Mestiv he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Hey everyone! Guess what? It's Tuesday again, so like usual, I'm gonna spoil all the fun of racing each other in creation of OB chapters topic and do it earlier than everyone else The chapters will be available here: https://www.tor.com/2017/10/24/oathbringer-by-brandon-sanderson-chapters-25-27/ As always, the chapters will be available at 9 AM EDT, and that's when this thread will unlock itself. Enjoy! 1
dendrophobe he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Ooh, Dalinar? That sounds like it could be him from the first epigraph...
Calderis he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I will confess my murders before you... Well ain't that an interesting start today. 1

+Extesian he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Quote Most painfully, I have killed someone who loved me dearly. If that's you D, imma cry. 4
Agent34 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Shame we don't get a description of decayspren.
flying_shadow she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Well, these epigraphs shined some light-but now, more questions appear.

Try with another device than the one you are using. my computer refused to show the chapters for some reason, but my phone works.
king of nowhere Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I just have to stop here and say that BRANDON IS DEFINITELY TROLLING WITH US ON THOSE EPIGRAPHS. Seriously, "I killed someone who loved me dearly". That could mean shallan, of course. It could mean Dalinar, we still don't know what happened with his wife. It could mean kaladin, he feels responsible for the death of tien; also killing his spren could count, even if she got better. It could mean jasnah: if she hadn't called her father and distracted him during the fight, he may have prevailed against szeth. and it could of course mean taravangian. really, how many main characters who killed someone who loved them dearly can one write into a book? It's like brandon actually wants us to keep guessing by giving us equivocal information. And it doesn't make it any better that it is actually the case. So that's it. Enough is enough. I'm gonna stop playing the epigraphs game. I don't care who wrote them until we'lll be told for certain. 8
dendrophobe he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 First on-screen appearance of an Unmade? 3
flying_shadow she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Damnation, another cliffhanger? Is Sanderson trolling us? Is the thing Shallan saw the Unmade who's behind the copycat murders? it appears to be copying not just murders though, but also stabbings and whatnot.
She Who Cannot Be Named she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Just now, dendrophobe said: First on-screen appearance of an Unmade? Seems like it. Oh wow. There you go Adolin. At least this gets rid of a very akward conversation between Kal and Shallan. They still need to talk about it but weeeeell...
Steeldancer he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 It might be Jasnah still. Or dalinar. Wow. That flashback was... intense. Very intense. Shallan knows now. Her budding love for kaladin? Probably crushed right there. Also the murders are being done by a voidspren, and we FINALLY see Bridge 4. Poor rock, getting his hand stabbed. The appearance of the Ryshadium fascinated me. Why music spren? 1
dendrophobe he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Any violence, I'd say. It must be an Unmade. I can't imagine what else it could be. 1
Steeldancer he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 (edited) Also it looks like dustbringers would love being in charge of CERN. And amaram is officially highprince. Fantastic. Edited October 24, 2017 by Steeldancer 7

She Who Cannot Be Named she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 And again we got just teensy weensy small bits about Dustringers. They like to make things explode, and the bonded Spren is called Sparks? @Steeldancer: Honorspren vs. Odiumspren: Matter vs. Antimatter: BOOOM
Steeldancer he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 (edited) "At cern, we smash particles together to figure out what theure made of." Fail to see how that's of Honor, but hey. Let them be them. Given that the dustbringers spren name is spark, I'm going more solidly with the "advanced form of fire spren" idea. Edited October 24, 2017 by Steeldancer 1
She Who Cannot Be Named she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 *shrug* There's still Cultivation. Science has Patterns, so Pattern is probably interested in that too (at least when there are no juicy lies around).
flying_shadow she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Quote sensing a strange rhythm to the fighting Rhythm? Hmm... 1
Bernem he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Maybe the epigraphs are written by a KR after the recreance? Maybe even the one who started it. They murdered their Spren, who loved them. “A hundred shades of wrongness.” It sounds like a bad romance novel set on Nalthis. 13
Knabepicer Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 (edited) That’d certainly be a treat, have it turn out that the author was actually someone we’ve never known. Edited October 24, 2017 by Knabepicer
Steeldancer he/him Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I think that lightweavers used to do massive shows... like what Shallan does, but in a massive scale.
flying_shadow she/her Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I'm concerned about the cities going dark. What is going on there? I think that something weird is going on with that. 1
Amended Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Well, Kaladin, you got some explaining to do. Shallan may have broken a tad bit there. 2
