Can't do a full scoring right now as I'm not at home, but a quick look would suggest this is within normal limits.
Will need to clarify what you mean by the 'stun' power though, like knock people unconscious? Just kind of daze them? Is it physical or mental? And what kind of duration would it last for?

I think the best way to describe the power is kinda like how an electric eel works. he touches them and they go limp, conscious but unable to struggle. The effects of it would vary depending on how powerful the victim is in his or hers magic system. If used against someone who has no powers of any form, the effects would last a day at the most.

So, here's a new character:

Hazel Blackmore (Vita):

Spoiler

Name: Hazel Blackmore

Epic Name: Vita

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Appearance: 5'1", somewhat scrawny. Her eyes lack pupils and irises and she generally keeps them closed. Wears a dark grey hoodie, jeans and a small backpack that looks remarkably heavy for it's size. Normally has longer dark-blonde hair. Always wears either earbuds or headphones. Wears a set of leather gloves.

Abilities (Epic):

  • Lifesense:
She can sense living beings around her, with the range depending of the strength/size of the being. Aside from their location she can also sense how they look and how they're standing, though this becomes more difficult at larger ranges. She can also sense how invested beings are, at least to some extent, but this behaves more like Breath-based lifesense, without the ability to actually tell the type of Investure.
Sapient beings are the easiest to sense, and she can sense those at a bit under a mile away, though her view is vague at that distance, only giving a rough indication of location and general number of beings there. Non-sapient beings are harder to sense, and the range is lower for them, though the range is also based on their size, and there's an exception for extremely large or invested beings. For example, a two mile tall giant or something like the Phoenix would be sensed from a greater distance than humans would be sensed.
She can also focus this ability, concentrating it on a specific area. Some of this happens automatically, filtering out unnecessary information, instead focusing on her immediate surroundings, but she can also deliberately do this, which allows her to see much more sharply in that area. Doing this makes it impossible to sense anything outside the area focused on though.
She can also use this ability to sense microbial life, allowing her to get a rough idea of where larger objects closer around her are (general range tends to be around 20 meters, depending on size and concentrations of microbes). Specifically focusing on an area allows her to find smaller objects as well, but the range for this is much smaller, generally only around a meter at maximum.
Actually touching a living being greatly increases her resolution, allowing her to observe the biological processes going on in whoever she's touching, the locations of their bones and organs, if they have any illnesses or injuries, etc. The level of detail is high enough that her mind subconsciously sees it as her own body though, making it difficult to hurt whoever she's touching directly.
Beings whose biology significantly differs from that of normal humans appear differently on her life-sense, allowing her to differentiate different species.
  • Biokinesis:
She can alter the bodies of anybody she touches. These changes can be minute, simply adjusting small parts of their biology, to things like healing large injuries. It does have some limits though. For one thing, she actually needs to touch whoever she's working on since otherwise she can't see what she's doing. Further more, actually using the ability to create additional biomass is time-consuming and difficult, so if she wants to add mass she generally needs to find a different source, meaning that something like regenerating a limb would require her to have the target eat much more than normal, and then spreading out the healing over multiple sessions to allow the target to regain their mass.
On the other hand, it is possible for her to convert one type of organic material into another, as long as they're part of the same organism. Removing mass is also much easier, since she can just cut it off or disperse it in some other way.
Doing modifications takes time though, depending on what she's trying to do. Interestingly smaller, more localized changes actually more difficult, since it requires her to first locate and analyze whatever it is she's changing. Even then, even something like closing a large cut can take a few seconds. Using her powers destructively goes much quicker, since she doesn't need to care about actually doing things properly, but this has its own issues. This is because using her biokinesis requires her to use her lifesense, but the way she senses the other body is complete enough that to her mind it's part of her own body. This means that damaging someone else's body is extremely difficult, since mentally it's the same as trying to injure herself. Similarly, this also makes it impossible for her to kill people this way.
Using this ability on herself is possible as well, but requires focusing inwards with her Lifesense, meaning she becomes effectively blind.

Biological enhancements: (this area can be cut if it will put her over the points limit)

  • Reduced need for sleep. Her body doesn't require any sleep. Her mind does still require it though, meaning that she still needs to sleep every few days. If she goes without sleep for longer than that the mental effects of sleep deprivation will start setting in.
  • Improved stamina. She can run and exercise for much longer than normal people, reaching the same point as trained athletes.
  • Immunity for most diseases and toxins. Non-organic toxins like mercury will still work though.
  • Reduced pain-sensitivity. While she still feels pain she can handle much larger amounts than normal people can while still being able to focus, sitting at a similar level as trained military personnel.
  • Improved physical abilities. Her speed and reaction-times are at a similar level to that of a trained martial artist. They're still at human levels though, just at the higher end of what humans are capable of.

Skills: Melee weapons, Average (35), Scholarship, biology, Average (20), Parkour, Skilled (not sure what point count this is?)

Equipment: Has a set of balisong (butterfly knives) hidden up her sleeves, as well as a number of throwing knives in different pockets. Her backpack also contains a number of them, together with taser, a blackjack and an extendable stunbaton. Also has a number of syringes with sedating agents in her backpack. Has a pair of reading glasses with a build-in camera and text-to-speech program, allowing her to read things, as well as a voice-operated phone. Wears earbuds or headphones that are always playing music. Also carries a number of emergency batteries for her phone, glasses and earbuds.

