Not with a toddler to keep an eye on. Otherwise I could do it. Audiobooks are a good thing. -
Suggestion: Shut down the WoR forum till release!

March 4th: the day the WoR Forum goes dead. -
Dalinar used a similar metaphor as well. He just used it incorrectly. It could be Kaladin. It could be Taravangian. However, I think we will be surprised by who actually says this.

Spoiler free review/reactions from TOR
eveorjoy replied to Who Sharded?'s topic in Stormlight Archive
I think this is referring to the chapter 3 where... However, this quote made me hopeful that Jasnah will live on past chapter 7. Jasnah is the only person called heretic, so far, the statement refers to her present tense, and she hasn't done anything very "outrageous" in the chapters released. Of course that depends on your definition of outrageous. -

I agree with a smart guy. I bet she is referring to Amaram. And this is Elhokar. And this is Adolin. Chapter 3. -
Here is a weird reaction. I have been listening to my WoK autobook for weeks now because I'm excited about WoR. Now after reading that one glimpse I can bring myself to listen to Kaladin's story again. This glimpse feels like a natural progression, but it is in a different place from where Kaladin's story ended in book 1. I don't think I will be able to enjoy WoK until I read WoR now because I want to know where Kaladin's path will go from there. I'm glad we only need to wait two more weeks.

He could be talking to Moash or Rock. But I think it is most likely just Syl. I hope not though.

Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
eveorjoy replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh it could be Eshonai, no doubt. The point of reviving the topic was to consider a possibility, nothing more. I also don't think Kaladin would completely betray.Dalinar. I think he would only do a minor betrayal. Help Sadeas win a political conflict or protect him from being caught in an action against the Kholins. Afterward Kaladin would realize his anger at Amaram is turning him away from his promise to Syl to become a KR. So he would let go of his anger apologize to Dalinar and the two become closer friends because the experience. And Kaladin starts wearing Dalinar's cloak. Or something completely different will happen. -
Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
eveorjoy replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sorry, but I assumed you would know I was speaking of two different Epigraphs. The fault is mine. I realize I wasn't clear. Let me explain. ( Long post coming) My original post was about the the Epigraph from chapter 69 "Justice" I will come back to this epigraph and how it maybe about Kaladin, Sadeas, and Dalinar. For the moment, I please be aware that this epigraph was not fulfilled in TWoKs. You then said that the epigraph doesn't feel like Kaladin's POV. So I brought up the Epigraph from chapter 59 "An Honor" This also does not feel like Kaladin's POV. But of course, he didn't say it a lighteyed five-year-old did. None the less it is still about the events at the end of chapter 67 "Words" I'll compare the passage to the scene on pages 925-926. Parts will be removed for brevity. The Epigraph from chapter 59 in blue. My extra comments in red. "Kaladin screamed, reaching the end of the bridge. Finding a tiny surge of strength somewhere, he raised his spear and threw himself off the end of the wooden platform, launching into the air above the cavernous void." Above the final void I hang, "Bridgemen cried out in dismay. Syl zipped about him with worry. Parshendi looked up with amazement as a lone bridgeman sailed through the air toward them." friends behind, friends before. The bridgeman were behind Kaladin and Dalinar's army waited on the other side of the chasm. "His drained, worn-out body barely had any strength left. In that moment of crystallized time, he looked down on his enemies. Parshendi with their marbled red and black skin. Soldiers raising finely crafted weapons, as if to cut him from the sky. Strangers, oddities in carapace breastplates and skullcaps. Many of them wearing beards. Beards woven with glowing gemstones. Kaladin breathed in." The feast I must drink clings to their faces, "The Words, a voice said, urgent, as if directly into his mind. In that moment, Kaladin was amazed to realize that he knew them, though they’d never been told to him." and the words I must speak spark in my mind. "“I will protect those who cannot protect themselves,” he whispered. The Second Ideal of the Knights Radiant." The old oaths will be spoken anew. This proves the Epigraph from chapter 59 predicted Kaladin saving Dalinar. If one Epigraph is about Kaladin surely other Death Chant Epigraphs could be as well. Back to Chapter 69 Epigraph. “All is withdrawn for me." Kaladin lost everything. "I stand against the one who saved my life." Dalinar saved Kaladin and Bridge four from execution by trading his shardblade to Sadeas. I protect the one who killed my promises. Sadeas caused Kaladin to fail to save many of the bridgemen he promised to save. Kaladin maybe willing to help Sadeas if Sadeas promises him Amaram's life. I raise my hand. The storm responds.” Kaladin is a Windrunner and has already ridden a storm. The storm could respond to him. Could I be wrong. Yes. But the Epigraph could does fit Kaladin, Dalinar, and Sadeas. And just as the Epigraph from chapter 59 doesn't feel like Kaladin's POV, the Epigraph from chapter 69 doesn't need to feel like Kaladin's POV to be about him. I hope this post was clearer. If not, I'm sorry. I tend to write better narrative fiction than analytical arguments. -
I'd want to be a Pewter misting. I could use the extra physical strength and health to take care of my daily chores. As for my Ferring metal, I'd want copper. I'm an aspiring writer and it would be great to put all the notes for my various stories into copperminds. I guess pewter/copper is not a natural match up, but I'd want something that would help my needs. I almost picked pewter/bronze, but I doubt I would have the time to nap and store up my wakefulness.

Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
eveorjoy replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
Happily ever after, eh...? Your idea isn't bad, it's just Szeth doesn't fit the epigraph as well as Sadeas. Of course, my theory could likely be wrong too. -
Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
eveorjoy replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Epigraph from chapter 59 doesn't have Kaladin's particular voice either and yet it is clearly a prediction of the end of chapter 67 "words." Kaladin may not be the betrayer, but the Epigraph fits Kaladin, Dalinar, and Sadeas when you consider that Sadeas could tempt Kaladin and would have reason to do so. -
Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
eveorjoy replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
A crushed leg takes time to heal from. -
It would be an affective death. However, I wouldn't her death mean the end of Kaladin's powers? If she were to die, it would be in a later book.

Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance

Who is the one that Dalinar protects and how did he break Dalinar's promises? Could Dalinar control storms some how? -
Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
eveorjoy replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
The epigraph of chapter 59 in WoK was clearly about Kaladin saving Dalinar and it was in first person POV. So not all of the Epigraphs are about the Heralds and Kaladin becoming the only Windrunner makes him very much a part of the Desolation that is coming. @don_karma_II: How did Szeth break Kaladin's promises? -
Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
eveorjoy replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
Okay, reviving a dead topic with a crazy theory. Here is the Epigraph from chapter 69 "Justice" again. I've been concerned for awhile about how much the epigraph fits Kaladin, who has lost everything and maybe be able to ride storms. Also this is the epigraph to the chapter wherein Dalinar saved Kaladin's life. I really don't like the idea of Kaladin betraying Dalinar, but it does fit. As Aether suggested, what if the the one who Kaladin protects is Sadeas? Sadeas did kill Kaladin's promises to save all of the bridgemen. So Sadeas fits the Epigraph as well. But why would Kaladin ever consider teaming up with Sadeas? To get revenge on Amaram. Sadeas wants to kill the Kholins and his main obstacle is now Kaladin. He might not care about this until he fails killing the Kholins once or twice. Sadeas is predicable, but not stupid. He might start looking into Kaladin's past to find out more about "the miracle" and discover what Amaram did. Sadeas may just learn that Amaram enslaved Kaladin or maybe he will learn the complete truth. Either way Sadeas has shown that he will betray an ally if it suits him. Also Amaram is an ally to the Kholins. Sadeas may find it in his best interests to be rid of him anyway. With this knowledge, Sadeas makes an offer to Kaladin asking him to help bring down the Kholins. In exchange Kaladin can have Amaram's life. I think Kaladin would consider it and might even agree for a time. His anger at lighteyes in general, and at Amaram in particular, does corrupt him. Chapter 46 "Child of Tanavast" pg 662 Perhaps he will protect Sadeas from being caught and tried for one of his assassination attempts on the Kholins. Kaladin, then changes his mind at the last minute and use his Windrunner powers ("I raise my hand the storm responds") to save Dalinar and Kholins. What do you think? -

