Jaster squinted through the rain. Could it be..? He rushed back over to the telescope. Yes: there was no mistake; the Stardragon was approaching. Unable to contain his excitement, he stuck his head out the window and began shouting enthusiastically into the storm. "Here! I'm right here!"

Astwyr came and landed in front of the strange man. He seemed...very enthused, for some reason.

"Uh, hello," he said, relying on his now automatic translation magic to translate his draconic speech into whatever language it was the man spoke.

Great. Thanks. That helps so much. "So... if 'where are you from' is the wrong question... would 'who are you' be a better one?" Allera raised their beak at Ayia - a Winged gesture of kindness, though they realized that the person might not know what it meant.

"Like I said, I'm Ayia." She waved, smiling a little. Did bird people smile? "Not spelled how you think it is. Uhm... if you do spelling here, anyways. Anyways, anyways, anyways... uhhh... I'm from a place called Edo, but if you've heard of it then it's in the Beorin Collective. Our magic there... ah, do you guys have magic?"

"You sure are dense, aren't you." They waved the torch around a bit.

The cave, which opened up on the side of a hill, appeared in front of Allera suddenly; giving the impression of a monster's gaping maw, about to swallow them whole. Inside, it was dark, and smelled vaguely musty; Allera groped around inside until they found where they had attached a torch to the wall. As they curled their wing around it, the red stone embedded in their forehead began to glow, and a small fire erupted from the top of the torch, illuminating the stone walls of the cave.

Allera gestured for Ayia to follow, then, on foot, delved deeper into the cave.

Allera's eyes filled with rage. They held the torch like a weapon, advancing towards Ayia; holding the fire close to their face. "Do. You. Know. How. Hailing hard I worked for this? How many people had to die? How dare you. Leave. Don't come back."

They ran deeper into the cave.

"Hey wait! Goodness, geeze..." Ayia jogged after her. "I'm sorry! Listen, I shouldn't of... I wasn't treating you like a person. I'm just a little freaked out okay? This sort of thing doesn't usually happen to me. Or... well, I guess it does, but not that usually. What I'm trying to say is I need help and I didn't mean to offend you."

Jaster was unable to contain a laugh of pure joy. 'You have no idea how happy I am to see you. I've been trapped here for... well, a long time."

Allera turned to face the little hailstorm.

"I said. Leave."

Astwyr hesitated.

"Trapped...? How do you mean? Like, in this building? Or on this world?"

"World. My ship crashed, and I'm an alchemist, not a mechanist!"

Ship. I see...so the Development has reached this part of the galaxy.

"Hm. So, you want me to transport you offworld?"

"Yes! Um, if it's not too much trouble."

Allera thought for a second. There was a village just south of the cave; someone there might take Ayia in. But if Ayia told anyone about them…

They didn’t think anyone would connect a random Winged living in the woods with the 100K-ilak bounty posted by the Mages’ Guild. But they couldn’t be sure. And besides, this was one of the best planets they’d been to in the past three years. The hunting was good; the weather was exciting — Allera would hate to be chased out by bounty hunters. Again.

“Actually. I changed my mind. Stay here for now. When the storm lets up, I’ll figure out where you can go.” That meant Ayia would probably be staying the night — enough time for Allera to form a more sustainable plan.

Timeskip to hideout?

Astwyr looked apologetic. "Interstellar travel isn't necessarily simpler because I can do it at will. There's still a measure of complication to it, especially bringing someone along...aren't there spaceports on this planet you could visit?"

After a few minutes of walking in silence, the two of them arrived at Allera’s hideout — a small opening at the end of the cave. It wasn’t much — a thin, rolled up mattress in one corner, a rack with some dried meat on it, and under that, a pit containing the scorched remains of some firewood.

What do you have planned for this planet? How reasonable is it for a crash-landed space traveler to get stuck there?

We have no idea!

Szeth started an ambiguous RP that has evolved into something that happens in a sci-fi fantasy interstellar universe.

You can join however you want; at this point, anything goes, I think.

Without warning, the temperature in the hideout dropped drastically, not to a level that was painful but one that was very uncomfortable. The people inside heard a sound like muffled static.

I could move this the other location or something if you have something you're doing.
