A suspiciously warm ray of light exited the void of space and enters into the spaceship, bouncing between the walls for a fraction of a millisecond before losing interest, shooting back into space and, in a move rather atypical of normal light, turning to aim towards the planet below. A very short time later the light reached the surface of the planet and turned again, ricocheting off the scales of the stardragon there and briefly shining a blindingly bright light in the direction of the excited man speaking to the dragon before coming to a rest in a happy-seeming ray that could almost be mistaken for a normal stream of sunshine, if only the sun in question wasn't completely veiled in dark storm clouds.

"Ahh," exclaimed Jaster, squinting and moving to the side. "Huh."

The ray of light spins as if turning to look at Jaster.

I mean, that would be our group, but we’re on a spaceship. So.

"What's that noise?"

“It’s just the hyperdrive. The ship’s kind of an old model, so it’s noisy.”

"Ah." The light beneath Variance's skin also became a pulsing violet. They looked down at it, smiling slightly.

Jaster blinked. "What in the..?" He squinted up into the storm, trying to see where the light was coming from.

As Jaster fruitlessly examined the clouds above, the ray of light approached him slowly, as if curious.

The light stopped moving towards Jaster and spun around itself briefly before speaking in a voice that was reminiscent of a bright summer day. "Hello."

"Are all your spaceships made of caves?" Ayia asked. "Or are your caves made of spaceships?"

Allera laughed — a throaty cackle. “No. This one’s just outfitted for people like me, who don’t want others to know they have a spaceship.

“It doesn’t send out any signals, either, so it’s nigh-impossible to track.”

Neither do I! Just don’t fall out of the sky. It would make a hole in the spaceship and we would all die.

"Nigh-on impossible," Ayia corrected, having been raised to use only the best of grammar. "Anyhoo, cave ships is good."
