? Leokadius or Leonidas? Because I assure you, one of us is an 11 year old, and one of us is 17. Also, my character is very prone to duels and may be a bit too eager to fight.

Leonidas. I’m aware of that. Especially since he’s using some forbidden curses.

Raese Description:

He has curly golden hair that is constantly mussed up, fairly short, he is 11 after all, twinkle in his eye, perpetually smiling and covered in freckles. Tan, as if he spends plenty of time outside.

--

Raese sighed, breathing deeply as he settled onto a bench. His hands were full of parcels, each tied up and important to him. His wand, a cherry phoenix-feather supposedly, his school books, his robes.

"How about that, eh?" his father grinned, wiping the perpetual sheen of his sweat off his face. He had never been to Diagon Alley, and it was a new experience for him. "Quite the place, innit?"

"Quite the place." Raese agreed, still staring at the busy street. It was quite chaotic, with many children crowding around shops surrounded by older, harried looking wizards. Owls flew throughout the street, and occasionally explosions echoed from around the corner.

"You excited for Hogwarts?" his father asked, leaning back and taking a sip of his butterbeer. A galleon for two from the Leaky Cauldron, his mum would've called it robbery, his father was too gracious to assume it so.

"Yep." Raese nodded, fiddling with the strings of one of the packages.

"Going to be lonely without you, you know." he remarked. "Me and your ole mum will have the great big house to ourself."

"You got Rose." Raese nodded, thinking of his younger sister. "She's hardly eight."

"Yes, we'll have Rose, but it'll never be the same without you."

"Dad." Raese said suddenly, turning. "Getting into Hogwarts, I reckon it's the best thing thats ever happened to me."

"Eh?" his dad replied, with a twinkle in his eye. "Reckon so. Me parents weren't wizards, so I didn't have anything like this as a kid. Lucky kid you are."

"You know, I'd rather die than not go to Hogwarts." Raese declared.

His dad laughed. "Careful what you wish for, son. You could get both."

Raese frowned. His father was from Ireland, and he didn't understand some of his phrases.

"I'm not gonna die till I'm ready." Raese replied.

"Death comes for us all, whether we like it or not. I have a feeling though, that you, son, have plenty of years left." he turned, looking him directly in the eye. "You know, ever since you were little, you've had this fire. This flame inside."

Raese smiled, slightly confused.

"You burn hot and bright, and I see that flame spreading in the future. Everything it touches . . . son, you can do whatever you put your mind to. If you wished, you could set the world ablaze. You've been given power," he gestured towards the package containing the wand. "And I know its for a reason. So, whether that flame burns short and bright, or goes on steadily, know that you're the greatest Theane to set foot on this earth."

Raese nodded. "Thanks?"

His father smiled in reply. "You'll understand those words, eventually. For now though, we need to buy you a cauldron."

She is short but average in all other ways, and constantly smudged in dirt from her beloved plants.

Big Leo/Little Leo is the funniest rivalry ever. Why does a 17-year-old have mutual beef with an 11-year-old 😂

Hey Archer, out of curiosity, what happens if everyone picks the same house?

-----------

It's hard, so hard, to make school robes look remotely fashionable. You can't change the color, you can't change the cut, you can't even change the trim because that's House assigned!

Still, Azalea and Vera did their best. When everyone had to have the same robes, you learned to accessorize. Scarves with more interesting patterns than just the House colors! Cute hair clips! Belts! Fun necklaces and bracelets! Last year, Azalea had worn enchanted moth hair-clips to match Vera's butterflies - it had been their thing.

This year...maybe it was time to try heels. She was already a little taller than Vera, but it would be fun to tower over her!

Were capes in this year? She could have sworn she saw another older boy also swishing around in a gorgeous green cape. Wildly impractical for everyday wear, but maybe they could add capes to their dress robes... Maybe a capelet, to be daring?

She looked for Vera to get her opinion on a lacy, spiderweb shawl, and stopped. "Vera, no, the feather boa is pretty, but no."

Then, she spotted a figure looking very lost. "Oh hey! Vera, look! It's your boy from before!" ( @coco.pudding @Through the Living Mist)

------

Welcome @Miss Fallen! Your brother and I go way back! And by way back I mean we've stabbed each other in the back a couple times, and one time I saved his team from certain doom :P

If you'd like, I'd be happy to sketch your character too! Just drop me a description!

