  1. Which ones haven't you read?
  2. I'm just going to list them in order. Linear, quadratic, cubic, quartic, um... quintic? Okay then, rational, absolute value, sinusoidal, hm. Does inverse count? That's eight, but I'm not totally sure if that's what you're asking for.
  3. Which Sanderson books have you read? Also, don't take the cookie. Just... don't. Kipper, I'm really tempted to put "DON'T TAKE THE COOKIE" in my sig, I'm saying it so often.
  4. I don't really know about my writing's quality. All I know is that is has improved. A lot. Seriously, my first worldbuilding was a Harry Potter ripoff called Tricera (named after Triceratops, seriously). Then my first NaNoWriMo was 50,000 words of nothingness. I actually have plots now, which is a lot better. I just spent 15 minutes away from writing to create a name for my evil church. It literally means "don't sorcery" in Quenya (Elvish, that is). ...So, not totally wonderful yet.
  5. My favorite thing about Defending Elysium is the two disparate viewpoints: viewing a character from the inside and the outside. Admittedly, I've always been really interested in stories that have a good character who is mysterious/scary. It's just one of my favorite things. Yeah, I read too fast as well. I'm thinking about getting audiobooks just to slow myself down and force me to think more. (I read WoR in around 13 hours, so... fast.)
  6. I tend to agree with you, although I liked Hero of Ages about as much as The Final Empire. My favorite of his is Words of Radiance, but I don't likke Way of Kings quite as much. Have you read his short stories? My other top pick of his works is actually Defending Elysium, which I really love.
  7. I'd say start with Mistborn. It's a finished trilogy, and also takes a lot less long to get through.
  8. The thing with Wax and Wayne is that it is a pun on the moon waxing and waning, but they'll never know because the Mistborn world doesn't have a moon. So it's kind of an injoke for the readers.
  9. Hello! Welcome to the 17th Shard! Which book is your favorite?
  10. Not anymore! It was just there for a while so people wouldn't get confused when I changed my name. For stealing the Dark Alley's cookie sales. You go! EDIT: Better wording.
  11. Hi! Welcome to the 17th shard. How are you finding Warbreaker so far? I've always felt that it's a bit different from Brandon's other books. Not necessarily in a bad way, though. DO NOT ACCEPT THAT COOKIE. I say that so often that I'm thinking of putting it in my sig, seriously.
  12. If you haven't read Mistborn, DO NOT ACCEPT THAT COOKIE. If you have... you'll still die, but at least you'll know what you died from.
  13. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! I only have an ebook edition of Way of Kings, so I don't know. If you have other trade paperbacks, you might look at them? Which are you going to read first?
  14. Yay! It will be so interesting to see this get used... It has so many ramifications that I probably haven't even thought of half yet. PTSD treatment! Used on spies after missions! It actually might be able to hypnotize people to a point. That is, someone gives a command of some sort, then dulls the person's memory of that command. Obviously not as versatile as a separate Hypnotism power would be, but it still has potential. Great for victims of crimes, too. So many things!
  15. So basically what you're saying is that the (season 8) was part of the dream too?
  16. Do not even get me started on Hypnotism. It's one of my favorite concepts to use. Seriously, I love this idea. ...With that said, I think enhance/dehance memory would work better as an Allomantic power. I like it, and it's not quite as out there as Hypnotism (which is basically what everyone thinks Soothing is, except even scarier). So I would advise you to go with that, even though I'm quietly saying do the hypnotism we should do the hypnotism that would be so much better... If you hadn't noticed, I quite like using hypnotism. I just don't think it would fit here.
  17. For accidentally downvoting things. (Sorry! That's just what I thought of!)
  18. For some reason, I can't see the second image in your post, TheYoungBard. Can you try to fix that? I've had the same problem with Kobold sometimes, so pm him if you don't know what to do.
  19. When you hear you're doing a play called The Ash Girl, and the first place you go to is Vin, rather than Cinderella.
  20. Thank you! Swinging is my baby, and I'm very proud of it. And I also support the inclusion of the telepathy, but I understand why it was not approved. Yes, the system does kind of mirror Ruin and Preservation, but not to this extend. It is explicitly stated in the books that Ruin could only communicate to someone, and not listen to their thoughts, and they had to in contact with metal (spiked). Preservation could only listen to thoughts, not put thoughts into peoples' heads. With that said, you could have someone with a literal web of connections, which would be awesome.
  21. Delightful, that's hilarious. I laughed for a solid five minutes after I finished it. Thank you for brightening my day.
  22. Ah! Cool! I'm responding! I don't have much to say, though.I don't think Wilson is suspicious. Maybe that's just my newness speaking for me, but she feels completely honest. I'm also not very suspicious of Adavantos, because he's probably posted twice as much as the next highest poster. As for suspicions, I really don't know. I think Bridge Boy was more suspicious than Adavantos, when both were up for the lynch, though Bridge Boy hasn't said much since then. Stink is... I don't know. I don't particularly suspect him of being traitorous, but I'll still be watching him. Also, I have no idea about the thing with pms and Mail. I wasn't part of any of that. Got to go. I will edit more stuff in if I think of it later.
  23. I think so. Any story that you write counts.
  24. So amulligan, what would happen to anything in between you and the metal? I understand what you're saying, Edro, I think. Disperse metal: you basically pick one piece of metal which then pushes on every piece of metal around it. Gather metal basically acts as a magnet for all metal, rather than just some types. I'm not sure about the aura. I still like metal sight as a different power. (Though metal sight might also be able discern the type of metal, which would be interesting.) I don't know about being similar to steel/iron. It is, but it's also more like Wax's bubble. You could do very different things with it that you can with steel/iron, I guess. Particularly with Gathering metal. On the other hand, you could also do very similar things, if you have any metal on you.
