The vision cracks again, and the whole scene falls away like the dropping of a veil. They're outside of a town now, instead of where they were. It's noon, and everything seems normal. The wind rustles through the trees, and worms writhe under your feet.

Jidah feels one last certainty, fading shortly after the vision. She must learn to be mortal to return.

"So how did it go?" The pale fox giggles softly

Most of the flesh had been melted off Rhyme's hand when Lati touched her. @echo74

"I don't think hands are supposed to look like that?"

”Can you fix @echo74’s hand?”

"I like my hand like this, actually. It's more different-er."

Jidah buried her face in her hands.

"Yeah, but- she's really mean."

A pause.

"And I think I hurt Rhyme . . ."

"Sorry," she whispered. "Sorry, I..."

". . . Can you ask her to fix it?" she asked, referring to Jidah.

"I can still fix it. Or I could make it stay that way but not hurt." She scrubbed her face hastily with her hands.

Rhyme giggled. "Sure! As much as I'd love a weird hand, I'd rather have an attractive one." She held up her bad hand, waving it around.

Rhyme considered this. "Yeah, I think so."

Jidah sniffled again and stepped forward, cupping Rhyme's hand. A brilliant light flashed, and her hand was perfect again.

Jidah backed away, then wandered off to find a rock to curl up behind.

She didn't know how to respond to that. She sat down on top of a rock, curling her feet up.

She sniffled. Tears began to roll down her cheeks, so she wiped them away with her hand, looking bewildered.

Rhyme felt conflicted. Which wasn't a good thing. The Game...

"You've been through a lot today, haven't you?"

"I... I don't know what that means." She growled, frustrated, rubbing more tears away. "Why won't it stop??"
