Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, kind of. I mean, it's not like it's a secret. So we could theoretically build an Electromagnet, since I have a magnet, but it's really not worth the action. The focusing crystal's only useful if we can also scrounge up another Laser Scanner and Targeting Array, which is unlikely. Ah well, we'll see.- 529 replies

Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There's currently two votes on Deathclutch, mine and Araris'. A third would be appreciated, just to make sure. I haven't currently used my power, but I may use it on Twei unless everyone suddenly changes their mind. (Or she gets on and votes.) Mark, do you have any items of note?- 529 replies

Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, plans have changed given that the place I was going to be was way too loud. At least 112 dB, for reference. So I'll be here until turnover, though sporadic because I'm playing games with family. If anyone else would like to say anything, that'd be great. I've currently sent in an order to give my duct tape to Twei and Araris. I know that Twei's a Bodyguard, but I still think them using duct tape on each other is best, because then everyone is accountable for placing an order except me, and if everything goes off without a hitch we can lynch me tomorrow. Twei, if you see this please vote, preferably on Deatclutch to solidify the lynch. If you have an alternate suspicion, that's fine too (though a tie would not be a good thing at this point). Everyone else, I'd still like to know if there are any items or parts of note. This is a double post because it's been 9 hours, and we really need discussion. EDIt: Ninja'd by Araris because my internet is being odd and didn't register his post.- 529 replies

Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That's true. I forgot about the Compulsive Liar part. But we do still need you to scan, to verify you've sent in an action. Important question. Did Twei know she was scanned as a Bodyguard? Because I was assuming only you and I knew, and thus Twei is probably telling the truth because there's no way she could know we scanned her as a Bodyguard. If I'm wrong about that, the game just gets that much more complicated. My activity today will probably be sporadic for three more hours, but then I won't be on until well after turnover in all likelihood. Things for everyone to discuss/say/do: everyone, please vote what if any scraps or items you have, so that we can put something else together if possible tell me if my duct tape plan is feasible I'd like to somewhat solidify the lynch before I go, so that I give my duct tape to the correct person. I may use my power to do that, if I deem it necessary. But I will tell everyone if I do so.EDIT: Ninja'd because apparently I didn't refresh properly. Also, I forgot about timezones. I may actually be on before turnover, though probably not until half an hour before. That's good, at least.- 529 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Elbereth replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
And if polking is innocent, Water is certainly innocent, without any doubt. If he's an eliminator, Water is likely as well (or polking would be more eager to lynch himself, I think). I'd rather have a "certain" or a "very probable" than a "very probable" and a "probable". And of course Water has been acting more suspicious. He's actually talked.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Elbereth replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That is indeed my point. I have no desire to kill someone on five hours of catnaps, and regret it later. I take back my words from earlier. I would now be fine with lynching Polking, to prove Water (though I’m inclined to think he’s telling the truth). Alternatively, we could wait three cycles, and he might die anyway, unless you decide to be more active, Polking, which I would encourage. I’ll probably take my vote off if you make one more post this cycle.- 493 replies

Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
A lot of little things to say: 1. I'm obviously OOC at this point, and intend to stay so for the remainder of the game. It was just impeding my ability to talk too much, and to say what I wanted to say. 2. I'm totally fine with getting a ray gun. On the other hand, if you're suspecting me, I'd agree with us both giving components to someone else that we both trust. I'd suggest Twei, but then she couldn't send in a protect, and for Mark it's the same thing. And I don't trust DC, and you don't want a kill (and it'd impede your Demolitionist action), so there unfortunately isn't much choice. 3. The writeup question that Araris posed a while ago is a good one. Alv, does a double kill show up in the writeup? If it does, then DC or Twei (more likely DC) are the obvious Eliminators, because they're the least active. 4. I trust Twei the most of those left. Then Mark, I think, then Araris, then Deathclutch. 5. I will also be around for most of tomorrow, in all likelihood, but there is a slight possibility that I won't, and I certainly won't be on for about ten hours. I'll post again in the morning to be more specific. 6. Araris, why'd you retract from DC in the first place? That confused me a bit. I see no reason for him not to lie about his role if he is an eliminator, and he was inactive enough that it's possible he could have forgotten to put in a Rookie order even if he were an Eliminator. 7. A tie sounds really hilarious. I totally vote for that. (As has been noted, I have a strange sense of humor. Ignore me.) 8. Does anyone else have any other items of use? I have a Magnet and Copper Wire, so if anyone else has a Battery Pack we could make an Electromagnet. Might not be much use, though. 9. I also have two pieces of Duct Tape, which is really quite useful. The best thing, I think, if I make a raygun tonight, would be for me to give both of those away to whoever survives of Twei, Araris, and DC (assuming I survive), whoever looks like they're getting lynched at the end of the day. Mark can prove he made an action, with a note. The two with duct tape would target each other (Alv, would that work? If two people put Duct Tape on each other, are they both blocked?), which proves they both made actions and prevents them from making any more even if they don't use the Duct Tape. The only person unproven would be me (because I'd be making the ray gun). Then the next day, either lynch me, or lynch based on whatever happens during the night. 10. If anyone is searching (which I don't think they should be at this point), please say that you are so that we know not to count your vote. But don't search. Wow. That was a lot of things. I'm off for the night in a bit (once I write a post for MR11), so unless anyone says anything in the next 20 minutes I won't see it for several hours. See you all in the morning! Edited for far too much italic. Oops. EDIT: One more thing. Emphasis mine. 1. Araris, what he's saying is that while it wouldn't be detrimental to the villagers to give an eliminator the parts of a ray gun, it also wouldn't be a bonus for the village. So it isn't as good to give it to a Traitor, even though it doesn't help the Traitor. 2. That point doesn't apply, because that's not how Araris' role works. 3. As I mentioned earlier, Shallan was bodysnatched before we found out her role. She was likely the Mortician. (If there was one, obviously). It would explain why they were careful to Bodysnatch her. 4. Also, Mark. Have you scanned anyone else who's alive? Obviously you're blind, so it's not too much help, but it'd be nice to know if Araris, or DC have been scanned. (I've been a Demolitionist and Twei as a Bodyguard). Also, for your scan this cycle, it would be equally nice for you to scan wrongly and get an eliminator result instead, because at least then we would know what role the Eliminator has. (If I'm understanding the role correctly, which I'm not sure I do.) Not that you can control that, though. EDIT: I put Twei's name (EDIT: I meant role. I'm a mess tonight.) in the wrong color.- 529 replies

Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Rookies have to choose on the first night. I did reveal. I'm a Strongarm, but I've only used my power once, to remove Lopen's vote on me in order to prove myself. Deathclutch, you're suspicious because you seem much more desperate than anyone else. And I don't trust Araris. He's almost as suspicious as you, but not quite.- 529 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Elbereth replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry for not voting last cycle. I didn’t have time to read through everything that had happened, so I could only RP. And even if I had had the time, I don’t know that I would have trusted my judgement to vote. Making decisions on travel days and less than five hours of sleep is never a good idea, so I didn’t. That’s a good thing! It means I’m in character! I will try to do a little more analysis. I’ve been more inactive than usual this game, I know, because of travel. Also, I’m not really sure why you’re voting on Polking. If he doesn’t post this cycle, he’ll die in the next writeup anyway. I’d suggest putting your vote somewhere more useful, if you really suspect him. Here’s my initial thoughts on the vote manipulation: Obviously, someone didn’t want Maill to die, and someone else didn’t want SD to die. I can certainly understand someone taking away Maill’s votes (though the following possibilities still apply to a lesser extent), but I’m not sure about SD’s. That means either he’s an eliminator protected by his teammates, is Influential himself, or has a Sori with Influence. (Wait, is that possible? GMs, can you have two roles?) Or the Eliminators are trying to frame him. Which is too many possibilities to do much with, unfortunately. So there’s that analysis. I’ll likely be on again at least once more this cycle (probably more than that), and RP will come then.- 493 replies

Long Game 16: The Empty Throne Part 2: The Catacombs
Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I have a focusing crystal! And I do feel comfortable killing other people, given that that was my role for my very first game (and I did quite well, too, particularly when I killed you). I can't promise not to target you this time too, though. I don't think anyone's been bodysnatched before we saw their role except Shallan. So maybe she was the Mortician? I got a note from Twei saying that she was a Bodyguard from Mark, so everyone knows. Deathclutch, go read Araris' posts more carefully. I don't think he meant to kill her. Actually, Deathclutch. You're very suspicious to me right now. Edited heavily for character. The meaning shouldn't have changed all that much, though. Just a little less elegantly phrased.- 529 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Elbereth replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That night, First of the Twilight didn’t leave the clearing outside her home. The bright blue bird was currently tied very carefully to a branch inside her tree, but she wasn’t satisfied with that. The threat of the bird escaping back to its master and potentially coming back here was too great. By the time she found out about the death of the bird’s previous owner, it was too late. She already had half of a well-made cage. She might as finish it, or else the night had been completely wasted. As the night drew to a close, First of the Twilight carefully put the finishing touches on the cage, work as fine as any craftsman’s in the Eelakin Isles. Then she went back into her home, not even bothering to put the bird in the cage. It would be fine for the day. Even the increasing number of deaths on the island didn’t matter at the moment. She just wanted to sleep. I don’t know if that made any sense, and I’m far too tired to check. I just wanted to get in some RP this cycle (with code words, of course). First of the Twilight is blending with me. That shouldn't happen, but I'm too tired to care at the moment. Quality is not the priority right now, given that I still have to write a physics paper before going to bed tonight. Woo... Hopefully this bit makes sense, since I wrote it earlier but didn’t want to post until I had RP to go with it: Do you have any reason to think that the Traitors stole your Aviar, rather than a Villager? As far as I can tell, there’s not any evidence either way. Your advice on what to do is sound. I just don’t understand the reasoning behind it.Sorry I didn’t have time to say more this cycle.- 493 replies

