"I was a human being who gained access to a perception-based form of magic. It is ancient, primarily used for illusions. Uniquely, I gained the ability to manifest things with a much greater impact on reality, like this staff. I'm still not entirely sure how it works or what it is capable of. Anyway, now that I was killed, I am no longer human. I am not entirely sure what I am."

Variance suddenly began spasming, staff dropping to the ground and scattering into little points of light. He coughed blood, and fell to the ground.

"If there's more to this than I first realized, I'm worried about what other elements there might be to this curse. I don't know if it's been long enough for that group of mine to dissolve..."
