  1. Well, I'm a little bored, and despite technically establishing the "Mafiaverse", I never actually got around to doing anything with them.. so a group of thieves sound slike a pretty fun place for a turf war. Supposing you don't mind, of course; I just feel like doing some goofy RPing lol. (For the record, can we keep this out of the Herd thread, since that is... not an RP group here? Which is kind of strange.) There was a small pop, the room momentarily lit up by a flash of purple magic. The light subsided, to reveal a unicorn. Stranger than that was the fact that the unicorn's coat and mane were shades of purple, and stranger than that was that the pony was wearing a suit. The strangest thing, though, was when she started to talk. "Seriously?" she said aloud, in a pampered tone that dripped arrogance. "These are the guys trying to muscle in? What a joke." The fact that it had taken Dawn a long, long time of information gathering(boring), study (urgh), preparation (URGH) and magical talent to penetrate the Surgethieves lair wasn't indicative of it being a joke either way. Smirking, Dawn whistled. "Helloo~? Anypony here? It's the tax pony."
  2. A prenup? Eh, why not. Granny Hoid seems like a trust worthy individual. I'm sure nothing bad can come from this, and I'm kind of curious to see just what an eldricth abomination would do with the "soul and struggles" of a god-horse. (Not to mention general boredom. When bored, write something that will have hideous consequances for the characters involved- like a signature!)
  3. I'm sure Nightblood can be substituted with Calamity and get the same result.
  4. Now I want to rewatch Firefly through Serenity. (Though I do find it funny that when I tried to find a good MLP-related Firefly picture, I keep getting this.)
  5. Hmm. On the one hand, your sales pitch is incredibly sketchy and vague. You have already implied that Granny Hoid is, if not the ultimate darkness, a servant of such a force- one which would be abhorent to Harmony in all it's forms, Scadrian or Equine. On the other hand, Celestia loves supporting good causes!
  6. Granny Goodness"Hoid"? Oh no. Cosmere Darkseid is coming, isn't he?!
  7. Given how scant the information we have is, it might be better to wait a book or two before trying to codify rules. Of course, you could always start a freeform RPG in the meantime! The Oregon thread showed how successful those can be!
  8. The hearsay is absolutely true. That finale is one of the worst things I have ever seen... and bear in mind that I say that as someone who is a) a lukewarm Star Trek fan at best, watched it years after the show was canceled and c) was actually pretty interested to view that episode as a microcosm of Star Trek's television run as a whole. And I still hate it to the point of irrationality. Sorry to belabour the point but... yeah, not a good finale. Glad someone else thinks so! I admit, the "evil parrallel universe" gimmick is one of my favorites, in any medium. The Enterprise two-parter was ridiculously fun, "Mirror Mirror" is one of the few episodes of TOS I've seen, and I generally liked the stuff set in DS9. Shame we never saw a Mirror!Picard though. Pretty much the only thing in this post that I don't like is the lack of mention for Bashir, because Bashir was awesome.
  9. I used to think Endowment was female. My current hope (which works regardless of gender) is that Endowment was an "evil" character who only started doling out Breaths on Nalthis because thousands of years had twisted them towards that intent, as with Ruin. But obviously thats just speculation...
