In the past, one trend has remained constant throughout the roleplaying subform. Largely, rps with a "premise", carefully prepared, fail, due to a lack of interest, compared to rps like Fellowship of the Thing, or TLT, some of the largest threads on the Shard, which thrive as Sharders invest in a world they're interested in and create.

So, let's try this again. An experiment. A chaotic/everything rp in the style of FotT/Insanity Clinic, that hopefully won't die, proving my theory right. Pls join, and have fun!

Owen sat on the rock, looking around nervously. That storm was not normal. Red lightning was never normal. Also, the lack of rain disturbed him. He glanced at the sword in his lap. His father's sword, taken from the tribes of Hav'lon in the Northern Campaign. Now it was his. Carefully forged steel, engraved with ancient runes.

Something rustled. "Hello?" he said, standing up urgently, terrified.

Ooh fun - a use for my ghost wizard! Anybody need a mentor?
It is taking a lot of willpower to avoid putting Rebus in here.

The Tormentor watched, unable to manifest. The blasted lightning was interfering with his own magic! Regardless, perhaps this man could carry on his legacy.

A comet streaked through the sky and landed not far from Owen with a huge crash.

He should probably go check it out.

The thing that had rustled was a bush.

Owen stabbed the bush, terrified. He chided himself. Stupid. That was something he should've grown out of, stabbing at bushes and shadows.

Owen yelped, clutching his blade. He cowered for several minutes, but curiosity got the best of him, and he crept towards the meteor.

The bush was simply a bush.

"HEYA!" someone yelled in his ear.

The Tormentor, being a ghost, was invisible at the moment. But maybe… he flickered for a moment, then lost the spell to the interference from the storm. His voice was still projected, though. “Hello? Can you hear me?”

A woman scrambled up out of the crater, brushing off a simple but luxurious white dress and looking very angry. She was covered in ash.

". . . yeah."

“So at least I can still do that. That’s a good sign. You can call me Tray - my titles don’t matter anymore.”

"Where are you?" he asked hesitantly, most of his attention on his immediate surroundings.

“I’m tied to my amulet, but I can’t see it. It should be nearby, though - probably buried or something. To clarify, I’m a ghost.”

"Oh." That was probably the least strange thing that had happened tonight. "Okay. Gimme a sec. I have some people who I don't know about."

“Thank you for your aid.” Tray waited, attempting to search for his amulet around where it had been before he had gone dormant.

Sivu,” she spat. “My name is Jidah Ka Orum, mortal. Where is Tialin?”

"Who? Also, are you going to hurt me? Cuz me and my ghost friend don't like being hurt." he said, blade still pointed at her, though quivering.

“I died, of course. I was a necromancer when I was alive - not the silly new nonsense, about corpses walking and death bolts, but proper necromancy - calling spirits to speak to.”

“I’m not going to hurt you, nor cidu. Calm down.” She scowled. “Nojih ke suju, how far have your people fallen? Do they not still tell stories?”

"Oh. Huh. Weird."

Réva sat nearby. She didn’t care too much for this.

Owen ignored her for now. He had enough on his plate anyway.

Just now, Through The Living Glass said:

There was no one there.

"Hehe."

"Stop it! Are you another ghost?"

She pinched the bridge of her nose. “Cidu fol re. No, nor. Stories of me, and the others.”
