  1. That one always bugs me too! On topic, I agree that T's Diagram has a lot of solid information and predictive theory going for it (Hello, psychohistory!) but I'm not 100% convinced that it's going to prove the best for the planet and the people on it in the long run.
  2. Because he predates the Shattering, thus predates Endowment as a Shard.
  3. Elantrian hair is silver, not white. But he really doesn't need to be Elantrian, or Returned, or anything else.
  4. Why would he be an Elantrian? What points in that direction? Just because Hoid is immortal and powerful doesn't mean he's anything in particular. He predates everything that we know about. He doesn't need to be anything we've seen because he precedes, and supercedes, all of them.
  5. If he has it, I'd say it was because he was Yolish.
  6. That's a really big stretch if you ask me. He's already immortal, and great with disguises (not that he bothers to hide who he is very much), and likely has the sDNA to use all magic systems. He also has Investiture from most of the magic systems we've seen. He doesn't need to be Returned, and setting up those circumstances seems awkward and useless.
  7. Also, how exactly would he have died, given that he's one of the hardest-to-kill people in the cosmere?
  8. Except he still predates the Shattering, so he predates Endowment, and the Returned by multiple millennia. And he has all of his memories from all of that time. I don't think that the Shards can change how they give their Investiture by very much. That is, I don't think that Endowment has a choice on whether or not the Returned have their memories. It seems in many cases that it would be easier if the Returned had their memories. At the least, it might make them slightly less stuck up. And if they're meant to come back for "unfinished business" it would be so much easier if they could remember their business in the first place?
  9. I always think of it as acting like a biomechanical suit. It takes its own weight, and its responsiveness keeps you from feeling the inertia of moving it around. But when the power runs out, normal physics go back into effect.
  10. T.H. White wrote The Once and Future King, which Disney did a knock-off of (well one section of it) in their Sword in the Stone movie.
  11. It would be difficult because the Stormlight is being used by the ShardPlate
  12. Well, it could if he sees himself as healed. I think the scars, Shash brand included, are indicative of his depression and so forth, rather than a message he's trying to give.
  13. Yeah, it's widely held that he's feeding off of Stormlight instead of Breath these days.
  14. Vasher/Returned/Nightblood just consume Investiture. It's apparently fairly easy to interchange what Investiture one of them is feeding off of. However, changing the type of Investiture completely would be a lot harder. Like, you can't easily convert Stormlight to Breath, but you can easily convert something that feeds off Breath to feed off Stormlight. Like ummmm *bad analogy time* you can feed a cat catfood, or dogfood in a pinch, but you can't change a cat into a dog?
  15. The way a person sees himself has a huge part of how magic in the cosmere works. Kaladin sees himself as branded, and his scars won't heal until he sees himself as whole.
  16. Blue or violet. And sure do:
  17. Garnets on Roshar are a violet color, rather than a pure red. So Shallan's eyes should eventually turn violet-ish.
  18. For Ruin, he was missing a significant portion of his powers. He also had a balance (Preservation). He set up the minions so that they could act for him when he was being blocked. Odium, we don't know a lot about, but presumably, he has some sort of limitation on his power as well. We don't know what that is, but he seems to be imprisoned on Braize, so there is something preventing him from moving on. Also, Odium doesn't seem interested in destroying planets or regular people. He left Sel pretty much alone after he Splintered Devotion and Dominion, and as far as we know, he hasn't managed to Splinter Cultivation. There probably is some sort of limitation on Shardholders, but I think it has more to do with their Intents and the nature of their powers, than any external preventative force.
  19. Pressure change in air really isn't that dangerous. You'd have to go above ~18,000 feet for pressure differential to really cause a problem (the bends). Even then, it's not likely to cause a lot of issues. As long as you can breathe, pressure change isn't that big a deal. (Also, proofreading is still your friend!)
  20. He still predates Endowment, and there's no real reason for him to have chosen to be Returned, given that he's one of the hardest-to-kill beings in the cosmere.
  21. I would think not, since he has no problem remembering his origins. And spirit-web wise, I don't know how well he'd be able to use Feruchemy, and Allomancy if he were a Returned, since they're all Nalthians. We know that Hoid is Yolish at any rate, and pre-dates the shattering of Adonalsium. So he would pre-date the Returned by some orders of magnitude.
  22. That thread is engraved on my eyeballs
  23. This thread is going places! (Also, spellcheck/proofreading is your friend!) We have a WoB that as long as the bond is unbroken, the spren doesn't suffer(except emotionally from a dear friend dying) from the death of their KR.
  24. Anyone go and have their questions answered?
