“Good,” she approved. “Stab.”

“Are you a book?” Jidah chimed in, straightfaced.

"No." he said, mildly annoyed.

"Oh! So . . . the books live in the building? And the building where they live is called a library? Do you live in a library?"

"Yes . . . well I work there, sometimes. Make sure the books are happy."

"Uhh . . . I don't know. Just the way it is."

"Are you not a deity? For what do you need sleep?"

209845 asked, curious to discover more about this being. It looked around, then leaned in near the fox, bringing its audio level down.

"Listen: the people here are in more danger than they realize. You know this area; can you get us to a safe location? I want to help you, but we need to move."

"I'm not born of the Day, you know. It taxes me. What is safe?" The Bleached fox ponders, "There are caves beneath us, but who knows what hides down there?"

Bleached as in its color is fading?

"We don't have much of a choice. If we move into the town, we will stand out too much. The caves it is."

209845 observed the party. Now it only had to convince them that this was the best course of action...

Hmm... we should have somewhere were we keep track of plot, too.

Anyway, I don't know how much you missed, but just in case, lets rewind quite a bit.

The fox got Jidah and 209845 an audience with the Sun, an extremely powerful local deity. The Sun revealed to Jidah that she had been cast down for her sins and had to find out what they were to regain her immortality. 209845, on the other hand, had some serious character development moments. It decided that this world had beauty worth saving, and with the help of the Sun, blinded its connection with the Cloud (so they can no longer track its location).

They left the vision with the Sun dropped off somewhere in the Dusklands, near a town, where they ran into number 17 (@The Aspiring Activist's character), a nonbinary test subject who had just escaped from their captors and clearly suffered severe trauma.

The Cloud has likely initiated a search for 209845, and so the party is now looking for a safe location to camp out and make plans, I guess.

⬆️ The summary I gave TwinStorm.

Right now, 209845 is talking to the fox trying to figure out if they can get somewhere safe, Jidah is teaching 17 to sword fight, and Owen is tired.

Yes. It's been slowly loosing color since the sun rose.

"Do you have a pack or anything I can sleep in?" The white fox says, starting to nod off.

209845 began to lose it. Why was nobody taking it seriously?

"NO! Listen to me, stay awake! I need you to get us to the caves, do you understand? CAVES. We need to get under cover. If you sleep now, I will ZAP YOU!"

209845 began to overheat, warming the air around them. Every second, the Cloud drew closer. Every second, they're chances of getting caught grew higher. 209845 didn't want to be reset...

“Calm down! We’re going to the caves.”

"Just keep walking..." the white fox yawns, and points to a hill. "On the base of that hill, beneath an oak..." It rolls it's eyes "As if your zap would hurt."
