  1. I'm on mobile right now, so I will keep this short. I trust Joe's claim. I meant to tie up the vote yesterday, but I got distracted. Haven't done too much analysis, so I won't place a vote right now. I'll be more active two days from now.
  2. I wasn't sure if I wanted to reveal it, but Elodin is also on Threnody with myself and Conquestor. I'm not sure how I feel about blowing up planets. In a purely RP sense, that would probably destroy millions of lives. Not sure that's the greatest idea. The other problem I see with it is PMs. Right now, we have 7 planets. Since he has a Conversion ability, I doubt Hoid started off with more than one follower. That means there are probably 5 planets that don't have his minions on them. We want to have places to talk without people listening in. Already in Threnody, there's been discussions of a role-swap. We don't want Hoid knowing that information. By eliminating a planet, we dramatically increase the likelihood that the 17th shard has infiltrated that world. In addition it also functions as a role-block. We need to redistribute the shards, so Hoid can't track where they are. Role-blocking that action seems extremely harmful in this game. PMs are a useful tool, and getting rid of them this early seems like a waste.
  3. Sam remained silent. It wasn't in his nature to talk very much. He was a lookout by trade, and being quiet in that position was essential. After most of his bandit party had betrayed itself, he remained weary of any outside interference. Unfortunately, this meant he had to speak. "Zephrer" He didn't know the man, and he doubted any of the others did. Still, they needed @Zephrer to talk. It would be too easy to hide amidst the shadows. He looked out of the cave mouth. The shades were restless once again. It was time for him to watch once again. The fate of the cosmere might depend on it.
  4. Well, I'm glad everyone showed up. Even if Joe might be an Eliminator, I'm glad his pokes worked. The game is more fun when everyone participates. This lynch has divided the town into two camps. On the one hand, we have the people voting for Joe, who are Nyali, Stick, and Orlok. On the other side, we have 3 people voting for me, Joe, Kipper, and Kynedath. And then there's me, voting for Kipper. In response to his post, no it isn't that great of evidence. None of use have that good of evidence. However, it's some of the best evidence I've come across. Having a town-read on an eliminator isn't suspicious when they are not revealed. When they are revealed, however, it paints the post in an entirely different light. In addition, because I trust Nyali, your suspicion of her cycle 3 seems slightly unfounded. It's not a smoking gun, but it is something that we need to consider. I've never been the best at finding eliminators. I don't think any of us are particularly good at it. However, I stick to my suspicions, and I hope for the best. This cycle may not be the finale of the game, but it will be pivotal. We only have 7 people voting. If 2 active villagers die, then that will almost certainly be game over. We simply won't have the votes to combat the assassins. That's why I have to retract my vote on Kipper, and put my vote on Joe. I'm extremely paranoid that the eliminators are playing us like fiddles, and we are having a contest between two villagers. That's why I put my vote on Kipper. He was flying under the radar after saying something I felt was extremely suspicious. He is still my biggest lead for an eliminator. So I am disappointed that I have to vote on Joe. I keep going back and forth on him, and I would much rather lynch Kipper instead. However, I know I am a villager. Leaving it at a 50-50 chance is simply too risky for the village at this point. There is a chance that Joe isn't evil. That I've made a critical error. I apologize if that is the case. I understand why you would lynch me if Joe turns out to be innocent. I am desperately hoping that is not the case. If Joe is innocent, I doubt that I could swing the vote to someone else. I will be lynched next cycle, should that occur. At that point, the village will lose. We simply won't have the votes needed to win. So this is my final gambit. I hope I've made the right choice.
  5. Joe, I'm getting really contradictory vibes from you. I understand that I'm suspicious. I voted for 2 villagers, and I defended an Eliminator. It would be weird if I wasn't suspicious. It's true that I didn't defend myself. That's because I couldn't. I was operating under the flawed assumption that the Eliminators weren't trying to save Elenion, and so I assumed that Elenion must have been a villager. Obviously, that was inaccurate. At the time, I wasn't sure what to make of Elenion, so I tried going after another target. That was why I didn't vote for Arinian, as I felt the same thing was happening. I didn't defend him though, because I was worried I was making the same mistake twice. That part of your post makes me think you are a villager, albeit a misguided one. However, your suspicion of Nyali makes no sense. She's probably the person I suspect the least! While I know there is always the possibility of busing, I find it highly unlikely that an eliminator would vote for her teammate twice. She was the second one to vote for Elenion on Cycle 3, and she kept her vote on after Kasimir retracted. That reads extremely village to me. So I'm really confused as to where this suspicion is coming from. Then I saw this post: This is the first post I found of people expressing suspicion of Nyali, and it reads extremely evil. He's defending Elenion outright! I didn't know what Elenion was, so I avoided that issue. Kipper, however, believed that Elenion was innocent. That's why I'm suspicious of you. Your suspicion of Nyali seems to have come from this post, which reeks of eliminator to me. I think Kipper is our best bet for an Eliminator, and I urge you all to vote for him. Also, Joe have your 5 coins back. I don't want them.