Epic Weakness: Sensory deprivation triggers her weakness. This can also be partially triggered by taking away only one of her senses, weakening her abilities, with her senses of hearing and touch being the most important. This is also why she's always wearing something that plays music, and not hearing anything tends to make her rather nervous and stressed out, compounded by the fact that her Lifesense also weakens. Losing her sense of touch can actually send her into a panic attack, especially if she also loses her sense of hearing, and the combination is generally enough to completely negate her powers, unless there's another external sensation she can hold onto like strong smells.

Weaknesses:

  • She completely blind, and relies on her Lifesense to perceive the world. While this normally allows her to live a somewhat normal life it does still cause significant disabilities since anything that uses light to transmit information (electronic devices, written text) still isn't usable, while in fights she needs to deduce what an opponent is doing by observing their stance or through what's happening to airborne microbes around her, which isn't always extremely accurate, especially if she needs to focus on larger areas.
  • The fact that her mind subconsciously treats the body of whoever she's touching as her own body means that it's extremely difficult for her to hurt them, especially using her powers, since her mind sees it as self-harm, or, in case of killing someone, as committing suicide. This also means that even if she does manage to overcome the mental blocks in question doing it would do a large amount of damage to her mind, with any serious damage being enough to make her seriously ill, including inducing vomiting, while killing people she's directly touching generally making her go catatonic.
Similarly, having someone she's touching get killed through different sources can be rather distressing to her, though not enough to do anything more than upset her.
This is made even worse by the fact the only time she did this she was still a kid, and under a great deal of stress, which caused her to be even more hesitant of doing this, and the thought of doing it is enough to make her nauseous.
  • Having injured people nearby distresses her, since triggers her power's sympathetic part to some degree, giving her an instinctive need to heal people. While she can resist this, especially when her mind is occupied with something else, it does distress her when she's calm.

Personality: Tries to keep other people at a distance, and is afraid of getting familiar with people. Has trouble with interacting with other people. Quickly gets attached to people who do manage to get close to her though. Has a tendency to lash out at people when she's stressed, sometimes even attacking them. Has instinctive need to heal people, which she rather dislikes since the sensation tends to be distressing, meaning that she prefers to stay away from places with injured people. Hates being in disinfected areas, since it limits her sight. Has abandonment issues. Normally always has at least some form of music playing, or making noise in some way or another. Hates being in an environment without sound. Has a habit of doing tricks with her butterfly knives as a nervous tick.

Family: Doesn't know the state her parents back on earth. Sees Ayltiha as an adoptive parent.

Backstory: Originally born on Reckoners Earth with a birth defect that left her blind, which left somewhat of a strain on her relationship with her parents. She was still a kid when Calamity rose, and she ended up being accidentally abandoned during the initial panic. After a few hours passed her parents didn't return for her though, so she concluded they had abandoned her and wouldn't come back for her, so she slowly started wandering around. At the same time her Lifesense also started activating, which increased her fear and confusion. Eventually she accidentally wandered into the Alleys, accidentally coming across an abomination. Her panic somehow allowed her powers to kill it, but the effect on her mind made her go catatonic.
Eventually Aylitha came across her, finding her in a nearly dead state, and deciding to take her in. In the end she ended up raising her for the next 12 years, with Hazel coming to see her as a new parent. During this time she lived with the Bioscience department, but she didn't study a huge amount of biology, and tended to stay away from the labs because of their sterile environments. When she turned 16 she decided to move to Acquisitions, though she's still trying to figure out if she'll stay there.

Guild: Da, Acquisitions (formerly Bioscience)

Theme Song: Delain, See Me in Shadows. Combat songs: A-One, Adequate. Within Temptation, Where is the Edge.

@Voidus, because Epics.

@Voidus, because Epics.

Lifesense: 30
Biokinesis: 100 (Making some assumptions here about upper limits of power, but the main concern would be using it to instant-kill people which is off the table anyway)
Physical enhancements are covered under the points for biokinesis, which is how I assume she acquired these enhancements.

Skills: Melee weapons, Average (35), Scholarship, biology, Average (20), Parkour, Skilled (25)

Weaknesses: Blind (-20) (Usually would be higher but this is with the compensation from lifesense), treats others as self while touching (-25), distressed by injury (-10)

Total: 130 (M), 80 (S), -55 (W) = 155

Slightly over but I think this combined with how you've portrayed their psychological reactions to their Epic weakness, along with it being fairly easy to trigger, actually warrants a bit more of a reduction. Happy to approve this one.

Excuse-me if it is not the right place to ask this.

I'm currently trying to create my first character in the Alleyverse and I need some precisions about how much point some objects would cost: my character would have a scholarship level of "skilled" but would also be copper ferring with unkeyed metalminds that make his scholarship level to "expert" and a medallion granting copper ferruchemy so he can share his copperminds with others. So how much would having these item coast? Are some of them strait out forbidden?

Also would F-cooper and A-tin be consider a Complimentary Twinborn Combination?

