"I'll die!"

She broke into legitimate, fearful sobs.

"We all die. We're all forgotten, eventually. Even immortals. In the end, it doesn't really matter what we do, because we all die."

"But you will. It's inevitable. You will die, and you will be forgotten," she said. "That's why you have to smile. It makes you forget about it for a minute. And then... maybe you won't die as much."

209845 watched, captivated. What Rhyme said was not necessarily true… it was physically possible for many things to last forever, especially those that navigated the Web. And yet, it could not help but admire the message in her words.

Her panicked tears didn't stop.

"That doesn't make ANY SENSE!"

The pale fox calls cap. Even reality will die, one day.

It’s supposed to be its unit number. There are at least 209845 members of the Cloud. They don’t really do much for individuality 🤷‍♂️

I quoted you earlier, don’t know if you looked at it. Basically, 209845 wants to move the party to a safe location since the Cloud will be launching a hunt for it soon, and right now they’re outdoors.

The fox giggles "Well I suppose you should get a'moving! Before that storm comes and kills us all!"

The vision cracks again, and the whole scene falls away like the dropping of a veil. They're outside of a town now, instead of where they were. It's noon, and everything seems normal. The wind rustles through the trees, and worms writhe under your feet.

Jidah feels one last certainty, fading shortly after the vision. She must learn to be mortal to return.

"Ah, how wonderful," Sigismund says cheerfully, his blackened mustache still letting off wisps of smoke.

Hmm.

The not-mortal seemed really sad.

Lati slowly crept over the rocks towards her.

"Uh . . . hi . . ."

Sigismund pulls out a funny-looking mechanical watch. "I know exactly when I'm going to die!" he exclaims. "Seven years 6 months twenty-one days fourteen hours one minute and thirty-two seconds!"

I think the storm he’s referring to is the big red one from before, which is the temporary Cloud headquarters. Might be something else though, since that storm isn’t going anywhere

“Yes, we should.” 209845 turned to the others. “Shall we enter the town?” It looked around at the ragtag group. If they went into civilization, it would cause quite a stir…
