Her breath shuddered. "I'm gonna die," she whispered.

"And why is that so bad?"

“Yes, we should.” 209845 turned to the others. “Shall we enter the town?” It looked around at the ragtag group. If they went into civilization, it would cause quite a stir…

"Yes, I like that idea!"

She seemed very optimistic about the whole thing.

"I'm mortal! I'm gonna die!!"

"Everything comes to an end, though. Nothing, not even immortals, last forever."

"One day, you will be forgotten by all those who love you. One day, you will be encased within the stone ruins of a broken temple, and then you will realize that you have died. The only thing that matters is making sure that you are memorable, enough to be forgotten slowly than the others. Who can last the longest? It's the person who is unforgettable."

"Uh . . . Rhyme? I don't think she likes that very much . . ."

Rhyme frowned. She didn't like frowning, but Lati had a point.

Jidah maybe didn't need this right now.

She would get it later. The Game would come to her, as it does to all people.

Right now, however, maybe Jidah needed some comfort.

"I-- You look nice today," Rhyme said. "Being mortal isn't all bad. There's more than just the end."

"Maybe avoid talking about dying," Lati whispered.

"I always look nice. I'm... I'm a goddess..."

She looked toward her and smiled uncertainly through her tears.

Réva had lost the plot a few pages ago.

Jidah is mortal now, the Cloud is coming, and Lati and Rhyme are trying to comfort Jidah because she doesn't know how to get her immortality back after the Sun God took it away.

That's all, I think . . .

Sun god guy did present a way for Jidah to get her Immortality back, but she's gotta go through some charchter development first.

least through that route. She could always eat the fox.

"Jidah... what makes you happy?"