Hello mathiau!

Great that you thinking about joining the Alleyverse and welcome! This is exactly the right place to ask.

F-Copper would be 30 // A-Tin is 35 //I wouldn't consider F-Copper/ A-Tin a complimentary combination

Scholarship skilled is 30 (depending a little on the scholarship itself) // I would count the unkeyed metalminds at 10 points for this character, since they only up one skill to expert. If he were to hand them over to another character, they would be at 40 as they would have to pay for the whole scholarship expert

Ok, so even assuming the F-Copper medallion cost as much as F-Copper my character is at 165 points before factoring the weaknesses so it should be under 150 in the end, just to finish his backstory and find a name. (Any advice on naming a Terris?)

Alright here is my character

Spoiler

Name: Asmos Deus

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Alignment: Chaotic neutral. Though it can sway to chaotic good or evil respectively.

Appearance: Physical appearance is not known as Asmos hasn't removed his helmet in any social situation. Aluminum armor covers the vitals as well as arms and legs. Though his helmet is made of a completely different material (Graphene). See photo below for an accurate depiction.

Additionally he carries around his chest and shoulder vials of blood, which contain spikes, essentially a kill counter for Asmos.

Skills:

Intelligence: Intelligent, mainly on combat and Investiture (30)

Hand to hand combat: Average (20)

Melee weapon combat training: Amateur (20)

Projectile weapon combat training: Skilled (60)

Poison mixing: Skilled (25)

Total: 155

Weapons:

Poisoned(paralysis) needles

Silenced rifle with a scope

Two revolvers

Weaknesses: Due to the heaviness of the armor worn, battles of endurance, and running are difficult, this is why Asmos and the Clan (see family) prefer ranged weapons instead of melee and hand to hand combat. Although Asmos isn’t ignorant of the aforementioned skills they aren't as refined and his shooting and therefore wields knives in tight situations.

Another weakness of sorts is the fact that he short on money for him and his clan and will take up any job offered.

Additionally it should be noted that Asmos has no Investiture what so ever.

Family: The Clan. An unknown group of mercenaries, who allow only one member out of their sanctuary at a time. The clan hold a particular significance to aluminum armor, which they see as a sacred protector to the one that bears such armor. To take off one’s mask is is seen as taboo and are hunted down as to not divulge secrets. Aware of the power of allomancy, the Clan wear helmets made of Graphene.

Guild: Unaffiliated

Character is approved. The 5 points are not an issue, since you didn't substract anything for his weaknesses. I added him to the general character list.

====================

Hello =)

I added my ranking of your skills in green.

On 11.12.2019 at 2:25 AM, Vasher212 said:

Investiture: Stone ward of the second Ideal (110 - 5 (1st oath) = 105 // more points can be substracted if you tell me the second oath of this character), Rithmatist (30)

Weakness: Will not harm anyone more than bruising without their express permission. (-20)

Skills: Highly skilled at fighting with shields and shields only. (Expert Melee weapons 75 - 10 (only shields) = 65  // I assumed that he is also able to use his shields in an offensive way, e.g. to stun someone)

Weapons: Two shields make out of a mysterious, nigh indestructible material. (10)

Total:

105+30 = 135 Magical Skills
65 = Skills

10 = Weapons/ Equipment
-20 = Weaknesses

--> 135 + 65 + 10 -20 = 190

The character is a little too strong. Could you please take a look at them again and reduce their skills or maybe add another weakness or two? If you need some ideas I am always happy to help.

I only have one last question regarding the lines of forbiddance he attaches to his shields. How do you picture that?

Spoiler

Name:  Folorian

Physical Characteristics:  Folorian is a Terris of average build and size. He is 24 years old; his skin has a colour similar close of the Alethi one, he’s bald and his eyes are brown.

He wears a traditional Terris tinningdar with V of gold, copper and silver colour. His use the sleeves to hide the important quantities of cooperminds he bears. He also has a silver plated pathian earng on the right hear and a gold-plated imitation on the left one.

Investiture:  Copper feruchemy. He also visited the Nightwatcher and she gave him the ability to easily spot opened alley out of Alleycity, even when he did not know what they were (see more weaknesses)

Skills: He’s quite intelligent, but not a genius and although he relies a lot on his metalmind, he would still be a skilled. He is also skilled enough at drawing to be able to copy images stored in cooperminds without major distortions.

Equipment: He possess an important quantity of unkeyed cooperminds, most of them contain information written by expert scholars about an important number of societies in the cosmere. He also has as well some nearly empty cooperminds for his personal usage, both keyed and unkeyed. In addition to that he has a silver plated pathian earing that would once have given more endurance.

Weakness: He tends to overestimate his own knowledge and experiences about the Cosmere and has little experience at social interactions. He also constantly wears an important number of more or less invested metalminds, a coinshot would be able to exploit it. Lastly he always wears his pathian earing, an entity from the cognitive realm might be able to use that

His old magic curse is tunnel vision, when he starts focusing too much one detail the see or hear or when he starts focusing on an accomplishing an objective he deems important, he enter some sort of trance where he becomes oblivious to everything else. As his senses are not turned off be merely ignored, it is often possible to make him snap out of his trance. Despite his senses still being on, if he tried to store a memory while in tunnel vision that memory would suffer the same tunnel vision as he did.

