IMPORTANT QUESTION

  1. 1. What do you want to happen to this RP when the current plotline ends?

    • Start another RP of the same characters, like a season 2
      3
    • Keep going with no plan at all
      0
    • Make new characters and have an RP of a similar concept, but, effectively with a new party
      3
    • End the RP (THIS ONE BETTER NOT WIN BUT I FELT I HAD TO ADD IT ANYWAYS)
      1

“If we’re testing a grenade, we shouldn’t throw it at a person. I’m not rebuilding your glasses if you get yourself broken.”

"Yep. Not at me."

"Dang it."

From above, you hear Meryyn's voice.

He sent one of his strike teams... They'll be armed with rifles, but not great ones. He doesn't see you as much of a threat. They might also have throwable explosives, or some kind of hand-held minigun.

Glinte looks up in confusion.

“What’s a minigun?”

Sleeper grins. "Hell yeah, lets do this"

Tenth grins, then studies the rooms. He identifies the most likely point of entry, standing an apt distance from this point and aiming his rifle at the place. “Ready.”

"It's like a gun, but it shoots really fast. Like, 50 shots per second. Will tear you up and it's horrible. Usually a little inaccurate so as long as we get rid of it as quick as possible, we'll be fine."

Larry moves to another spot, looking at the spots Tenth doesn't cover, and trains his blaster. He makes a makeshift barrier to hide behind out of the beds and crates. As he waits, he eats the food from the supply closet, finally nourishing himself since (However long it's been since the farm).

The entry point, from what you can tell, is a trapdoor in the ceiling, on the other side of the room of the medical area.

Nick holds a railgun rifle in each hand, which is certainly not their intended weapon positions, but he probably knows what he’s doing. He’s stuck some stretchy xenosuit filaments to them, presumably so he can drop one to reload the other, without losing it. He also has his wings and glaive, as well as several grenades, stowed at his back. “Alright! I think I can take most of the projectiles these guys can throw; the xenosuit won’t completely stop a modern rifle point-blank, but it will make them much less dangerous. Aki and Kaleb, set yours to bulletproofing as well. If they have a duel incendiary-shrapnel grenade, I’ll fall back to fix my suit.” Nick takes position somewhere he can hopefully take fire that would hurt someone else, but not too much; even outdated rifles can probably hurt him if he gets hit enough. “I’ve also got some biotech bandages; those will duplicate skin and replenish blood. Again, Aki and Kaleb, you should grow some too.”

Thumping footsteps sound above you, that of at least ten people. They approach the trapdoor, and it swings open (opens upwards) for a moment, and a grenade is dropped down.

Then the trapdoor is slammed and the footsteps dash away from it.

Nick dashes forward, trying to open the trapdoor and throw the grenade back up. Who knows if he has enough time, though.

He fully has enough time. The grenade detonated as it goes through, and the trapdoor is blown from its hinges. You hear at least one person shout in surprise and then pain.

I keep changing tenses mid-sentence. Oops. Lol

Nick tries to determine what kind of grenade it was.

I don’t think we should play out this entire fight before anyone else has a chance to act. It feels unfair.

Kaleb kinda just sits there. He’s never seen explosives that powerful before.

Nick pings OWEN. “I don’t have time to talk to him; can you snap him into battle mode? The moon crystals will be useful for countering the grenades. Is his xenosuit ready yet? I think you’ve seen why those grenades are not to be messed with.”

It was a regular explosive + Shrapnel grenade.

Uh oh. That would actually get through the suit. Nice could tank one of them, but then he’d be very hurt by the next.

Nick, having an idea, pulls out a grenade and some adhesive and hands them to Sleeper. @TheRavenHasLanded “Stick this to a flying dagger, pull the pin, and go explode that squad.”

“The suit looks fine; it should take one hit close range before Kaleb starts getting hurt, but what I meant was Kaleb. Is he fine with an adrenaline infusion or something? He looks a little shell shocked.”

As Nick returns the grenade back up, Larry begins widely firing at the ceiling, towards where the footsteps and shouts came from. He shouts over the blasts, "Does anyone see some way to get up there? Or really, anywhere else to go but the closet?"

The blasts hit the ceiling but do not pierce it.

Nick’s voice crackles from the communicator - no reason to announce plans louder than necessary. “We could stack the cots, I could electrolysis my ballast and jump, one our two teleporters could take us… there are plenty of ways, the problem is that once we go up there we’ll be the ones in a choke point. Do any of our several actual military commanders have any ideas?” he asks, routing the question to@SpiritOfWrath and @Ancient Elantrian

Hehe. Yes.

Let me think. We don’t want choke, and in this situation no loss is acceptable.

They are coming from the ceiling… hhhmmm…

Why is the trapdoor the only thing we want?

What if we blast a hole in the ceiling?

“I don’t like the trapdoor… it is where they will expect us to be. Perhaps… why do we need to go through the trapdoor, then? Perhaps we can onpen a second entry point by way of explosive? If we choose the right point, we might also be able to stun them for a while, as well as drop them down here.” Tenth said quietly.

“Ok, then. Have you ever tried teleporting just part of something? I think that would be quieter than explosives.”
@The Stormfather, what is the ceiling made from?

Tenth nodded slowly. “It is theoretically possible. For what separates an object and its surroundings except our minds? I am only worried because I have to wait a couple seconds before teleporting again.”

Nick is silent for a moment, thinking. “So you couldn’t use it in actual combat, but if you took a reasonably sized hole out of the ceiling over there, you could bring it somewhere they can’t shoot at you while you recover. It’d also be good for metalworking, I bet.”

Tenth hesitated, then nodded. “If I can get up there - I’ll need to be in contact with the ceiling - I might be able to teleport myself like that.”

“It has been used in many many things.”
