@snote: Welcome! I know all we have are crackpot theories so far I'm lining up in the "That's really Jezrien for some Hoidish reason" line right now, myself. Well, that and the "Brandon is trolling us" line. It could be anything right now!

@Humph, o to the More Reply Options and it should give you the choice to attach an image. It really sounds like you are seeing the latitude numbers though http://brandonsanderson.com/beta/wp-content/gallery/stormlight-2-maps-and-illustrations-2/WoR_MAP-0_ROSHAR_fmt.jpeg

I've been trying to figure out if the double hash marks have any significance for days now. So far no luck, other than the whole broken brain thing...
-
Are you saying that If so, well, it wouldn't be TOO surprising. They'd both be broken by the same things--endless unrelenting pain...
-
Except that Dalinar and Elhokar are both from Kholinar, so they would hear it as no-accent if it were Kholinar-an north. I'm thinking north as in almost into Herdaz, (Mourn's Vault???) so the accent is a mixture of Alethi and Herdazian.

I'm not seeing any of this...
-
Pretty sure that's what Vasher is doing
-
I suspect there is some Returned blood in several of the "races" on Roshar, but I don't think that it has any bearing on whether Taln is Taln or not
-
Edit: Can't spell spoiler....
-
lol Aleksiel, we posted the same thing at almost the same time. @taliefer
-
The ummm what-do-you-call-'ems....pictures at the beginning of the chapter, that look like stone reliefs? Neither of them are Taln, one is Chach, and the masked man usually stands for Hoid, right? Or a worldhopper? Edit: Also Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I like this idea too
-
I think each level has more of a difference than that--Shallan mentions that she thinks the levels were used to grow food, so they'd need to be wide enough to accommodate gardens and the like. Otherwise, cool work on that

The continent Roshar looks a lot like Brandon's swirly signature.
-
It wouldn't exactly be multiple personalities, because he thinks he's Taln in all of them. Temporal confusion might be more accurate

The change in accents is really telling. I postulate the following: 1. He is Taln and his broken mind has caused him to get his times/languages mixed up. He thinks it's the last Desolation that occurred 4500 years ago, and is speaking in that language (which begs the question how do the Heralds figure out the latest languages? But that's a tanget). Let's call this Temporal Confusion Symdrome. 2. The person that showed up in Kholinar was Taln, but he's since been switched and someone else left in his place. (Fits with the different Blades that we see). [Disproved. Brandon has said that the person who arrived in Kholinar is the same person who arrives at the warcamps] 3. He was never Taln and is lying about everything (likely another Herald since he does seem to have an Honorblade, possibly Jezrien). 4. He was never Taln but thinks that he is, either having been brainwashed or just very mentally unstable (possibly Jezrien?) I can't think of any other possibilities right now... Edit: Oh! Or Brandon is just trolling us
-
We should move this discussion to the Dalinar's Blade thread, probably http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6899-spoliers-dalinars-blade/

I posted this in the signing thread, but maybe Hoid switched Taln and put someone else (Jezrien?) in his place. As to motivation, I have no idea why Hoid does anything, so I got nothing on that.

The Purelake is a giant mouth and it's grinning at us. It's actually Brandon's mouth and he's laughing his head off at all our minds getting broken. Edit: Marabethia is its moustache.

No worries Swimmingly. Cryptic, interesting idea, but there are a LOT of cities (22?). Just eyeballing it, I don't think that will come up with anything decipherable.
-
Maybe Hoid swapped the entire person, Taln is safe somewhere, and the person they now think is Taln is Jezrien!
-
Mr. Shattered Plainson would agree!
-
I'll hide in Roionsburg. They'll never find me there!

I wonder why Kholinar is the only city that shares a surname with the family that rules it. Granted, Sadeasville isn't very harmonious, but Vamahtown wouldn't be so bad...