When his old magic boon makes him spot an opened alley out of Alleycity, his curse will systematically trigger in the strongest way possible and it will be almost impossible to stop him from going into that Alley without inflicting a serious injury or at least knocking him off.

Family: He is a single child, his parents are Terris from a particularly rheumatically aware splinter group of the worldbringer, but not aware enough to have heard about the alleyverse.

Home Planet:  Scadrial

Backstor: Folorian was born in a small community of Terris Worldbringers in the south of Northern Scadrial. After discovering his ferruchemical power when he was eight, adults of the community then started training him intensely because he was the first cooper ferring to be born in two generation and therefore the only one able to use their library without southern medallion. He then passed the next five years doing almost nothing but Archivist training until the elders were sure he’d not destroy the stored information’s when he’d read them, they started. Then for the ten next he copied cooperminds in order to learn as much as possible about other civilisations, their investitures and developed a fascination for shadesmar.

Around the end of these ten years the knowledge on the cooperminds he read seemed to loop and he had more and more trouble finding new knowledge. He asked the elder for the authorisation to go on a journey to find new knowledge, they agreed and assigned him a Connector around his age as a translator. Together they went to Roshar in order to learn more about Knights Radiants, a subject about which their library was particularly lacking. But as it was before the Everstrom and the rediscovery of Urithiru, most Radiants were still hiding and they wandered for a long time across Roshar without ever spoting one. One day Folorian realised they were close to the Nightwatcher and, pretexting he wanted to study old magic, he asked to see wonders he had never heard. He then passed the next month learning how his curse worked, until an alley opened next to him and, his tunnel vision triggering in the strongest way ever, he left his guide and entered the alley. When his tunnel vision finally subsided, he was in Alleycity, close to the building of the scholar guild.

Guild: He is part of the Scholar guild

Psyche and Personality:  He easily gets excited buy new knowledge and experiences but has no patience for people who try to explain him things he feels like he already knows, he also loves sharing his knowledge. While he is hesitant with initiating a personal relationship with others he easily accepts when someone else initiate one with him. He tends to overestimate his knowledge and almost never changes his ideas about something until he is proved wrong, even if everyone he knows as an opposite opinion.

He intensely hates Hemalurgy and to a lesser extent Dakkor.

Fighting Style: He’d be mostly useless in a fight and would flee or hide if possible.

I guess I should tag @Rushu42  since my character is supposed to enter in her guild.

Hello ^_^

Welcome to the Alleyverse. While Rushu leads the Scholar's guild, she's no mod and therefore can't approve your character.

I've got a short question regarding the quoted part above. With Alley do you meanone of the Dark Alley's alleys? Alleycity can be entered and left through streets and/or gates, there is no need to use an Alley. Or the other way round, do you know what an Alley in our context is? I'm asking because any character stepping into an Alley belonging to the DA has a high chance to never return, so I want to make sure that you know about the consequences of this weakness. Honestly, depending on what you mean, I would recommend to change it. If you have any questions regarding the context, feel freeto ask them.

Actually, I just tagged Rushu because I think she would like to see the the character sheet of a new member in her guild.

As for the alley part I did not understand what was an alley, I just wanted that my character found the Alleyverse without knowing a thing about what it was. I will rewrite a less dangerous reason

Good morning, afternoon, evening, or night, my fellow denizens!

It is I, 18th Shard (character: Xanas). You may not recognize the name (I have been a bit inactive due to a 2-year mission), but I was an early member of the DA - I created the symbol that is my user profile picture and the Disclaimer. I joined on page 6 of the original thread if anyone wants to perform a background check - though to be fair, my character didn't have much background at the time.

I decided it is by far time to resurrect Xanas. And by resurrect, I do mean resurrect. @Voidus could you check for accuracy on the Void and Voidmaking? Thanks!

Here is what I am thinking:

