Season five has been out a week, everyone here has seen it, and I haven't yet?
-
...Huh. I forgot all about that, apparently. Okay, so Jaime is out of the running it seems.
-
...Er... I mean. Thats cool. Warbreaker is my favorite cosmere novel too- can't comment on Rithmatist though, since I haven't actually read any of Brandon's non-cosmere books. Anyway, like Redbird (who is a cat not a bird for some reason, and sells cookies, because thats how we roll here, I guess?) says- welcome! Hope you enjoy yourself.

Hello Everyone! Looking for Cosmere information, in doses.
Quiver replied to Alyosha's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay. I'm afraid I don't know anywhere that matches what you're looking for, though- sorry. The only thing I could say would be the Coppermind, but considering thats the wikipedia for all of Brandon's stuff, that would be very difficult to avoid spoilers with. -
Depending on continuity, Optimus can fly- either by stripmining the dead (as in Bayformers) or spontaneously developing rocketboots (also in Bayformers). Not to mention his sick energy axe. As I said, we don't know what (if any) surges Szeth might get from Nightblood, and I don't remember Nightblood being able to cut through anything Shardblade-style as on Nalthis. Which means Szeth is reduced to just his sword skills, in which case, I wonder if maybe Jaime Lannister would be able to beat him.
-
Szeth is a good fighter- but he's just a man. Add in the fact he's using techniques and weapons largely unseen on Roshar, and you get a death machine. ...for now. As surges become more well known though, I suspect Szeths kill streak will become less impressive, since tactics and strategies will emerge to counter him. Hell be relying on the terror aspect of his skill set. That said, Supes would take him down easily. Superspeed? Heat vision? Heck, set up the Punisher with a sniper rifle a mile or two away. Without surges, beating that might be hard. (Admittedly, surges regenerating him might be an issue, but can storight heal him as it does Kaladin? He's capabilities with Night blood might not be the same as they were before.)

Huh. So, Wax is cosmere Indiana Jones? Not a complaint, of course- Indy is awesome- but the blurb reminds me of Raiders or Last Crusade for some reason.
-
If Wax doesn't have a bandolier next book, I'm calling shenanigans. Also, a poncho.

The heralds, where are they now(spoilers)
Quiver replied to .S.A.M.K.M's topic in Stormlight Archive
I have to object to this; as far as I know, we don't know anything about any of the Heralds eye colors. For some reason, I do think "Taln" is dark eyed, though whether that's true, stated in the text, or something I just made up I'm not sure. As for the rest of them, I think the only thing we really know for certain, in terms of social classes, is that Jezrien is/was a king (which makes Shalash a princess)- though even there, whether he was ana ctual king, if he retained that title after joining the Heralds, or if it was a case of "the Heralds leader is awesome, so he should be called a king" and he gained political power after that isn't clear. (Side note: damnation. We know that being on Braize is pretty awful; now I'm suddenly wondering how it must have felt to have been Jezrien there, watching your child being tortured, day after day, for centuries, if not thousands of years, and knowing the only way that it'll stop is if you unleash voidbringers and thunderclasts on the citizens of Roshar. Creepy.) Anyway, I think the drunk at the feast is the current favorite for "Jezrien", while one of the scholars or healers at Taravangians library is suspected of being another. Well. That makes narrowing down who Odium is a lot harder. -
Alloy of Law era Mistborn rp [Planning+Characters]
Quiver replied to Kestrel's topic in Inactive RPs
Nope. I'm not joining. No offence, sugar cube, but I'm not active enough for an RPG, and frankly, a western-based role play not featuring Applejack ain't one I want to be a part of right now. More seriously, relevantly, and related to the plot thing you were wondering about... here's an idea for you. Why not play with the whole frontier-town concept? I haven't seen the Mistborn Adventure Game books, and maybe they included some setting you wanted to use specifically in the roughs... but starting an RPG with the foundation of a new town out in the Roughs sound like a neat idea to me. Rather than having to flit round canon, you'd be responsible for making up the NPC's for it - or, for instance, if someone like me does decide to play now and again, they could have non-powered or regular townsfolk without being completely useless in the larger narrative(or derailing it by not posting), while still contributing something to what's going on; the players who want to hunt down criminals and be the John Wayne types can do that, the ones who might be more interested in world-building and social dynamics can work on building the town, etc. Not to mention, it's a pretty simple explanation as to why you're characters are important, and why you can shape events. Rather than being random deputies, or shop owners or whatever, you're in positions where you're the ONLY shop owners, or the ONLY people who are willing and/or able to enforce law in this neck of the woods. Added to the fact that you would have a lot more options for how you want to customize your settlement (like making it functional and independent, turning into a crime den, using it as a front for something else, whatever). Anyway- sory if that rambling wasn't helpful, or was something you were already planning on doing anyway. Good luck with the RPG though; it would be neat to see some more cosmere-based RP's around here. -
Huh. Neat. I would be really, really interested in reading that, actually- a few years ago, I had an idea for a short story that used luck as kind of a starting point. I gave up on it, but I'd still be interested to see what you did. (If you're wondering my luck-based idea involved the anthropomorphic personification of bad luck -Lady Unluck- hanging around casino's to make people lose bets and stuff. I kind of thought of doing like, a romantic comedy with it... but never figured out the specifics, so I just scrapped the idea.)

