[OB] Odium (and Dalinar) (and Honor) (and Cultivation)
RShara replied to Leyrann's topic in Stormlight Archive
I feel like Honor and Hatred combined together would be a very scary combination. Think of Nale at his very worst, times a thousand. -
Yes, Dalinar is considered a Sliver at this point.

I don't see how humans (or Parshendi) can become spren after they die. Spren are ideas come alive, and are, to varying degrees, Splinters. Humans, while they have some innate investiture, aren't Splinters. Plus, in MB:SH, we find out what happens to regular people when they die.

Hmmm that could either be an error, or it could be that it's referring to how she's moving very carefully--as if her feet were slippered. You should ask in the Typos thread.

[OB] Questions I have about Vasher and Wit
RShara replied to charlietk421's topic in Stormlight Archive
1. I've always thought this was referring to Odium. Wit does have a lot of enemies, though. 2. Yes, Zahel is Vasher -
A Sliver is defined as a person who has held or holds a large part of the power of a Shard. Since Dalinar is bonded to the Stormfather, and is able to create Honor's perpendicularity at will, I think he qualifies as a Sliver. So he Ascended, similar to how Vin did at the end of Well of Ascension.

Actually, I think I'd love her in real life too. I know exactly how she feels, and I would love to meet her and learn from her. That's one of the reasons I love her character. People actually say the exact same things about me that they say about her (even in this very thread). I also love logic and reason. And have been accused of being emotionless, cold, etc. Which is actually completely wrong. I just don't believe in baseless emotions. The whole "emotion is illogical" idea drives me nuts!

[OB] POLL:Favorite POV Oathbringer Character
RShara replied to Wyndleblade's topic in Stormlight Archive
Dalinar. I've loved his character since WoK! I was really worried about him in the middle, but he more than surpassed my expectations! -
[OB] Recreance: A Possible Account of Events
RShara replied to Salkara's topic in Stormlight Archive
The songs specifically talk about the Unmade, and the different forms that are granted by their gods, so I don't think the gods are the Fused. -
Maybe because there was so much going on? OB takes place over a pretty short period of time, and she was so overwhelmed with trying to survive and trying to figure out Urithiru, not to mention the pressing threats of the Unmade and the discovery of the Stormlight Archive, that she just didn't have time to thoroughly brief everyone on her discoveries. Other than the ones of immediate concern, like the drawings of the Heralds.

Dalinar had just Ascended, and was holding the Physical, Cognitive, and Spiritual Realms together. He's basically a Sliver at that point. With the power comes knowledge, and glimpses into the Spiritual Realm as well. It's quite possible that he is seeing hints of the time that's been foretold in the death rattle: That power and knowledge should also allow him to see and instinctively know who belongs in what Order.

[OB] Recreance: A Possible Account of Events
RShara replied to Salkara's topic in Stormlight Archive
That reminds me of the epigraph of chapter 26: So even if it wasn't the Last Legion that destroyed it, it sounds like it was still related to the Radiants and humans. Also, Eshonai says that they gave up their forms and became "dull" voluntarily, in order to get away from Odium and the Unmade. -
I don't think so. It has to be pretty significant trauma--enough to crack your soul enough to allow the Investiture in. Something that changes who you are, deep down. The laundry lady seemed pretty happy and dedicated, to me.
-
It's also possible that one of the Unmade is imprisoned somewhere in the palace, and that's what they're looking for.

Mmmm, you'll want to put [OB] in the Topic title, and make it more generic. See the spoiler policy at the top.

[OB] Will Kaladin spend some time on Braize?
RShara replied to MursenarySkum's topic in Stormlight Archive
Great minds! -
[OB] Who cried? (It's okay to cry. Admit it. You cried.)
RShara replied to Duke of Lizards's topic in Stormlight Archive
I didn't cry, but I definitely got shivers and thrills when Dalinar defied Odium. -
[OB] Will Kaladin spend some time on Braize?

I feel like renewing the Oathpact is like the definition of insanity--doing the same thing and hoping for different results. There's got to be a different/better solution. -
Yeah I rechecked Warbreaker. Looks like Shashara created Nightblood just after 'Steel (I can't keep them straight) invented ichor-alcohol.

Thank you for making that timeline clear. For some reason, I thought Nightblood predated the Manywar.

The WoR part 2 Epigraphs have some hints as to what happened. So humans taking over Listener lands happened slowly. I assume, as the human population grew, they just started settling more and more land, similar to what happened here in the US with the European settlers and the Native Americans. This seems to confirm the idea that the spren betrayal angered them enough that they turned to Odium, in order to regain their powers and forms. "It's not impossible to blend their surges to ours in the end" might be referring to how Venli's spren (highspren? lightspren?) bound the voidspren into her heart, so now she has access to both. And how Renarin is bonded to a corrupted Truthwatcher spren. So it looks like the Unmade and the voidspren are definitely Splinters of pure Odium. But "A Challenged champion. A strife even he must requite" is most interesting to me. It confirms Tanavast telling Dalinar to get him to appoint a champion.

Holy crap. Yeah, that's definitely not in my GooglePlay book. Let me try redownloading it. Maybe it's been fixed or something got corrupted. Edit: Redownloaded and it looks like that text is there. Not sure if mine got corrupted, or fixed.

[OB] Cosmere Crossovers, and the deal with Hoid

I know the Honorspren in Shadesmar mentioned that there were ways to free Syl from the Nahel bond before the Final Ideal is sworn.

Well we agreed that Nightblood probably doesn't consume more Breath the longer he is drawn. Or rather, that we didn't know if he did or didn't. My opinion is that he does not.