  Reveal hidden contents

80 Years Previous

Remember. Xan touched the copper in front of the large metal plate at the front of the lab. Memory surged through him. He remembered how to read again. He glanced up and read the plate.
“Do not look at laser with remaining eye. This side up. Shake well. Contents under pressure. This side down.”
Xan searched the coppermind for the log. This was the Eye coppermind, and it contained most of the records of events that occurred. Nothing today, he noted. He looked at the sensor beneath the plate. Nothing registered abnormally. Not today, his coppermind indicated. He made the note. Xan didn't think, not anymore. He hadn't since he had died. But when he was remembering, when he was touching one of the higher copperminds in the lab, he could almost remember ....
Memory faded. Xan's hands dropped to its side. Remember. Its eyes, glazed, scanned the room for the nearest copper. It grasped it. Memory surged through it. He remembered how to read again. He glanced up and read the plate.
Batteries not included. Not covered by most insurance policies. Side effects may include drowsiness, glowing...
Xan searched the coppermind for the log. Today's entry had been filled in. Not today, it read. He moved on down the instruction list. The Heart coppermind was next. He reluctantly relinquished his grasp on the metalmind. He walked across the room to where a blood purifying machine was running. Deoxygenated blood flowed through the machine's artificial heart. You needed the blood to keep clean and not coagulate if the spikes were to be preserved. If all the work that had gone into those spikes were lost, it would be... Xan couldn't quite conceive how he should respond, but with the spikes of Connection and Identity in his chest, and the Breath within him, he could almost imagine what he would have done before...
Memory faded. Xan's feet slowed without purpose. Remember. Its eyes, glazed, scanned the room for the nearest copper. It walked forward and grasped it.
Memory surged through it. This was a lesser coppermind, with mainly instructions on how to clean the area nearby. It carefully grabbed a glob of mistwraith muscles, placing them on the end of the spike in front of it. It turned the switch that diverted the blood into another tube, emptying this slot. It lifted the spike, careful not to allow the spike to come free of the mistwraith flesh. It rinsed the slot, translucent red water flowing around its gray hands.
Xan didn't think about feeling. It didn't think about where this spike came from or what it did. It didn't even notice the circle of Shardblades, stabbed into the stone in front of it. There were eight, each of a different order. If it had looked into the Cognitive Realm, it could have seen the eight deadeyes, standing numbly in the same spots. It could have seen the spikes, rammed into each of them, binding them to the man it once was. It could have seen the other two spren standing still, defiant, as if waiting, a spike in the eye of the inkspren and in the abdomen of the spren behind him. That one had once been bonded to a Stoneward. Xan didn't see them though. After all, it was Lifeless. It couldn't think. It just continued its task, as the coppermind had instructed. Remember. Remember. Remember.

10 Years Previous

Xan reached for the coppermind. Memory surged through him. He noted the wires that were deteriorating slightly on the lab’s systems, silently measuring lengths. He began to uncoil the loop of wire, keeping the coppermind against the skin of his knees. He braided the wire together, then dipped it in the plastic that he had kept liquid in the vat.

Behind him, he heard a clatter. He turned and saw a Blade fall to the ground. He turned to the coppermind, searching for the protocol he should follow. Check Linchpin coppermind database. He turned and started running for the Linchpin coppermind.

Halfway there, his memory faded. Xan slowed, but his pace brought him close enough to the coppermind to reach it. He tapped the memories stored there, a flood of information flowing in. Place in stone in center of room near Heartmind. If only one Blade left, engage warning fabrial on final spren.

He grabbed the Blade, noting it to be the Stoneward blade, and stabbed it into the stone pillar near the others. He flicked on the fabrial, and then sprinted back for the coppermind, barely making it in time before his memory faded.

He tapped his memory of peeking into the Spiritual Realm. He saw, again, that place within places, the time between times, connections spanning eternity, fracturing into the future, words in gold covering every surface. He almost grasped why he had done what he had, why he had killed himself, leaving behind this husk of himself. Almost. But not quite. He let go of the memory, and sat, looking at the dead spren in the stone by him. Tears fell from his eyes. He didn’t feel anything at the spren’s death, not really, but it seemed like the appropriate thing to do. He could almost imagine what it would be like to be one of those spren, to just one day break and die.

Memory faded.

Today

Xan checked the sensor. Nothing again, he noted. He started to turn, but the fabrial next to the sensor started blinking. He looked, with a hint of what once might have been curiosity. Well simulated memories seemed to make it easier to remember what it had been like when...

He'd missed it. A faint distortion on the sensor, so faint it was almost imperceptible. He turned up the sensitivity. Then did so again. And again. And again. It wasn't clearing up. What was this?

He kept increasing the sensitivity until he could see the Investiture in the trace metals floating in the air. The pattern, it was... What was that? It looked like something had been inverted from normal, an emptiness where his sensor should be reading. He flipped the colors on the screen. That's... that's my spiritweb. Inverted.

He checked the coppermind, almost frantic. Almost. It was time. This was the signal he was supposed to remember. He tapped all the memories that had been stored years earlier.

He turned to the metal plate that had been installed so many years earlier. His eyes glanced over the first line: “I set these words in metal, for nothing else will last.”

People had always wondered what the unwieldy disclaimer had been for. Surely no one could prosecute the Alleys and win a legal battle. They had never understood. These weren't warnings. They were instructions.

Push only labeled buttons. Xan pushed every labeled button.

Do not look directly at sun. Xan opened the sunroof, exposing the solar panels to the sun.

High in sugar and iron. Xan turned the knobs labeled sugar and iron to high. Liquid connection, like that once used by the Ire, began to flood into a small green basin.

Keep arms and legs inside of machinery. Xan turned off all system functions in the lab extremities, focusing all power to the vital functions.

He continued down the list....

Void where prohibited except where not prohibited. Xan turned off the Realmatic stabilizer.  He began to panic as darkness started to coalesce on the sensors. He started. This was real panic, real fear. Not memories. Real. What was happening?

Unintentionally lost connections may be collected at no extra cost. He poured the Connection from the basin onto himself. His vision snapped into all three Realms. Threads of Connection exploded out of him. Many of them snapped to the copperminds, and to the inkspren hovering on the edge of his vison.

Complimentary cookies will be provided for all non-living entities, free of charge. He picked up the atium spike - uncharged - and rammed it into his chest next to the other two.