It starts at 6AM. So this is me. ... Or at least it would be if that was airing in the UK as well. Still- season five! And also, the movie! I'm pretty sure I saw the film when I was younger- which baffles me, since MLP was not a thing I was into as a kid. Still, guess thats just how pervasive popular culture can be- Nothing can stop the Smooze pony.

Time To Delurk. Unlurk? Undelurk. Wait...no.
Quiver replied to mostlywhatnot's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Sort of? I like the idea of Galactica, but that show didn't go far enough with its themes, in my opinion, and the later seasons were a mess. Funnily enough, that description also describes Enterprise, if you reverse "later seasons" with " one, two and some of three". Anyway... I have a fondness for the back half of the classic Doctors- Six, Seven and Eight. Of the moderns, Nine was awesome, and Eleven was cool (before season six and seven anyway...). Really, it tldepends on my mood at any given moment who I like the best.- 12 replies

Eshonai and Jasnah are great choices- two of the most interesting characters, for sure. Anyway, for Star Trek, I haven't seen a lot of it. I only got into it a few years back, and I prefer more...realism, drama and story arcs to TNGs 'done-inone' style, so that crew just doesn't appeal to me. Big fan of the Sisko, though. Enterprise is also a guilty pleasure. I love what could have been with that show, in so many ways.- 12 replies

...and the Holy Grail Life of Brian ...Yeha, those are the only two I can ever remember. I'm original! I'm not really that big a fan of Monty Python. I haven't watched it in years -so maybe if I did I'd love it- but so far as British comedy goes, Blackadder is the best. Even if a bunch of guys on crucifixes singing "Always look on the bright side of life" is kind of funny.

Bump! I'm posting the submission thread now, sicne I won't be here during the week to do it. In the same veing, I'm just double-checking with this months prompter to make sure they're able to do it, and I'll post/update when I hear back from them. As for this month... I didn't write anything for the prompt, specifically; but this month, I did end up writing 14K words of fanfiction. I'm considering posting one of said fan fictions since, while it's not quite finished, the story is about the effect that a female athlete has had on the world coming back to affect her. I have another chpater to write, but I think chapter one ends in a place that's sort of complete on it's own... Possible downside: it's pony-related. So.. you know.

Have something that fits the March writing prompt? Post it below! Otherwise, if you want to talk, discuss and critique, check out the usual place. March Prompt provided by Ashiok March is Women's History month. What marks have the women of your setting left on history?

I have seen just enough of Star Trek to know that Picard is not "My Captain". By laws of the internet, I challenge you to a duel. (I may call a truce depending on who your favorite Doctor is. Or your opinion on Pony.) Anyway, aside from a possibly-impending internet war, welcome! I admit, I haven't ever been to cons, but I know there are at least a few people on this forum who are interested in/have done Sanderson-related cosplays in the past, so hopefully that's something that'll appeal to you. Who's your favorite character from the Stormlight Archive?- 12 replies

This is the internet. Reinforcing that the Shambling Horde are the Bad Guys and you should be afraid of them is probably a good idea.
-
My description stands. (Don't click that unless you want your whole day to just disappear.)
-
I don't watch the show, but I read some stuff you guys might be interested in: The spinoff show has been titled Fear The Walking Dead, with a trailer maybe to air next week.
-
History books refer to this as the high point of human civilization.
-
If Human had descendants, would that mean that they are... Humanitarians?
