Btw folks, I am more than happy to have Perses interact with another character. At the moment, they are causing a fight in the Dealing with Death Diner in the Corridor. If you would like your character to be either present before the fight broke out or end up joining in due to the ruckus that was caused, you are more than welcome to. I suspect that @TheRavenHasLanded could make use of either scenario if they wished…

I don't know if this is how I'm supposed to be using this thread, but does anyone want to RP the police chief? It doesn't have to be a full blown character as far as I'm concerned. I figure he's just someone who's enjoying life and too lazy to actually get a working constabulary in order.

No problem! I’m always a fan of a simple post saying “I’ll be out for the next bit”, but that’s just a thing for the future. In the end, this is a small forum RP with strangers, so it is completely understandable to prioritize nearly everything above this (as you probably should).

Well, let me know if/when you want to hop in for some more RPing, and I will be more than happy to help you out. There is of course no obligation to RP though. I just wanted to check in, as you had been inactive for a bit and I was slightly wondering if it was due to wanting to RP, but having a hard time finding your way into the new episode.

Alright. I would love to enter the scene of the Alleyverse, but am at a bit of a loss for how specifically to proceed. So, I'll lay out a few thoughts here.

@Koloss17 has graciously offered to tie my character, Eighth of the Eve, into a larger background plot involving a mysterious being who is somehow influencing his character, Perses the Pseudo-Inquisitor. I am still interested, and would love to explore it in PMs, if you think it's still plausible. If not, no worries. 

@Stormlightsong my character has...had dealings with (read: straight-up married) a Smedry, formerly of the Nalhallen court. If you're interested, I would be interested in seeing how knowledge of this might play out between your character and mine. Though Eighth's Talent is not manifesting, he keeps his wedding ring---formerly a favored piece of jewelry of Elmina Smedry---on a cord around his neck. This could be recognizable to any who knew her.

To summarize, Elmina Smedry fled the Nalhallen court, worldhopping to First of the Sun via her Talent. There, she fell in love and eventually married Eighth of the Eve. The bestowing of a Smedry Talent flung Eighth into a series of intergalactic worldhops, culminating with his landing in Alleycity.*

@Lunamor it occured to me that your character, Eza, could stand out to Eighth of the Eve as strikingly similar in stature to his backstory-significant niece (despite her complexion, obviously). Theoretically, this would cause Eighth to act protective and paternal towards her, though it would only take one look at Eza's face to tell that this isn't Fourth of the Fall. This is one interaction I'm having second thoughts on, since it almost seems like a contrived way to introduce my character. Please let me know your thoughts.

I think an interaction between Eza and Eighth would be great! Currently, she is tailing Asylum after they showed that they were reckless and didn’t care if they hurt her. Eza still doesn’t want to completely leave them, however, since they were nice to her and she doesn’t want to be alone again. Depending on how their current interaction goes, she may-or-may-not continue hanging with Asylum. If she does, that could make her meeting Eighth less contrived if Stormlightsong is also interested in an interaction. I’m happy to find another way for Eza and Eighth to meet, however.

One thing to note is that she despises birds with a fiery passion, so that could be pretty funny with Seiju. She also adores anything shiny, and the mercury motivator would 100% draw her attention. It would be a straight up moth to flame level of fascination.

Edit: I will say that if you end up needing to choose between meeting Eza and meeting Asylum, I think Asylum might be the better choice.

Ah, excellent, thank you for bringing that up. I somehow missed the nuance of Eza feeling conflicted over her relationship to Asylum, so thanks for laying that out.

This gives me an idea for a rough outline of one way Eighth of the Eve might meet Eza. To set the scene:

Eighth would catch a glimpse of Eza in a large crowd, and jump to conclusions. He would pursue her and catch her attention, probably grabbing her by the arm or something. Almost immediately, he would realize he has never met this person before in his life. RP-hijinks/meaningful roleplay would ensue. Just an idea, though.

It's funny, I'm growing increasingly convinced that there are a lot of connections to be made between Eighth, Eza, and Asylum Smedry. In no particular order:

 - Eza loves shiny things

 - it is a fair assumption that, if Asylum is indeed related to Eighth's wife, he would recognize the ring

 - Eza hates bird, which Eighth has

 - It's not totally unreasonable to say Eza would remind Eighth of his niece, leading to some interesting interactions

Eighth openly wears the Rtich glove, but carries the mercury itself in a concealed fashion. In my head, it's settled into an inner lining stitched around the lower half of his leather duster.

That would be a great way to set things up! Eza keeps her hood up normally to purposefully hide her features because of a distinctive scar on her face, so her being mistaken for Fourth would definitely be feasible. Also, the ring would be (almost) as enticing to her as the mercury

I am very much still interested in that plot nuance, but the great thing is that it can be woven into the plot without need for a specific interaction. It can be an element of the plot later on, but not force you into an RP interaction. I’ll pm you the details of what I have in mind.

I doubt Asylum would recognize the ring for three reasons. 1. Asylum has ADHD and so would probably not notice or remember small details. 2. Asylum left the rest of the Smedrys when they were thirteen which was twelve years ago. There is a chance the would recognize the name of the wife but 3. Asylum has intentionally repressed memories of their childhood and has developed a distain for other Smedrys in an attempt to not hurt their family by association. Sad as I am to lose a potential storyline, I admire your commitment to character. It's something that struck me as I was reading through the Alleyverse episodes (No, I don't have a problem. Yes, I have a life).

That sounds nice! So long as you're definitely open to it, I would love to.

Part of Eighth's character is that he (tries to) eschew modernity in every sense. This extends to a distrust of technology, hence why he utilizes deceptively simple tools, or else items that seem outright magical. So it could be interesting to have him deal with someone very much "modern." That could translate to a varvax in an exosuit, a Scadrian in a fine suit, or anyone overtly advanced/tech-ey.

For such a diverse list as Eighth needs, someone with a fabricator mechanism would be best. So, this NPC should probably be a very technologically advanced character. In my head, he acts condescending towards Eighth's "primitive" appearance and requests, but that's just me. You're kind of the NPC expert