Please keep all spren visible at all times. He held out a hand and began to summon the spren as a Blade. Darkness began to ripple around it in his vison. The spren started to shake, resisting the summons. There was something else there, something familiar, holding onto the spren, invisible even to his eyes. He felt the Blade fall into his waiting hand.

In case of emergency, ask for help from any of our non-existing help entities. He seized the threads of Connection attached to him and grasped onto the spot from which the drag on his Blade had seemed to emanate. He felt the ties grab hold of soemthing, strengthen, and began to collapse into him. He dropped the Blade, and it clattered to the floor. The darkness surged, ripping into the lab.

If all other methods of recourse fail, we extend our apologies. Xan screamed, and all went black.

Xanas gasped for air. He rolled onto his side. It had worked. It had finally worked. He dry heaved, adjusting to once again having a body. He had finally escaped the Void. The emptiness where even darkness was too light a word, where description failed because there had to be something for you to describe it. Some had thought the Spiritual Realm the source code of reality - but the Void was all the zeroes of reality's binary. It was the consuming vacuum, except consume made it sound like matter and energy were going somewhere.

Xanas seized the coppermind, seeking to draw in the records and memories he had made. Memory was so fallible compared to a coppermind. He could feel the investiture inside the metal. He pulled on it, and it... drained away. The metal drooped, loosing its shape a little. Xanas felt a seizing inside. What had happened? He reached for the table and stood. As he did, his hand brushed the fabrial on top. The gem shattered, dimming. Light extinguished. Xanas stepped back, wary. He turned to the metal plate, polished almost to a mirror's sheen. He saw himself. Grey, Lifeless. Eyes a deep black. A single dark, warped spike in his heart, unlike any metal he had seen before. And dark black lines, spreading faintly out from it. He stepped closer, still staring at his own face. Storms. He had thought he had made it back completely. I have. Mostly.

He turned to ask Tsarik what it had looked like on this side of the transition. He saw the Blade laying, still on the floor, point sticking into the ground. He peered into the Cognitive Realm, still barely visible from the perpendicularity that had formed here. He saw the dark inkspren, and the spike in his eye was now somehow darker. There was no light or even Tsarik's usual texture there, only a dark emptiness. And his other eye. Storms. Where it once had been, there was just a series of scratches, as if oil had been poured into a scratched plate and then frozen. Tsarik did not speak. Xanas began to weep. The other spren, they had been... acquired, but Tsarik, Tsarik had been all his own. He had bonded him long before he had ever seen a spike or even left Roshar. He had been the only real remnant left of who Xanas had been, once. Enough. There's no time to grieve. You need to identify what has changed, why the metalmind and fabrial you touched drained away.

...

Xanas dressed in an aluminum-lined, gray-white robe (it had once been an Elantrian's, who had embroidered Shao on the back - Xanas thought the Aon was appropriate). With aluminum-lined gloves on, Xanas carefully picked up Tsarik's corpse. He placed the dark black Shardblade into an aluminum sheath that he slung over his back. He didn't dare try bonding it. The others that  he had tried to bond had dissolved into the Void, along with every other Invested object he had touched. Spikes that had taken years to make, Awakened machines, all gone. Even the Aviar had lost all its Investiture, and then slowly died. He had figured out that aluminum allowed him to interact mostly normally with things, blocking the Investiture from getting in contact with him.

The tests he had carefully run had shown him to be Lifeless still, physically, but the darkspike in his chest somehow had stapled him back into his body. Whether his Cognitive aspect had been affected by his moment in the Void was debatable (he hadn't been the most sane before that experiment), but his Spiritweb had been entirely replaced. Where once there had been Investiture, now there was only darkness, an inversion of who he had once been. The souls that had been attached to his by spikes had been ripped off, leaving behind a mangled excuse for what had been a Spiritweb anyways, but this was worse. As far as Xanas could tell, he was now anathema to kinetic Investiture - but he needed it. He could feel, inside him, the Void, pulling on him, drawing him back. Like a twisted version of a Returned, he would need to consume Investiture to keep the Void from pulling him back, and he couldn't even compound or infuse anything anymore. He looked at the lab. There was nothing here he could use or would need anymore. He needed answers, and he’d learned all he could here. He pressed the self-destruct button and stepped out into the Alley. It was time to find some answers. He needed to find an old friend.

As far as character sheet goes:

  Reveal hidden contents

Name: Xanas

Physical Characteristics: Lifeless, black spike impaling chest, black eyes, short-ish.

Investiture: None - but he does manipulate the Void - I will leave it up to you to determine how powerfully. He acts as an always passively burning Leecher, which slowly destroys investiture on touch. Low control over his Voidmaking abilities. Cannot gain any other abilities.

Skills: Genius intellect. Experience with most Realmatic mechanics.

Equipment: Deadeye shardblade.

Weakness: Requires ~1 breath equivalent of investiture a week or he dies. Cannot use investiture or be affected by it - no healing, no transportation, no Cognitive Realm.

Family: None (living).

Home Planet: Roshar

Backstory: See above.

Guild: N/A (yet at least).

Psyche: Genius but can be unstable, particularly after spending time in the Void.

Personality: Once sarcastic, now far more somber.

