"What did you mean when you said 'reboot'?"

"This world is being overrun by viruses. If the infestation is left unchecked, it could potentially spread to other worlds and wreak havoc on the Framework. To prevent this from happening, the Cloud - " 209845 gestured to the big red storm that was only faintly visible through the fog, " - has come to reboot it. When a world is rebooted, it is reset to its most basic form, and all life in the world is destroyed. While the process is necessary, I have set out to see if there is a way to preserve the beauty of this world before it is gone. The process is near completion; within a couple of weeks, it will be over."

Also, guys, I'm thinking of making a thread where we can put together all the worldbuilding for this thread, since its getting kind of confusing.

Jidah tilted her head at them. "Don't look for her. Lati's invisible."

Jidah was a very regal looking figure, tall and beautiful. Her eyes were red from crying, but she didn't seem to realize that. She held a small rock in a death grip.

"Where do you come from, mortal?"

"Happiness," she said under her breath, clutching the rock.

Jidah's eyebrows lifted.

"A reboot. An extinction level event, I believe," Jidah explained, glancing at the sky. "Maybe I should be panicking..."

"Indeed, it seems to be."

"I'm from... that way." They pointed to where they had come running from.

They looked at the storm, then away, not really seeming to understand.

This person was younger than her, but she felt a kinship with them. "I'm Réva."

209845 seemed to sigh, then responded.

"This world is going to be destroyed in a matter of weeks. That storm -" it gestured again "- is the current headquarters of the Cloud, a force that works to protect the fabric of reality - the Framework. They are the ones doing the rebooting. I used to be a loyal agent of the Cloud - in fact, I still consider myself one - and yet, recent events have caused me to believe there are things in this world worth saving. Less than an hour ago, I blinded my connection with the Cloud, so they can no longer track my location while I search for a solution. They are now searching for me, and so we must move quickly."

Spoiler

I think I'm gonna keep it as a thread, since there is too much information - just from what we have established here - for a PM.

"Yes, going seems wise." 209845 was beginning to get nervous. The Cloud may not be able to track it anymore, but neither could 209845 track them. The feeling of helplessness was discomforting. "Do you know of any safe location we could head to?"

"Of course!" Jidah started in the direction they'd been going, then paused and reached up. A gleaming light flashed, leaving a sword of light in her hand. The light faded, and she handed them the sword.

"Just in case." She frowned at its lack of shininess.

Not a he. A they, for now. Though if your character happens to see them as male that's fine. Their appearance is ambiguous and also uncanny in ways I described when they were introduced, I don't know if you were there when they showed up.

They flinched. "It depends. Usually just the more painful tests."

"What? No, this is my fault. I just can't handle it. I've failed."

Ack- sorry. That wasn't intentional