  10. Challange Accepted. ...Eventually. Sorry for the delay!- I am really, really slow for stuff these days, made somewhat worse by the fact that I have my own writing projects that I am really, really behind on (by which I mean, not having started). So having said that, here's some random story ideas that occurred to me, and I'm wondering whether or not to pursue. Granted, they're fan fiction, rather than original stuff- but frankly, I am so out of practice, and so lazy, I probably need to do something "easy" before trying original work. (Oh, and while most of my projects mentioned above are MLP, these aren't. Still, one is Cosmere, and the other is comic books, so spoilering in case anyone doesn't want to see them.) Mistborn WoA / HoA spoilers Superman
  11. Terrible science and even worse plots. I didn't get into Trek until after Abrams first movie (so I I didn't see it in cinema, which is good, because the lens flares might have blinded me), but I did go to see Into Darkness- and that had to be one of the most disappointing movies I've sat through. And it only took four words for it to really derail for me. Anyway: DS9 is pretty awesome, though I have to admit, I never saw the end of it- I think I got as far as season five? I'm not sure. But it's definitely a show which is worth a watch. It has a few bumpy episodes, particularly in the early seasons, but the characters are amazing. Enterprise is a wierd one though. I've described it ebfore as Star Trek: Missed Oppurtunities, and I stand by that description. The concept behind the show was pretty cool. The idea of humanity having evovled beyond prejudice and having created a utopia was always mentioned in the other shows; Enterprise gave them a chance to actually show how it happened. I can't get into TNG because I find the characters a bit cold for my liking (whereas they are a lot more human in DS9). Enterprise should have had a crew not dissimilar to modern-humanity and show how they end up becoming Picards, Kirks and Sisko's. As I say, I liked the show... but the majority of the stuff I like comes from the third and fourth seasons (I think the only good thing in the first two is Shran, really). I've seen a lot of complaints that the Xindi Arc didn't make sense, that Star Trek should be about exploration rather han blowing stuff up - but I thought that that was the point of the storyline. Then season four happened, and everything just got so much better. It's a shame the show got canceled; if it hadn't, I think Archer would have become a much more popular character than he is. I get the complaints about him, but I thought the character had a lot of room to grow; it's just that the first two seasons didn't really have him change or develop. My take on the show was that season three left him traumatized, and season four was about building him back up again into a better man. ...The problem being that then the show got canceled. So when I say I like Enterprise,a lot of the time I mean "I like what Enterprise could, and should, have been, rather than what it was".
  12. Welcome! If you need something else to read between thefts, I'd recommend Warbreaker. Brandon has downloadable copies of it on his website, so hopefully that will help you when Elantris and Firefight aren't available.
  13. I'm not as old as Voidus, but I shall echo his sentiment - age before beauty and all that. Except for the cookie part. You should really turn down the cookie.
  14. That...is strange. The picture appeared on some other computers I've used. Strange. Anyway...
  15. I'd like to join, if you don't mind. I'm not an artist though. Or a musician. I do write now and again though - I have bits and pieces here, but lately, its mostly been MLP fan fiction on fimfiction. I am kind of planning some cosmere fan fiction though!
  16. I've seen it mentioned a few times in other threads, so I figured it might be worth starting one here for fans of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, Abramsverse or whatever else. So... Any takers? Personally - I'm a terrible fan. The only shows I've really watched are DS9 and Enterprise.
  17. Quick tip: its usually better to edit posts, rather tjan post multiple times. Anyway... I've read all his cosmere books, bar Elantris. If you're a fan of the Reckoners books though, I'd recommend checking out the RPG forum. The Oregon group have some great roleplay games going on.
  18. I have opinions. I liked it. The above is just random thoughts on the episode as a whole- but honestly, I want to talk about the villain more. So... Quiver pony analysis!
  19. Celestial will raise one student to an alicorn, burdening her with the fate of watching her friends griw old and die. Chrysalis will turn all of them into changeling-alicorn things together. Which is the good one again? Anyway, I snark, but those are really good. I love the little details, like changeling Angel Bunny, and Dash still having multicoloured mane and tail. Also, Pinkie Pie looks crazy. Ier than usual, I mean.
  20. (Sorry for the double post- for some reason, this piece of text refused to stay outside the quote box, and obviously this is my speculation rather than part of the interview. If someone could merge these posts together, I'd be oblidged.) As for the Herald keeping the Honorblade... I think common speculation is that that was Nale. If I remember correctly, Lift thinks she see's him glowing as if he's using stormlight, and going back for his Honorblade seems the most obvious solution for that route. Then again, I'm not up to date on WoB at all, so i might be wrong. Still, I think it's pretty safe to assume the Five Scholars were Nalthian to begin with.
  21. Interview on Theoryland, recorded on Aug 6th 2014:
  22. Often, people will try to give you a cookie. Don't take the cookie. Anyway, welcome. Aside from the Mistborn novles, which Brandon Books have you read?
  23. True- but said patron is also running around killing surgebinders. I'm sure that Szeth will end up with Skybreaker surges eventually (if he doens't already have them), but whether he has them yet isn't particularly clear. For all we know, being bonded to Nightblood might give Szeth completely different skills than a normal Skybreaker. (Besides, though Nale calls his gang the Skybreakers, their relation to the actual Radiant Skybreakers isn't particularly clear. We have no idea what abilities Szeth has, if any.)