Appearance: White-gray cloak lined with aluminum, Aon Shao embroidered on the back. Gloves. Black Shardblade in sheath on back. Gray skin/hair.

Theme Song: If he had to pick, probably Berlin by the Piano Guys.

Fighting Style: Tries not to fight unless he has overwhelmingly good odds.

Figured I would put this here and get approval on the above post/character reintro.

Let me know what Voidmaking strength would be balanced.

He looks fine now! Character is approved.

I only have one last question regarding the lines of forbiddance he attaches to his shields. How do you picture that?

Not exactly sure what you are asking here, but I was thinking that there is a piece of chalk in a small slot at the bottom of each shield, meaning that he can quickly protect himself or allies by sweeping his shield in a straight line.

Ahh, that makes more sense. So he can draw with his shields. Thank you. I read that part in your character sheet and was completely confused.

Let me know what Voidmaking strength would be balanced.

Nothing to add to the descriptions here, this is pretty dead on.

As for the Voidmaking strength, passive Investiture drain should be fine particularly based on touch. Similar draining at a range is also possible though more challenging. Dematerializing matter on a small scale is possible but generally only a last resort due to the costs.
Voidmaking consumes willpower to continue to use so extended usage will eventually leave the user completely mentally exhausted and basically unwilling to do anything. Recovery time from complete overuse varies from individual to individual.

Points total:
Voidmaking: 100, above average with the permanent draining.
Genius: 45
Scholarship: 40

Weakness: Unable to be healed, transported, etc. (20), Breath requirement (10), mental instability (10)

Total: 100 (M) +  85(S) - 40(W) = 145

Within limits and approved. And also welcome back :D

All right, I'm jumping into the Alleyverse. I hope this is the right thread.

Spoiler

Name: Erica

Physical Characteristics: 18 years old, average height. Northern Scadrian ethnicity. Red-brown shoulder-length hair, usually in braids with brown eyes.

Investiture: Average-level soother. As the daughter of a merchant, she usually uses her power to help her mother make a sale.

Skills: Average-level skill at bargaining, haggling and bluffing. Amateur-level skill at wielding a knife. Can usually talk her way out of conflict, and good at seeing through lies.

Equipment: An old knife gifted to her by her mother when she was ten. A vial of brass.

Family: Older half-sister named Aria and a mother.

Weakness: Strong attachment to Aria. Erica is very devoted to her sister and would risk her life for Aria, and would sacrifice others to save her. She is impulsive and acts on intuition without thinking about the consequences. Not very trusting and doesn't like to rely on others. Usually runs from her problems instead of facing them.

Home Planet: Scadrial

Backstory: Her mother was a worldhopping merchant who traded in Invested objects such as unkeyed copperminds and awakened objects. She had Erica's half-sister Aria while trading on Sel, and then four years later had Erica on Scadrial. Due to the nature of their mother's work, they never stayed in one place for a long amount of time, instead worldhopping to different shardworlds frequently. This meant that Erica and Aria had no place to truly call home, but they were exposed to many cultures and ways of life growing up. Erica only had her sister for company for most of her life.

One day, their mother acquired some hemalurgic spikes. Intending on trading them in Nalthis, she and her daughters joined a merchant caravan to make the journey. However, on the way, the caravan became lost, and then it was attacked. During the attack, Erica was knocked unconscious, and when she woke up, she found herself alone in the Alleyverse. She is currently looking for her mother and sister, and trying to figure out why she's in the Alleyverse.

Guild: Not affiliated with any guild.

Personality: Outgoing and adventurous, likes talking to people, however, she holds back part of herself when interacting with people. She is generally cautious when in new locations or situations. Although she likes the company of other people, she isn't very trusting. She considers herself before others. Usually, she puts up an optimistic front.

Fighting Style: Doesn't like to fight, but will defend herself if necessary.

Would someone be able to help with assigning points? I didn't know how to go about it, so I left them out.

At some point I'd like to play as Aria as well, but I thought it would be better to start out with only one character to make things simpler.

Hi! You’re in the right thread. And great character :)

Skill at haggling, bargaining, bluffing and seeing through lies. Can talk her way out of a conflict. The closest I could match to it is being Intelligent, which is 30 points.

Soother = 35 points

Amateur with a knife = 10 points

Weaknesses I would say add up to 15 points.

All in all, a score of 60, which is well within the limits.

If you want to see the index from which we find point scores from, you can find it here.

Character approved :)

IT IS FINISHED

also i am sorry about the length

Spoiler

Name: Talas Rajost, formerly Silas Jostson and Talostr-Akuv.

Physical Characteristics

  • Heavily muscled, with incredibly broad shoulders, to the point his size is far more of an encumbrance than an assistance outside of combat.

Investiture

  • Stormform from a gemheart and stormspren, but due to the deep connection he has with the form on an emotional and mental level, he will never change his form.

  • Gemheart, but as he will not change his form, it may as well not exist.

  • Dakhor bone growths on his right arm, grown nearly past his elbow. These enhance his strength, physical speed, and moderate resistance to physical wounds.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Hand-to-hand combat skill, decently skilled, but his main advantage comes from his strength.

  • Prodigious musical skill with the harmonica, saxophone, piano, and the guitar.

