QF60 - The Parley for Elantris

Reodar sighed. Far in the distance, so far Reodar could only see it with the help of Nae's zoom, there was an army. It was an army of Dakhor, so large it should have been impossible. He dismissed the Aon and walked down to Commander Teneler. "Too far to get a good count on their numbers. Any information from the scouts?"

"One has come back. The rest are… gone."

"Dead?"

"Yes. They caught everyone, the one who came back was allowed to. They gave him a message."

"What did they say?"

"They wish to parley."

"Are you sending Tosheom?"

"I have to. He is our best fighter if it comes to blows, and he has a vested interest in seeing the Dakhor fall. But he must be balanced. That's why I'm sending you."

"Me, what? Why?"

"You are half Fjorden, and, do not take this the wrong way, you aren't very aggressive. I think you will be the last to decide to fight."

"Who else?"

"Just an assortment of people. You two will be the leaders though."

Reodar nodded. "When are we leaving?"

"Now. Head down to the gate, everyone else is already ready to leave."

"Yes, sir," he said before leaving.

Spoiler

Basics:

Spoiler

  • 24 hour combined cycles
  • There will be a community execution each cycle
  • There will be no vote minimum
  • Ties will result in no-one dying
  • Should one Elantrian of # (pending player count) roles die, Elantris will fall and all Aonic actions will have a 50% chance of failure. If a type of Elantrian isn't present at the beginning of the game, they do not count towards this.
  • PMs are open.

Alignments:

Spoiler

Elantrians: Standard village faction, will all have a role. Must eliminate all Dakhor Monks to win.

Dakhor Monks: Standard elim faction. Will start the game with roles, and when a player is killed, the elim who placed the kill will get the option to take that player's role as their new role. They cannot do this with the Elantrian of Death. Must overwhelm the Elantrians to win.

Roles:

Spoiler

Elantrian of Death: Can use the Aon Reo to kill a player. You may kill two players, but once you kill a villager, you can no longer use your power.

Elantrian of Wisdom: Contrary to its name, this Elantrian can use the Aon Ien to heal a player, if attacked, they will not be killed. Cannot heal yourself.

Elantrian of Justice: Can use the Aon Kii to determine a player's alignment. If this encounters an Elantrian of Death that has killed a villager, it comes up as evil.

Elantrian of Watchfulness: Can use the Aon Nae to find out who visits a player of your choice.

Elantrian of Truth: Can use the Aon of Aan to find who a player visited the previous turn.

Elantrian of Silence: Can use the Aon Ate to stop a player from PMing for a turn.

Elantrian of Steadfastness: Can use the Aon Dio to roleblock a player.

I'll play as Nae, wannabee seer. She's Iad's brother, who died in the first run of this game.

Also I don't care about Aonic pronunciations, it's [Neigh], not [Neigh-ee] or [Noh-ee] or [Nah-ee] and you can never convince me otherwise

I had something come up over the weekend and I'd rather have more players, so the signups are extended until Monday, 25th of April.

Kas has spoken and prefers I postpone until Wednesday, and I have no problems with that, so Wednesday, 27th of April is now the start time.

QF60 Cycle One: Betrayal

Reodar raised his hand in a fist, the sign for the rest of the party to stop. Just in range of the Elantrians on the wall's Aons. Hopefully he wouldn’t need them. He raised one finger and curled it, calling Tosheom. He then called Draofer, the other of the three leaders, forwards.

"What are we to do?" Draofer asked.

"I'm guessing he means to talk to them, rather than blast them to pieces."

"Your guess is correct, if we must create an agreement, communication must happen. We do not want to destroy them. We wish to return our lands, not have dominion over theirs."

The Dakhor approached, two of them in front with five behind. Tradition said three, why send five? Reodar thought. As they got closer, it became clear that the closest riders were no Monks. He shouted, "It is not the place for normal people here, Monks!" Tosheom's horse backed up a step at his command. Quieter, Reodar said, "Stand strong Tosheom, we must not appear weak."

The moment after Reodar spoke, the Monk stepped forward and calmly killed both of the civilians. Tosheom, expecting an attack, raised his hand and drew the Aon Dio, creating a wall around him. Reodar and Draofer however, were caught off guard and were thrown off their horses by the fiery explosion the Monk sent forward. Tosheom fought as he retreated to the safety of his fellow Elantrians. With their help, he drove them back.

In the aftermath of the fight, amongst burned corpses and charred remains, was a body that hadn't died from Dakhor fire. It -no, she- had a knife in her back. Tosheom looked up at the eight Elantrians before him. "One, perhaps more than one even, of you is a traitor. Whoever you are, understand that there will be vengeance."

Reodar and Draofer have died, they were Elantrians of no specific role and not player characters.

Two civilians have died, they were innocent bystanders and not player characters.

Hey Xino, would be willing to move to Experience with me?

I know PMs are open, but I don't imagine we'll use them much in a game this small. We'll likely struggle to fill the thread enough as is.

General FYIs: Ties result in no one dying, the Dakhor might (probably) have roles this game, and there's a lot of roles that can give the elims a headache. Hopefully there's less of those and only two elims, but please please use your roleblock, heal, alignment scan etc every round anyway. The downside of role claiming is the Dakhor can absorb their victim's role. The upside is with inactivity clears and a distro with a high number of provable roles/ones that mess with the elims, it's really easy to weed down who used their action to submit the NK. But be warned, I put a lot of effort into telling TUN not to make the game mechanically solvable like that, so it's probbbbable that they were trolly or basic enough to prevent easy outs.

A 9 player QF seems nice right now. I like it.

This game my goal is to not auto-village read JNV so this seems like an alright start

Tani

I'm obviously elim

I mean, it's right in my name, MehE!im

There is absolutely no way that I'm wrong about this. No Way.

Oh I can’t count, nice :P.

So with eight players, I think the team basically has to have two. 3/8 is far too high of a ratio (they would reach parity after 1 misexe. The elim wincon is unclear— @The Unknown Novel, it says ‘overwhelm’ in the rules, does that mean parity or outnumber?) Either way I think that’s too many. And 1/8 doesn’t make sense either, maybe it could be if the one elim is the kill role, which would be fun.

Most of the roles probably exist, I think. Maybe not the scanner or kill role in such a small game. I don’t really like to speculate specific team role comps for either alignment, but I think any role works for any alignment to some extent.

Edit: Also @TUN what’s the # for Elantrian falling? Do we get to know?
