Lerac looked to Insa and Bookwyrm. "Do you think Saar will try to harm us all if we say no?"

What do we tell them?

@The Bookwyrm

You know her better than I do.

"Personally, I'd love nothing more than getting Saar off our backs. But she doesn't have a track record of being honest. At this point it's between the lesser of two evils."

The memory of Kaos was not a pleasant one to Bookwyrm, and thus his view of Zelos was definitely darkened.

That war was bigger than I think any of us realized. Even Calano... It didn't help that nothing was consistent in the Clinic's multiverse. Reality on the widest scales was still subject to interpretation...but the evil wrought in the Kaos war was undeniable.

"I'll go along with whatever seems best for our situation. But, in the event that we do get one of them gunning for us, I'd remind you that we aren't powerless. Insa and I fought in the Kaos War, and I have a powerful god of my own on my side. If conflict is really inevitable I think we can handle ourselves."

"I also have support in my corner. I'd rather just deal with some upset minor gods than actively put all of us in a dangerous and unknown situation, or choose to go along with someone who in all likelihood does not have our best interests in mind."

Wow. Thanks. You’re so helpful.

Insa thought for a moment.

“Saar wasn’t always like this. She used to be sweet. I don’t know what caused the switch. But now she’s manipulative and violent. You can’t trust her to do anything. She only does what she thinks is best for her. The reason we’re even in this situation is because I wasn’t doing what she wanted. I’m almost certain that if we refuse she’ll try to harm us.”

”The god Bookwyrm is talking about is reliable but Lerac I don’t mean to be rude or anything but what reason does Death have to help any of us other than you?”

That is comforting…

She nodded. “Alright.”

“I’d say that eliminates helping her as an option, at least.”

Ella frowned as she continued to work.

”I don’t like that.”

She looked up for a moment and noticed the sparks and her frown deepened.

“That’s strange. I think it took your magic. I guess that explains why my ribs are better.” A spark lands on Veer’s arm, and heals a tiny bit back a corrupted spellsteel. “That’s not good.”

The circlet was actually quite beautiful. She touched it and . . . well, she wasn't sure exactly how to "push magic into it," as the man had said. So she just used her magic normally.

She gasped.

There was something else that needed to be removed . . . something other than the metal.

Something darker.

Veer looks at her. “Did you realize your powers are way stronger than you thought? I haven’t lent this to many people, but one man went from conjuring soot to conjuring diamonds when he put it on. Apparently they’re incredibly useful if you can find ones large enough, and they’re made of soot or something like it.”

Oh yeah, Veer is full of normal spellsteel as well as corrupted. Depending upon how the powers work, you might be able to tell that that specific ability has been overclocked, and should be running way slower.

“Do you think I could try to pull more of that magic out? Or do you think it would just hurt you more?”

“What do you mean? Removing the healing magic? That seems like a good idea. Removing the spellsteel itself seems to not work as well.”

She focused her attention to the golden sparks that were floating trying to recall them back to her.

"I have the freedom to do more than Death can. Anyway, Saar needed me to bring you that chip to be able to find you two. I'm the one she's connected to, so if you stay away there's not so much risk to you. I'll just have to handle her alone."

The sparks go easily, but they are messed up. You can't put them back in the well of magic where they are supposed to be. The metal starts to make more of them.

"I'm not going to let you handle her alone. Besides I still owe you something. This doesn't cover in any way what I owe you. Saar will hurt you if you turn down her delay and she has very easy access to do so at the moment. And Zelos from what we can tell and know will be mad if you break into one of his temples."

She cursed under her breath. And started to draw those ones in with the ones she already had.

The new sparks and the old sparks stay there, but the metal makes additional ones. "That's draining some of my power," notes Veer.

"No, it's not that . . . I can see what I need to seperate now." She tired to Reveal the corruption.

The corruption is a piece of change metamagic. Without it, the spellsteel begins to sparkle again, colors it reflects prismatic. Healing magic and some raw telekinesis are unbound from the mess, sending out ordinary golden sparks and rustling objects around the room. The corruption itself lacks a form, so it keeps trying to jump towards whatever magic you put it near.
