  1. Well Adolin gets around, and it was only for ten minutes.(Just kidding. I love Adolin, even if he gives the stinkeye to Kaladin.) I hope others do more of these.
  2. Okay, I thought you meant Szeth would hear the story after he was captured and that would cause him to come to a realization that sets him free. If you think the Wandersail is metaphor for Szeth's story arc, you could be right, but I am not convinced. Szeth's path was set in Shinovar. For all we know Cultivation herself put him on this path. If that were the case, his faith would be in something real unlike the people from Hoid's story. So we shall see. Too bad we won't get his story until book three,
  3. I'm not so sure. You are probably right, but I'll leave the option anyway.
  4. Ars Arcanum would be a reason to skip to the end.
  5. Why would that story convince him he had a choice? There is no way to prove to him his faith is wrong. The people saw the corpse of their emperor and knew they were following someone who had long past. I don't think Szeth will see himself in the story like Kaladin did. The story is about taking responsibility for your life, and Szeth already does. His only choice would be to give up his faith and I doubt he would just because he heard a story. Kaladin was ready for that story, and Hoid is great storyteller on many worlds.
  6. Will you skip ahead or read from the beginning?
  7. I don't think the story fits Szeth, because Szeth blames the murders on himself. Where as the people in that story blamed all their murders on the emperor.
  8. That makes two bridgemen, besides Kaladin, who want to kill someone. Moash being the other one. But I'm sure many of the bridgemen were murderers.
  9. A minor character? Nah. I'm too awesome. I should at least be the main character of my own interlude.
  10. I think Kaladin or Teft would have noticed him by now. One the other hand, maybe he was in the bridge crews and left before anyone noticed him.
  11. One of those half shard shields could arrive in Dalinar's camp before Szeth. Then at least Kaladin would have a shield against the shardblade. Besides having a blade and knowing how to use it are two very different things. As much as I dislike what Amaram did he was correct when he said that because he knew how to use a sword he could be skilled with a shardblade. Kaladin has never held a sword in his life. He doesn't have time to learn how to use one before Szeth gets there.
  12. I think it is possible that Kaladin could say the last ideals in this book. Why? Because of Jasnah and Shallan's mission. I guess that some character will need to become enough of a Radiant to open the way. Kaladin seems to be the farthest along. He promised Syl to become a Radiant. Why not do it in this book? He becomes a full Radiant and then he can let Jasnah and Shallan into Urithiru. Of course that is assuming they get there in this book, My guess as to ideal three. "With honor I will lead."
  13. Now I don't remember where heard this and I could be wrong. However, I heard Kaladin will get a second flashback book in the second story arc. So Kaladin and Syl maybe in at least one of those books. Maybe book 6 or 7 will be his second book.
  14. It has not been confirmed, but I agree it is likely that Szeth's blade is an honorblade. Szeth has said it was from Damnation, but that could be his anger at what he does with the blade. Maybe Syl won't have issues with an honorblade but of course this leads to another issue. Kaladin doesn't know how to wield a sword. Despite what Hollywood and some fantasy book lead you to believe, it takes years to learn the proper skills for a sword. Kaladin wielding spear has been described as beautiful and he loves it. Something seems wrong about Kaladin holding any weapon other than a spear. Now, for utilitarian reasons, he might need to take up a blade as a KR because that would be the only way to fight the stone Voidbringers. However, I'd want him to get that sword the same way the KR did. Consider this, when the KR let go of their weapons it did something to those weapons. This might be true of the discarded honorblade as well. Besides Kaladin wouldn't be able to keep the blade. TWoKs page 448 Interlude 6 "A Work of Art."
  15. I think Vin and Elend were there to.
  16. Interesting theory and I upvoted because I too think Shen is in dullform. However, I'm wondering if a spen of some kind killed Gaz. He seemed worried about something like that happening in his POV. I wonder if we will find out who did it in WoR.
  17. Both Syl and Kaladin get bad vibes from shardblades. It may mean nothing or it might be an important clue. And, my memory could be wrong, but Brandon said somewhere that he originally wrote Kaladin making the right decision and then realized it would be better if Kaladin appeared to make the wrong decision and it destroyed his life, then later finds out it was the best decision after all. Maybe it's nothing but as Syl says in TWoKs page 981
  18. Adolin ran into his family's compound. It couldn’t be true. Shallan had only been here one day and she was already kissing someone else. This had to be fastest one of his relationships had fallen apart. Well there was Liss, but that had only lasted ten minutes. Rumors flew claiming Renarin had stolen her. Some people even seemed to prefer the pairing, calling them Shallarin. Shippers were an odd bunch indeed. And Shadolin sounded better. As he turned down the hall to Renarin’s sleeping quarters, he saw his brother standing outside his room alone. “How could you do this to me?” Renarin blinked. “Do what?” “I only just met her today.” “What are you talking about?” “I know about you and my Brightlady.” Renarin blushed. “Feather is your Brightlady? What about Shallan?” Feather? “Who is Feather?” Renarin’s blush deepened. “Never mind. What about Shallan?” “I heard she ran off here to your room with you.” Renarin shrugged. “I haven’t even met the girl. Have you lost another one already?” Adolin groaned. “Well if she didn’t come here with you then where is she?” A giggle came from behind Renarin’s door. The brothers looked at each other. “After you,” Adolin said. Renarin opened the door and Shallan was in the room with a one armed Herdazian. The two grinned sheepishly. Shallah’s free hand partly covered her mouth, while her safe hand scandalously touched his stump of a shoulder. “Sorry, Gancho,” the Herdazian said, “But a one armed Herdazian is twice as good a kisser as a two armed, thin lipped Alethi.” “Truth!” Pattern said as he rolled over Shallan’s head.
  19. There has been talk of a shardspear. He might receive a blade eventually, but something is wrong with the current blades, even the one Szeth carries. I guess we will see. He doesn't need it now though. The Listeners aren't made out of rock, neither are his human enemies.
  20. As much as Kaladin loves the spear, could he ever get rid of it? Why must Kaladin have a blade of some kind?
  21. True, but something must have happened. We know very little about Renarin. It could have been anything. Honestly, the only reason we know he is a possible surgebinder is because he sees a spren, and we really only know that from Brandon and not so much from the text. There is one place in TWoKs that could be evidence of the Spren, but it is vague.
  22. Well, maybe not the sickness itself, but that fact that it makes him physically weak. Considering he is the son of a hero in a warrior culture, I'm sure there have been many times he was emotionally kicked down and trod upon by his peers. Renarin hides his emotions, most likely so when people degrade him to his face he doesn't want to show them how much it hurts. I hope we get Renarin's POV in WoR. That would be interesting.
  23. In Mistborn Marsh Snapped because of his Mother's death and Kelser did not. He snapped later when his wife was murdered. Not everyone is broken by a parent's death. I don't think Adolin was broken because, well... he acts like a young stupid kid. That isn't a bad thing. Many normal twenty year old men act the same way. Go check out a fraternity on a college campus to prove this. It just proves he is normal. That doesn't mean he didn't love his mother. It might mean family was so supportive of him through that time that such an event didn't break him. Dalinar is an awesome dad to even his niece and nephew. I could see him helping Adolin get through that event. Or maybe the Old magic had something to do with it. I do think the blood sickness is the reason Renarin is broken.
  24. He already gave his plate to Renarin. TWoKs page 960. Dalinar speaking to Elhokar after trading his blade to Sadeas.
