Zelos nodded slowly and thought for a moment.

”Well I can’t get Saar to leave you alone but I can offer and alternative to the other problem. There are items that will and extract and hold magic like that. And I know of a temple where one is. There would still be lots of work and such involved but it would solve that problem without relying on Saar. Or destroying a temple.”

"Would that be a permanent solution?"

Aora beamed inwardly. "I think I can help," she said, grinning slightly.

"So if I can't touch it directly . . . could I use gloves?"

Veer smiles. “That’s great! I don’t actually know if it will spread by touch, but I don’t want to risk it. So yes, gloves are probably a good idea.” The corrupted spellsteel isn’t just grey, it mutes colors in its crisp reflections. And even stranger, things closer to it have greyer reflections than things far away; perhaps if something was far enough its colors would be intact.

“Of course you can heal people without magic.” Ella laughed. “Have you ever been to Earth?”

She watched them interact for a moment.

”You can keep talking and figuring out this magic stuff.” She pointed to Veer. “I’m going to try to get this on you. When you say you can’t be touched you mean like skins contact right?”

“Earth, the synonym for dirt? I’m from the Lawless; it would be past your Edge, I think.” Veer moves his leg to make it easier, hissing in pain but not flinching. “As I said, I don’t actually know how it spreads, or if it will. We could test it, but I don’t want any telekinetic lab rats made from nearly impenetrable metal running around.” The rash has reached the top of his thigh, but is far enough from the break that touching it won’t be a problem. Oddly, the rash area there is long and thin, going down the leg instead of spreading evenly.

Zelos nodded. “Once the magic is out of you the last thing it will want to do is go back in you. Even if it were to be released from the item it wouldn’t afflict you anymore.”

Ella quickly but carefully wrapped the break. She secured it with a small device. It made a small dinging noise as she stepped back.

”It’s started to work and it’s administering some painkilling and numbing agents to that area so it shouldn’t hurt as much. Let me know if you think it’s too tight or something is wrong.”

She glanced over the wrap one more time to make sure it was all secured correctly.

”Now aren’t there also some issues with your ribs?”

Aora nodded.

"Do you have any gloves I-I could use?" she asked the nurse quietly.

“Thank you. Yes, my ribs are broken, or at least bruised. Although they hurt less than they did earlier. Maybe it’s just those painkillers.”

"Thank you," she said, sitting back down. She put the gloves on and, taking a deep breath, gingerly tapped the metal covering the man.

@Dragonheir

The metal gives a bit, bending at what is apparently a seam. It’s springy there, which is a strange texture for metal. But nothing bad seems to happen.

Neltan gasped, opening the door to the lobby and staggering to the receptionist's desk, not sure what to do.

A bird flew over to him, but as it landed it turned into a tan man with slicked back hair and a suit. “Welcome to the Insanity Clinic. How can we help you?”

The bird looked behind it. I should go. I’ll be at my desk. It flew off.

“I’ll let her do her thing and then I’m gonna need to wrap your chest too. I may to try do some sort of x-ray as well depending on how this goes.”

Neltan sighed, leaning against the wall. "People keep attacking me!" he gasped, "it doesn't matter where, whether it's a street, a mall, a restaurant, even the zoo! It doesn't matter! I keep getting attacked."

"Yeah, I thought you guys could help me. But these attacks are completely random, I don't know any of these people! I'm worried... I'm worried about my brother. I think he's going to attack me next. It sounds stupid, I know, but what if it is?" Neltan's voice grew steadily higher as he spoke.

“Hey, calm down. Why do you think your brother will attack you?”

"I don't know! It's just it keeps on happening and I..." his voice broke but what he did not say was clear. I think I'm going insane.

“It’s alright. There’s other people here who you can talk to, more qualified to help than I am. I can get you a room though, and if you need someone to vent to, I’m usually here.”

“Would you like an isolated room, or one near other people?”

"Oh, not near other patients, at least for right now. But some people nearby. Like experts. Just so I can talk to somebody."

“Ok, that would probably help. What’s an x-ray? Is it like the leg device? Or these?” Veer pulls out the two guns he’d taken from the thugs sent for [uh. Forgot his name. @SpiritOfWrath’s main character].

Ella stared at him for a moment.

”…no. It’s a special picture that lets me see your bones.”

“Huh. I wonder how that works.” Veer puts the guns back, not realizing that carrying weapons isn’t ordinary outside of his world. It is called the Lawless for a reason, after all.

“We use a special type of invisible ray. It doesn’t hurt you. Just helps us get a better idea of what’s wrong. What do you use normally to take care of medical needs?”

“That’s interesting. We use magic, generally. People with a healing Gift oftentimes channel their power through spellsteel objects, then sell them once they absorb enough power for others to use them.”
