“Well, yes, but you were talking about some kind of magic, too. What’s that about?” Allera found what they were looking for — a small remote with two buttons, and held it up, pressing the top button.

Immediately, the ground began to shake, and a sleek, metal wall, sliding in from the side of the cave, shut the hideout off from the rest of the cave. The hideout began to rise, recoil pressing down on its occupants.

Is recoil the right term? Ykw it’s almost midnight so sue me

Works for me ig

"Oh yeah. I guess I shoulda continued that..." Ayia grinned sheepishly. "Well basically, we can use maths to rewrite certain aspects of physics over small areas. That's why I can..."

She summoned a metal quarterstaff, holding it horizontally in front of her... then Stabalized it, bringing her hand away for it to float in place.

"My Line works the same way, just with different maths and such. It's... a lot to explain. But that's less important than the fact that I was in the middle of helping some friends of mine fight off an eldritch horror when I wound up here."

“Oh. I thought you were just using hovertech or something,” Allera said absently, tapping twice on the wall, which pulled up a control panel. Their altitude was 7,000 meters. “Wait. Eldritch horror?”

I think I might be turning in for the night soon. Idk though.

"Well... not really fighting. Kind of just corraling it away from a populated universe to let it rampage in peace before getting tired enough for us to put it to sleep."

Ok. We should probably wait for Archivist too; we’re getting off the planet, so Variance might want to weigh in

Astwyr looked apologetic. "Interstellar travel isn't necessarily simpler because I can do it at will. There's still a measure of complication to it, especially bringing someone along...aren't there spaceports on this planet you could visit?"

"I have no idea," replied Jaster ruefully. "I haven't been able to find a way out of this jungle the entire time I've been here."

Woah this spawned and grew and became in the couple days I was gone. Joining it won’t be healthy for my sleep schedule, but at the same time…

Aura fell from the sky and landed near their group.

Whose group? Because Allera, Ayia, and Variance are currently in a spaceship and that would be kind of weird if you were able to fall through the top of it.

Variance said nothing, but his presence remained visible. A small pool of blood had formed on the ground near a wall.

“There are… other universes?” said Allera, edging slowly away from the pool of blood. “Are you from another universe?”

I don't believe so. Sorry about the blood, by the way.

What does this rising room do to get them off the planet?

"Probably? It's a really long, really complicated set of doohickeys. In general it's just best not to think about it at all."

It’s a little spaceship, basically. Kind of looks like a dome; thrusters on the bottom. Runs on MagicFuel(TM). (Not actually magic, just sufficiently advanced.)

Allera checked the altitude meter — they were 15,000 meters up now, and rising.

Variance's form began to return, extremely fuzzy at first, but sharpening. Black cloak, bloody eyes.

Not fully sharp, but sharper than it was.

Allera was beginning to feel that them and Ayia had no idea what they were doing.

It was too late to turn back now, though.

20,000 meters.

Edit: I just realized that this is the 200th topic in this forum O.o

The form sharpened further. The skin was pale, and seemed to be lit from beneath. The face looked like that of a young man, except for the blood streaming from gray eyes.

Ayia managed to prevent herself from prepping a weapon - just in case.

"Part of my curse. After some time away, I should be able to change. Probably." The voice spoke from Variance's mouth now, instead of through the static.