I will start reading WoR on my Kindle at 9 pm on the 3rd of March. (It's a good thing to be living in the pacific time zone.) -
People hunted by Assassins still die of natural causes and old age. Assassins don't normally have targets that can turn them into fire and smoke. Could she die? Quite possibly, but maybe not. I'm crossing my fingers.

It would be a shame if Sanderson killed off Jasnah. I see so much potential for her character. Maybe she won't die, but instead will travel somewhere she can't return from easily. Elsecaller have the surge of transportation after all. What if she becomes a worldhopper. Jasnah on Scadrial or Sel would be interesting. I'm not sure Dalinar will die, but if he does something needs to happen between him and Kaladin first. Something significant needs to happen that inspires Kaladin to wear Dalinar's cloak. Sanderson hung a lantern on that cloak in TWoKs and in Kaladin's opening chapter in WoR. That cloak is an important symbol. Kaladin also will need to form a connection with one of Dalinar's sons. Currently the only lighteyes in power Kaladin trusts is Dalinar. He will need Kholin support if he is going to continue Dalinar's mission. If Dalinar dies, Kaladin is going to need to trust another Kholin. I also hope Sadeas dies. I'm hoping Hoid kills him with an awakened sword after Sadeas tries attacking him with Oathbringer. Unless something amazing comes from Sadeas in WoR I think his character has run his course. I don't think Amaram will die in WoR. Amaram is involved in something that will cross several books. He could die, but who would take his place as the connection to whatever he and Gavilar were involved in? Dalinar could fill that position, but if he dies as well then there is no one else. So if Dalinar dies I think Amaram is safe, at least for a few books. Also killing Amaram in the book Kaladin must confront him again in is so cliche. Some additions to your list. Elhokar. -- Unless some serious changes happen to him, he won't live much longer than Dalinar. Also I don't think it is possible to unite Alethkar as is. Alethkar will fall with the death of Elhokar. Several members of Bridge four ( And it will be important ones. Rock, Lopen, Skar.) -- Though I don't know who. I think the only ones who are safe are: Teft, Moash, and Sigzal. Unless we hear the rest of Teft's story in WoR, he will last a few books. Unless Moash gets a chance at revenge in WoR he will last a while. Besides there is a good chance a spren will take interest in Moash. As for Sigzal, I doubt Hoid's apprentice will die before book five. He may even become a worldhopper as well. Adolin or Renarin -- several Kholins will die, but one of Dalinar's sons will hang around. Tozbek and his wife -- I don't think they will survive chapter 7. The captain will go down with the ship. I hope Yelb survives though.

Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
eveorjoy replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree that Adolin would not believe Kaladin, but Dalinar might. He has already seen Kaladin bring down a Shardbearer and I doubt he would believe Kaladin deserted. However, I agree that Kaladin won't just tell Dalinar either. -

The Order of Toddlers' oaths. (Inspired by my one year old son.) I will find all the objects that have been forgotten, and put them in my mouth. I will mess up the living room in less than a minute. I will poop my pants after I'm completely dressed and my parents are taking me out the door. Everything you own is mine to drool on. -
Gross question:Why not soulcast from the latrines?
eveorjoy replied to priceless's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think the raw material soulcasted into something effects what the product will be. Chapter 5 "Heretic" pg 91 If you could just soulcast anything into anything, then why not make food out of thin air? We don't know very much about soulcasting yet. I think when we learn more, hopefully in WoR as Jasnah trains Shallan, we will find out what dung can be soulcast into. Besides it does state in Chapter 28 "Decision" on pg 417 what happens to latrine muck. Maybe smoke is the only thing dung can be soulcasted into, or maybe it's the only thing they would want to soulcast it into.
