  1. I was more going for Nightblood is getting this from another Shard, who is not on Nalthis, but is still drawn to Nightblood because of his perversion of Endowment's magic system, which this theoretical Shard is be the opposite of. Maybe somehow indirectly taking power from it. Ok now I am just making things up, and really should get back to my research paper.
  2. Well I would like to point out that all of you people are old. Got into it because of a favorable review from Orson Scott Card after reading Ender's game, and the advise of a life guard at the pool who thought that I had nothing to do. It was true I didn't, so I read and read and read, until I bumped into Brandon after he was chosen to finish the series.
  3. No offense but ewwwwwwww
  4. So I guess the Cosmere has real world significance too.
  5. Is it possible that the opposite Shard to Endowment could also be fueling Nightblood giving him(it?) extra power? All the Shards fit into categories like the allomantic metals, like Ruin and Preservation. While the Shards will not line up so conveniently on any one planet, Endowment must still have an opposite somewhere in the Cosmere, and it must be able to power Endowment's magic system, like Ruin and Preservation. Because this Shard would be in favor of whatever is the opposite of Endowment, it seems to me that it would be willing and perhaps unknowingly powering Nightblood. This would work out extremely well if it happened to be Aona or Skai, or any other possibly disembodied Shards that happen to be floating around, with nothing to control their power, except their intent.
  6. It is 2.99$ on Amazon based on 5.99$ on Itunes. Is this right? I didnt mind because I had a gift card that I would have never used anyway, but it is useful info. Anyway. Really liked it, was kind of depressed when it stopped. I didnt really like the game that much, Im more of an RTS person (Warcraft and Starcraft). I liked the book better than the game. But I like everything brandon has written so thats not a surprise. Makes me want to give the game another try. It should not take that long to fix compatibility. That is a 10 minute fix. A big publishing company like that should already have a program.
  7. The thing is I wish that I had my WoT all hard cover, alas they are not, and the paperbacks are completely destroyed, after my brothers and I have read them. Granted we werent gentle but the hard covers have lasted much longer. Hard cover is much bigger, heavier, so if you need to carry it around with you get paperback, but other than that get hardcover.
  8. What about Jasnah. She can shoot lightning bolts at people. Szeth doesnt know about her, she could definitely foul up his plans to kill Dalinar.
  9. Peter should troll more
  10. The nightblood question has been discussed in another topic. i think it is because He rips breath away from people in order to destroy evil. He is unnatural, metal brought to life, and His very existance goes against both the magic system by which he was created, and the nature of the Shard, whose power he uses.
  11. While they might be aliens to each other, they can all be described as human. Humans from different planets breeding is more likely to cause Spiritual DNA problems. For example if an Allomancer bred with an Elantrian would their offspring have the spiritual DNA to possibly become both an Elantrian and an Allomacer. Either way, I say that Vin will be in the final Cosmere epic. Completely off topics, I just thought of it, reading this topic. I dont know where it came from, but whatever.
  12. I dont know who said it, but Ruin just wants to kill you, Odium wants to torture you for all eternity.
  13. That doesnt seem possible. Before the discovery of the Chasmfiends everyone thought that the last GreatShells had been killed off. If people had known that there were still ones left, hunters would have come from all over. And these ones are easy to kill while they are pupating.
  14. Who Galladon? I always thought that he was born before his father became an Elantrian.
  15. at approximately 1:03 into the vid
  16. Its not like anyone could have just picked up Galivar's shards. They were completely destroyed by Szeth, if someone claimed them, by saying that they had won them, they would be accused of killing the king, and subsequently put to death.
  17. The experience in Dakhor certainly sounds like domination. Dilaf dominated the place and make the young monks lives terrible. Also, Dilaf's ability to resist Aons. He said that it took the lives of 50 men to give him the ability. I dont know if he specifically mentioned if they were Dakhor monks or not. I suspect they are, otherwise all the monks would get the ability. Normal people dont seem to have any significant value to him. The points for sacrifice seem mainly to be the teleporting scenes, in which Dilaf sacrificed the life of a Dakhor monk to move him to another place. The first time was to take him to see Wyrn, who was only a 15 minute walk away. After this seen he says something about the need for obedience and complete devotion to your master. The second time he uses it to transport himself to Arelon.
  18. Well I never knew that there were so many members of the 17th Shard.
  19. Yes, if a stone cracks it can be used in smaller pieces. The issue with soulcasting is large amounts of power can crack gemstones. It seems to me that large gemstones crack when they run out of stormlight, but smaller ones like Broams are so small that they cannot crack anymore.
  20. Ya, its probably been only 6 months since I read the whole series through, but I love the avatar.
  21. Thats how I spell things. It is much easier than looking up the correct spelling. You should see my Wheel of Time spellings.
  22. I thought the Parshendi claimed responsibility for killing him?
  23. About Nightblood, I think Chaos is right. It also has to do with the reason that no one can force another person to give up their Breath it has to be done willingly. Nightblood takes it from them, which is against the nature of Endowment.
  24. One thing about spren that I noticed, is they do have some sort of mass. Kaladin can brush Sly away, but im not sure about other spren. The way wind spren are described is they follow you around like a fly, really annoying especially when you cant kill them.
  25. I like that zas, the other lands part really makes it seem like some off world experience, instead of just say Teod, or one of the other areas in Elantris.
