  1. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! If you haven't yet, you might want to check out the Cosmere, which ties together several of Brandon's works. How are you liking Warbreaker?
  2. Obligatory warning: DO NOT ACCEPT THE COOKIE. Welcome!
  3. I'm still a bit confused. First, your plan requires that one of the pms be eliminators, when it is very possible that none of them will be. Also, the only way the rest of what I think you're saying could work would be if the HI could scan for Alignments, which he can't.EDIT: Here's what I got from your plan (correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably am): The HI discovers a role. He PMs 3 people, telling them that role. One of those people is (I'm assuming, for the sake of stating your plan as I see it) an eliminator. If the person that the HI scanned was loyal, the eliminators might kill them, or possibly not, depending on the scanned's importance and how willing the eliminators are to cast suspicion on themselves (as well as the other people receiving PMs). I'm assuming the HI doesn't tell anyone he's PMing who else he is tellin the roles to. I'm not sure what we gain if the scanned is loyal, because we don't really know that he/she is. If the scanned is an eliminator, we now know their role (though not that they're an eliminator). I'm also not certain how that helps us. Sorry if I'm missing something, but right now I'm not sure what you're suggesting we do.
  4. I was thinking a few more than that, but yes. My margin of error would be 1-2 loyal reluctant Hemalurgists + however many traitors we think there might be, just in case thay all say they're Hemalurgists. Unlikely, given his ability to scan, but possible.Speaking of which, how many eliminators do we assume we have? I know it's usually 1-2 in normal (real life) Mafia, but normal Mafia also doesn't have 30 people.
  5. This makes more sense to me, but I still think it wouldn't work, because Araris would still know the identities of all of the Forgers, even if he doesn't know what they Forged their targets into. Also, if he knew what their targets were, he would have a list of people who almost certainly have a role, who he could start seeking once he turned.
  6. Can you explain your two options a little more clearly? I'm not sure I understand them. What I got: Option 1: HI says each day who he scanned and what their role is. What is the point of this, except to let everyone (including the eliminators) what each person's role is in turn? Is there another part of this that I'm not understanding? Option 2: After a few cycles so that he can build up an idea of who he might be able to trust (somehow), the HI PMs three people what roles he has discovered in his scanning. If those people he has scanned start dying, then one of the people that was PM'd is an eliminator. If there is no noticeable change, then those people probably aren't eliminators, which is good to know, I guess? Except at least one of them could be an eliminator regardless, and I'n not sure what the point is. But if we tell him who the Forgers are, he can direct them until he is subverted, upon which point he will know the identities of all the Forgers and whoever they have Forged. This does not seem ideal. OP? So what roles are probably not going to be given to the eliminators? Kandra have already been mentioned.I would go through the roles myself, but I have to go back to hand copying a letter ten times, and I would probably miss something anyway.
  7. 8/10 Very cute, but also a skunk. I have had bad experiences with skunks.
  8. What I feel like right now: And for fun, a gross misinterpretation of Shallan and Kaladin's moment in the chasms:
  9. Hi! I'm here! And I'm not one with a sibling, sadly. I mean, I do have one, but she's not in the game. Other than that... My understanding is that Araris will not cooperate with Eliminators until all (loyal) Hemalurgists are dead, and that includes conspiring to kill Hemalurgists. I don't think he evern could side with the Eliminators, unless they reveal themselves, which seems unlikely. After thinking about it for a long time (only a few hours, and already my brain hurts), I think the plan works like this: Every Hemalurgist (and likely a few Eliminators) PM Araris that they are Hemalurgists. Araris does not share this with anyone, but he does share the number of Hemalurgists he has received (with the assumption that that number is slightly high, because of Eliminators). He keeps the numebr updated if any new ones are Forged. Unless this is very different from most (admittedly real-life) games I've played, we will know when Hemalurgists die, and be able to keep track of roughly when we should stop trusting Araris. Is that at all what you were thinking of, Alvron? Edited slightly for clarification. EDIT 2: Was that post all right? I don't know how much you want me to say. I could maybe say more of my thoughts if you want me to, but the above is the most relevant right now, I feel.
  10. For clarification- I'm assuming no one is informed when the Feruchemist changes a vote? Also, I'm wondering why the Voidbringer would ever not use his or her power. Unless there's a limited number of times that it can be used (which doesn't seem to be the case), that player is basically invincible from Eliminators unless Forged. I guess that means you only have a cycle more than you would usually (as well as wasting an Eliminator kill), unless you're somehow found out ahead of time (say, if the HI is already subverted). If the HI is subverted, then it seems like the only way to find out is either through analysis, or for a Forger to create a new Hemalurgist, who is as close as possible to confirmed innocence. That could potentially get tricky. One last question. I've read through a couple of games to get a feel for how this sort of thing works, but the ones I read didn't allow PMs. How does that affect gameplay? Edited for idiotically using "also" to start two paragraphs in a row.
  11. Vin, mostly because I like her better. I couldn't decide who would win in a fight, so it comes down to popularity.
  12. When you see the word "stratum" and you read "atium". When you create a magic system that is basically Allomancy with rocks and powers of 3... I mean... A totally different magic system that has nothing to do with Allomancy. I promise.
  13. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! Which of Brandon's books have you read?
  14. So I was transcribing the Gollancz signing last night, and this happened: So yeah. There's going to be more Reckoners!
  15. Technically, he's said Iron Feruchemy only involves mass. You have more mass, but are not more dense. (He kind of breaks physics with this one.)
  16. You get a wolf (half eaten by a cookie)! *inserts enormous handmade wordsearch*
