"Alright." The man sighed, then walked away.

"But do you know anything about the end? If not, then you are not what I am looking for." The man says with anger in his voice. The Fox could sense pure hatred of you in his voice, but willingness to receed, at least for now. He begins to walk away.

The strange figure seems to stand still, as if split. If you dare to steal a glance at him, he will feel one overwhelmingly strong sentence explode in his head.

Well that's just offensive. Calling me 'that', cmon. I have a name ya know.

As Ver slowly regained a sense of reality, he felt his vision swim. Within him, his code worked frantically, trying to piece things together. A being, with a knife of darkness. A hooded figure, standing at the edge of his vision. The knife approaching. Oxy...

Oxymoron was dead. By the Framework, the goddamn Primal Oxymoron was dead. No, not just Oxymoron... they all were. Ver lay in the rain, shaken. In his databooks, the Primals were immortal. They transcended time, incarnations of the Framework itself. Beings of myth, until he had met one, that short time in which his existence had begun to make sense. Oxymoron had seemed insane, and yet, Ver had found a kinship in him when he stood against the Cloud. In that moment, he had seemed so human, so tangible... and now he was gone.

The rain continued to pour.

Oxymoron had sent out a final message, Ver concluded. Why he had received it, so powerfully, he could not fathom. But something in the energy had unlocked a piece of his consciousness he hadn't been able to access before - his memories from Before. In a phenomenon Ver didn't know any other agent of the Cloud to display - not that he really knew any others - he couldn't remember anything from before That Day. He knew the logs were there, he could feel them; they just weren't his to access. But the force of Oxy's message had broken the walls that held them back, and for a second, he had tasted them - before something pushed them back again. And now, they would not leave him alone. The taste had made him hunger.

Ver shook his head. No, no, no. No, he couldn't think about that now. He needed to survive. He needed to... what was that. A voice.

Ver choked out a phantom sob. Lati wasn't here. No, she couldn't be. She had vanished, along with the others, into the nothing when the Others arrived. He had seen it, right before his eyes. They were talking, and then the explosions began. The barrier went up, and Ver screamed, but he was too late. The others fell away, and then they came for him, banishing him to this damned world of storms and thunder.

But the voice didn't go away, and there was another voice with it. It sounded like... Réva's. They were talking about... someone's mom? No, that didn't make sense. Ver shakingly raised an arm, reaching out into the downpour, hoping to feel the burning that would mean she was real.

Oh, Singularity, he hoped she was real.

As Lati and Réva kept talking, Ver looked around the new environment. They were all suddenly within a meadow, surrounded by a grove of trees. And yet, as Ver payed close attention, the air beyond the trees seemed to shimmer. As if it wasn't real.

Was this truly happening? Or was it all just in his head, some sort of extended response to Oxymoron's message? Or was even that just a glitch?

He chose to believe this was truly happening. But he did not lower his guard, for he was filled with the sinking sensation that someone - or something - had brought them here.

A suspect for that someone first presented itself in the form of the figure that had eluded him before, in his post-message haze. As soon as Ver's vision fell upon him, a phrase blasted into his head.

Well that's just offensive. Calling me 'that', cmon. I have a name ya know.

Storm. Another mindreader. Ver projected a message into his own consciousness, towards the creature.

And by what name shall I call you?

Ver snapped back to their conversation, and thought for a second.

"I suppose I could try..." he said sheepishly. He didn't know where Lati was at the moment, but he extended an arm for her. "If you'd like me to try to identify anything acting upon you, I need to make contact. It'll hurt for me, but only a little."

Vox.

Ver tested out the name. He liked it, and not only because it was reminiscent of his own.

It was a fitting name for a voice in his head.

Ver withstood the pain, and sure enough, in an instant, it was gone. But this time, unlike the others, he held onto it, grafting the information of the sensation into his Web database. A simple search, a simple thought, and the waiting began.

Ver froze.

First Oxy's message, and now this. It couldn't be a coincidence. He chose his next words with extreme care.

I know it nears.

So you know of it. What else?

Vox was excited, he hadn't gotten such a reaction from anyone except the Ones Who Heralded.

But he needs to know more.

Hi! Back!

Lati waited anxiously.

Anything you want it to be! What happened to Lati and her mother happened a long, long time ago, so the town she lived in before would look super different anyway. I'll make up smth if you don't want to, ofc, but thought you might enjoy it ^_^

Could be wrong ofc so lmk ❤️
