  1. Almost certainly.
  2. Agreeing with the others. "So-and-so is good people" is a pretty common slang.
  3. Hoid kind of thought the Shattering was necessary, and the Traveler reading implies it was so that he could change the rules of magic to make something possible. So I would guess he wasn't emotionally invested in keeping Adonalsium alive.
  4. I think what he means is that the intent is neutral, but how it's expressed can certainly be evil. Odium as Hatred could easily be hatred against injustice or oppression. Instead, it's hatred of, well, anything that isn't him. The intent can be applied to "good" purposes as well as "evil" ones, so in itself is not good or evil.
  5. I think it means that he's tapping Connection to fit in and feel like he belongs on Roshar.
  6. It's been 3 generations since they crashed, and most of the officers and experts that had the knowledge were killed. Their databanks were all destroyed too. So the only things they would remember at this point would be whatever the original survivors remembered, and whatever they could salvage. I could name some of the parts of the brain and I remember bits and pieces of what the different regions do, but I certainly couldn't give you a dissertation about any of them. Also, remember that the cytonics were among the ones that technically mutinied and crashed them on Detritus in the first place, and people wondered if they were in league with the Krell. Over a couple generations, all of that could easily have gotten garbled and mixed up into what they have.

Brandon manages to surprise us all again!

    The Krell

Also, they floated in nutrient baths, right? Would they even be able to survive without it?
  9. The theory we evolved about Doomslug and the cytonic hyperdrive (which was fun, though I'm not sure I fully subscribe to it) is that the hyperdrive can be powered two ways. One by an actual cytonic human such as Spensa. Another is by another organic being providing the cytonic impetus, aka Doomslug. So perhaps, when the pilot is not a cytonic, the organisms like Doomslug allow cytonic FTL anyway, at least in smaller ships. I'm sure the larger ones like the main Defiant ship needed a fully sapient being in order to transfer. Or the cytonic box is a decoy and the pilot was a cytonic. Which means he might still be alive, since Jason Write and some of his trainees lived to be well over a hundred years and still looked fairly young.
  10. Shallan says it to herself when thinking about stealing the Soulcaster in WoK.
  11. Ah, here is the old thread https://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/68892-ob-is-felt-a-kandra/?page=2
  12. I've gotten into this argument before, and I don't really feel like rehashing it in its entirety But here are my main points 1. Kandras are infiltrators. They are trained to be perfect spies. Standing out in any way, even as little as Felt does, would not be in character for a kandra. 2. There's no reason for a kandra to retain Scadrian bones or Shin eyes. The epicanthic fold is just a fold of skin. A kandra could fix that in seconds, even without taking new bones. But given the decades of war, there's plenty of spare bones around. A spy would want to blend in perfectly, not retain conspicuous bones. 3. A scout is generally sent off on, well, scouting missions. Not near where decisions and events take place. That's not a good position for a spy. A servant or scribe or something would make more sense. There are more that I don't remember off the top of my head, but I really don't think Felt can be the kandra. Mrall is my suspicion of choice.
  13. I don't think a kandra would stick out like that, even to the low degree that Felt does. I think Felt is somehow tapping Connection to make himself seem more Rosharan.
  14. He can't be a drab, since he's from Scadrial, and only Nalthians can give away enough of their innate investiture to be a drab.
  15. The Final Empire was published before he wrote the short story, though.
  16. This was because he wanted to write a story about Matisse, who was a student of his wife's, who wrote a book report on Elantris. And Ati was the only Aon that would work for her name. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/140/#e2240 https://wob.coppermind.net/events/140/#e2242
  17. Have you read the available exerpts of Dragonsteel?
  18. Here are the details of what you can do, what numbers to get, wristbands, etc. https://brandonsanderson.com/upcoming-events/#15309 @Ace0003 Man, I should have had you get my wristband for me
  19. We're going to meet at around 6:30 in front of the sci-fi/fantasy section, for anyone who wants to group up before getting in line
  20. Yeah they are definitely not pale white. They are a dark tan.
  21. A mix of various Asian/Middle Eastern ethnicities. They have dark skin and epicanthic folds.
  22. Yep. That's pretty definitive there, if you ask me. Not a lot of wiggle room in what he said.
  23. According to the Stormfather and to Brandon, the Oathpact was only between Honor and the Heralds, and binds the Fused to Braize. Whatever holds Odium to the Roshar system is greater than the Oathpact and involves Honor and Cultivation.