Anniversary Game 2: Return of the Koloss
Elbereth replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Aw, thanks! I'm rather proud of it, given that I wrote it on the airplane after about twenty hours of being awake. It had to go through several iterations before it made any sense at all, but it turned out quite nicely in the end. Poor El. Her life was not happy. -
Anniversary Game 2: Return of the Koloss
Elbereth replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Four woke El up early that morning, with such a huge grin on his face that El couldn't help but doubt her suspicions and paranoia. "I've got something to show you," he said eagerly. "Come on!" he urged, as she climbed down after him. He grabbed her hand and pulled her along towards the main square. But just before they turned the last corner, he hesitated. "El, I- I've never had a family before. No one else in the village would take me in, would let me be in their family. But you did. I'll never forget that. That's why– well, come and see." They turned the corner, and El stared, aghast. Bodies were strewn across the square, with fresh blood still streaking the dark cobblestones. In front of the bodies stood Clara, flanked by [Elkanah] and [Mashadar]. Behind her, Four nervously said, "I want you to be part of my family. Everyone else agreed that you can join us, if you want to." El finally found her voice. "You killed all of these people." "They wouldn't let me be part of their family," said Four, sounding hurt. "So will you? Please? Please, El, I don't want to see you die." She whipped around to face him. "These were my friends and neighbors. I grew up with them, learned from them, loved them. You're asking me to be a part of your family when you just killed mine." "Please, El," Four repeated in desperation. "And you know what? I have no reason to stay in this world anymore, except to avenge my real family. No. I will not join you. I will never join you! Why should I still be alive? "You killed Kassien!" She attacked Four uncaring of her life, and Clara stabbed her in the back. El gasped as the world receded, bright gushing lifeblood fading to gray. Four knelt over her, face stricken. "El... El, I'm sorry. Don't die, El! Don't leave me alone," he choked out. As El faded into death, she whispered one last word. "Kassien..." Well, after reading the evil doc I am even more impressed by the eliminator team. Awesome job, guys! Particular kudos to Mark. You know, after the game ended, the Villagers still didn't have a clue who was on the eliminator team (though Elk and Ripple both revealed in thread at some point). At that point, I was still doubting myself, and I was almost convinced that Mark was loyal. Nice. -

Elbereth replied to Alvron's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Since I mentioned it over on MR11 but not over here (I think?), I'm traveling, so I won't be around very much, particularly in the next 24 hours and to a lesser extent until next Monday. Apologies. EDIT: Forgot to put in what I actually meant to say. Right. So Lopen could have lied completely without getting caught. Great. For all we know, he just made up the role of Demolitionist completely!- 529 replies

...I didn't even realize my vote was changed until you said that. Hmph. I don't like people manipulating my vote! (I would use an appropriate book swear here, but I can't think of any from Sixth of the Dusk.)While that is a good point about Eliminators with Observant Aviar, I feel like you're giving Traders ideas, and potentially making protection roles more hesitant to protect likely good people, clearing the way for Eliminators. That's enough to put up a vote, Luckat. Also, I feel like the thing with Arrenae is because there isn't another viable option except the three players who are likely (though not necessarily) good, so players are seizing whatever chance they have to direct the vote away from those three.- 493 replies

Wow, good game. Hah, I actually had it basically right at the end. Too late to do anything, though. Storm it. RP coming in the next day or so. -

Right, thanks. Also, I'm not sure whether I'm going to be on much tomorrow. I'll try, but travel days do tend to get hectic. Night for now!- 493 replies

Arrenae, any idea what Cesarlii is supposed to do? Personally, I think that would be hilarious, but my sense of humor is strange.I don't think it's that likely, though. And it'd be risky, particularly if PK died. Three eliminators down with one death does not sound like a good plan for them.- 493 replies