  • Perfect pitch and an excellent singing voice.

  • An excellent chef, and also an excellent gourmand (he needs to eat a ton for all of that stormform strength boost).

  • Always smells faintly of citrus and ginger.

  • When he is playing any instrument, he is often guided along by the Rhythms that (right now) he can only subconsciously hear.

  • Synthetic Thrill: when in combat, the SynThrill will physically enhance Talas the same as the normal Rosharan Thrill.

Equipment:

  • Olorun (pseudo-Shardblade, Awakened, on the same level as a normal Rosharan  Shardblade, the only difference is that it has an animalistic intelligence.) Talas will never summon him, and so he communicates (really just growls and says the odd word) directly into Talas’ mind.

  • Two Awakened bracelets, one on each wrist. These prevent Talas from using the lightning of stormform, protecting those around him.

  • Clothes. Expensive taste, change from day to day. Duh.

Weaknesses:

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • PTSD

  • Pain threshold: while his tolerance for bodily harm is higher than that of others, the moment it is crossed, some unpleasant things start to happen. Often resulting in loss of life for some and loss of memory and control for Talas.

  • Synthetic Thrill: whenever Talas is in combat, the SynThrill will reduce his awareness of his actions, driving him for more and more blood.

  • Mentally unstable, and often split between the decisions Silas or Talost would make.

Family

Silas’ Family: Tena (adoptive mother), Anthony Nightshade (father-in-law, also married to Tena (fun family tree)), Pyx Roon (biological mother, deceased), Horonen Jostson (biological father, deceased), Asa and Nectar Jostson (twin daughters), and Ambrosia Jostson (wife). Extended family: Jofus Roon (mother’s brother’s son, deceased), Shor Roon (Jofus’ brother), Algernon Jostson (paternal grandfather, deceased), and all of Tena’s relatives and children.

Talost’s Family (None on this list are biologically related to Talas, but as Talost saw them as his family and still refers to them as such, they are here): Allakn-Isal (father), Ileya-Isal (mother), Yxares (effectively his uncle, regardless of the fact that he is just a giant bird) Lurakv-Ikax (brother (from this point on everyone is one of his siblings, and will thus be denoted with simply “B” or “S”), Teyra-Isal (S), Farakr-Uvit (B), Areyo-Isal (S), Yitrosk-Ipok (B), Uteir-Isal (S), Maclu-Nkey (B), Ayiti-Isal (S), Tyrepn-Pyot (B), and Eikayi-Isal (S). The other nine are all dead, and thus irrelevant.

Home Planet: Talas was born on Scadrial 29 years ago.

Backstory: (check the link in my About Me for the first bit of his life, pre-Era 3) Talas was created when, in a moment of severe pain, Talostr-Akuv crawled forward, begging to be healed. He was, but not in the way he expected. Silas and Talost were mentally fused, creating a brand new person. As Talas watched the ensuing fight between both of his families, he realized that if he stayed and tried to live a normal life with his family, death would be brought upon them all. He could not control himself, and there was only one person he trusted to teach him how to do so. Allakn-Isal, his father. The man who had attempted to kill each member of his family. Well, his other family. Talas had to trust the man who had tried to kill his family to help him learn to protect his family. And so he did. For the next half-year, Talas trained with his father to control his abilities, undergoing strenuous training to master his new strength, and after many months, Talas returned to the Alleycity a completed man.

Guild: As of now, Talas is unaffiliated, although some Ghostbloods may argue that he still belongs to them.

Psyche: ENTJ/ENTP. When Talas speaks, everyone listens. Talas is very charismatic and very commanding, knowing what he wants, and not being afraid to assert his command to obtain it, yet he is still a good person.

Personality: Talas is a somber man, but even if he is happy, he will remain visibly calm, keeping near all signs of emotion undetectable. He cares about one thing more than anything else, one thing he will not be afraid to be emotional about: his family, and more importantly, protecting them.

Appearance: Talas’ hair is black and somewhat long, often pulled into a tail or a bun, yet often left loose. His jaw is sharp yet still strong, and his cheekbones are high, but not to the point of making his cheeks look gaunt. He is about 7 and a half feet tall (~228 cm), and his shoulders are broader than many doorways. His eyes are a vibrant green, bright enough that he would be considered a lighteyes, though his eyes are neither truly light- nor darkeyed. His skin is also covered with thick black Singer-like strata, running North-east to South-west. On multiple places on his body, such as his cheekbones, calves, chest, knees, knuckles, and in Batman-like ridges along his arms, there are sharp ridges of chitin, as well as numerous plates beneath his skin. Due to the nature of his transformation, his beard grows at a far quicker rate than before, and thus, though he wishes to be clean-shaven at all times, he often will have a dark 5 O’clock Shadow.

Theme Song: “Notorious” by Duran Duran

Fighting Style: Talas refuses to use any weapon besides those that are a part of him. No knives, guns, tools, Shards, anything. This also means he uses no stormform lightning. The only time he ever uses any kind of weapon is in training with his father or siblings. However, due to the natural weapons growing out of his skin, his style of fighting utilizes these blades quite devastatingly.

Is there an IC reason, that he refuses to use any weapons besides those that are a part of him?