Also Mist, I am no longer romancing you, because Trance is 11 xD

Raese glanced at his father as they navigated the packed streets. His father was a muggle, but he was still a good man, at least to him. He worked in publishing, but that powerful build marked a man raised on an Irish farm. He was kind and gentle, but powerful and dangerous when necessary.

"Father?" Raese asked, tugging on his robes.

He turned. "Eh?" he said, in his friendly way.

"You said I'm like fire . . ."

Father laughed. "I can't explain that now. You'll figure it out eventually."

"But . . ." Raese persisted. "Fire is dangerous, right? I'm not dangerous." he pause. "Right?"

His father grimaced. "You're magical, Raese. That means you have power. And anyone with power is dangerous. You, however . . ." he smiled, ruffling Raese's curls. "You'll do something great. Remember what I said earlier?"

Raese nodded.

"Remember it. Keep it to the grave."

Some lesser god in the skies realizes his pawn hasn’t interacted with anyone yet.
“Now Orpheus, I want you to be a good example for the youngsters. You’re a fifth year, I expect you to make Head Boy and do something this year,” Agrus Grey told Orry as he basically shoved him into Diagon Alley. “Yes, Father,” Orry replied, straightening his clothes and glancing around for his fellow fifth years. “And use your extra spending money for something worthwhile, this time. Im generous with you for a reason! Now have a good afternoon,” Agrus trumpets before leaving Orry slightly frustrated and underwhelmed by the familiar experience.

I’d like to say that I’ve only stabbed you once, while you’ve done it to me like 3 times. But yeah, you did do that. (Random thought but I don’t think I’ve played a game where one of us isn’t an Elim)

————

Trance made his way into the shop, marveling at the sheer variety of everything. He was really only there for robes, but Trance couldn’t help but feel impressed by it all.

He attempted his way through the stuffed shelves and hangers and baskets and everything else. Who knew black would be so hard to find?

Though at this point, Trance would’ve counted himself lucky to have found the exit again. There was bound to be another shop with black robes.

Probably.

He had seen someone with a cape, which did look absolutely amazing. But Trance didn’t think he could pull one off. Besides, everyone would think he’d was so arrogant for it. Wandering around with a cape like all the older students.

Plus he would probably fall or trip or get tangled in it or something. It was best to go without a cape. Especially since he didn’t know his house yet. Though he had liked the look of a silver one. Black and silver seemed to go together.
————

edit: yeah, that’d be weird. So fair. That said, if you wanted you could always make Azalea a 2nd year and it wouldn’t be as weird, but do what you like.

Edit 2: either that or Trance missed the cut off(turned 11 during the school year so he’s 12 now) or he somehow has never bought anything for himself

What, you think everyone on the fantasy author fan site will be a Ravenclaw?

There are mechanical incentives to join smaller houses, and social incentives to make a party PM. It's not game-breaking if a house is missing.

Jane wandered through Diagon Alley, completing errands by rote. Six years of school had been torture! Only one to go; maybe she could get a few more mandrakes to celebrate. Determined to make this quick, she pulled her long brown hair into a messy bun and put her ever-present earmuffs back on. Then, she dove back into the crowd, everyone towering above her despite her age.
Wandering absentmindedly, she saw a great deal of students sporting brand new capes. Was this a rebellion against the school uniform, or just a temporary fad? Hmm, better leave the masses to their nonsense. They’d only be easier to mess with if they came to close to her precious Womping Willow- yes, it was the school’s on paper, so what? She had claimed it and that was that.

Suddenly one of the surrounding conversations registers, bringing Jane to a halt. “… I’m like fire…” @TwinStorm

Jane turns back and sizes up the speaker. Yes, they’re a student- that could be trouble. Stalking up to the curly haired kid she warns, “You bring any fire near my greenhouses and I will hex you. I take fire warnings very seriously.”

Raese took a step back, intimidated by the sudden appearance of a student. "Oh! Uh, no, not like that . . ." he paused, terrified at the woman in front of him and her death stare. "Uh, no fire near your greenhouses, ma'am, none whatsoever . . ."