  6. So people stop asking, here's a vote tally: Kynedath (1): Sart Arinian (4): Stick, Burnt, Magestar, Joe Sart (1): Kipper This feels too easy, but that line of logic got me into trouble last cycle. We are also going to lose people to turnover if they don't post. @OrlokTsubodai @JUQ @STINK you are in danger of being inactive. Please come on. If one of the eliminators is inactive, it would explain why they aren't able to combat this train. I should review over the thread, now that I'm on break.
  7. Yeah... I'm pretty embarrassed by that one. I got too paranoid, and thought that the obvious suspects couldn't be right, because they were too obvious. Still, this nets us several nearly confirmed villagers, and some good suspects. I'll place my vote on Kynedath right now. It's nothing personal, but now that we know that Elenion was evil, it makes his participation in the Ecth lynch more suspicious. Hopefully he responds, but if he doesn't, we should let the inactivity filter take him, and vote for another candidate.
  8. Vote Count: Stink (1): Elenion Elenion (3): Magestar, Nyali, Stick, Joe Stick (0): Arinian Nyali (1): Kipper Joe (2): Sart, Arinian Sart (0): JUQ Arinian (1): Rae
  9. This is why the village has such trouble winning. Watch and lurk? The whole village is watching and lurking! We have had ten people post in this thread. Only half of them have voted. I find it highly unlikely that all of those lurkers are Eliminators. Therefore, I urge those villagers watching and lurking to vote. That is the only way we catch Eliminators. Not voting will kill us. Eliminators are incentivized to vote, as they know who they need to kill. If Elenion was truly an Eliminator, we should have seen more votes. I doubt his teammates would rush to lynch him, and Kipper's vote isn't counting. That only leaves 2 votes, one of whom is Elenion's! There's no effort to save Elenion, which means that the Eliminators are fine with him dying. Considering how many people we have lost, I doubt they are sacrificing one of their own in order to get trusted. Thus, I very highly suspect that Elenion is a villager. Moreover, since Eliminators are more likely to vote, it seems highly likely to me that at least one of them has voted this cycle. I doubt it is Elenion, for reasons I have already stated. I also doubt that it is Kipper, as he knows that votes have to be in red to count. I have already expressed my suspicion of Stick before, so I'm not surprised Arinian is voting for him, as he is following my argument. Joe, your argument against him is frankly unfounded. Here's what you keep quoting: Let me rephrase that: "I am suspicious of Stick, but if Stick is village, then I would be suspicious of Sart." That's not bad logic. I've already been wrong once with my vote on Cloudjumper. It would make sense to be suspicious of me if I was wrong a second time. Yet you are claiming that he should skip a step, and just vote for me. He's doubting his judgement today, but he is trusting his previous intuition. That reads village to me. Later on, you ask: How the heck is it suspicious that two people are voting for different people? I didn't know how to feel about Elenion until 3 people suddenly voted for him, and nobody bothered to defend him. Joe, you immediately jumped to the conclusion that Arinian was trying to save Elenion. You are assuming that Elenion and Arinian are working together. I don't think that's a fair conclusion. Arinian is voting because he thinks someone is suspicious! That's normal village behavior, not a grand conspiracy. I'll be honest, my suspicion of Stick has lowered some after last cycle. If he was an Eliminator, they probably would have broken the tie between him and Alvron. However, this has significantly raised my suspicion of you. Retracting your vote on Elenion reeks of an Eliminator not wanting to be accused of joining a bandwagon. Joe, you're my best lead right now.
  10. Then again, it was also a fairly late vote switch on to Cloudjumper. I'm disappointed that he was a villager, as he was my best lead. I was beginning to worry since he wasn't posting, but I suspected that he was lying low to avoid suspicion. Surprisingly, this actually makes me trust Alvron more. If Alvron was an eliminator, his actions make no sense. Suppose Arinian and Alvron are both evil. Then Alvron placing a fourth vote on Arinian endangers his own teammate for no reason. Sure he retracted it, but there wasn't a guarantee that someone else would jump on the Arinian train. On the other hand, suppose Arinian is innocent, and Alvron is evil. Then he had no incentive to switch the vote to Cloud. A last-minute change is generally suspicious, and I don't see eliminator Alvron wanting to draw attention to himself. Therefore, I trust Alvron. This could be totally wrong, obviously, but I'm confident in that assessment. In regards to the lynch, several people have expressed suspicion of Stick, so I'd like to hear her thoughts. I know she's claimed to be playing differently than last game, but she's reading as evil to me this game. On Cycle 1, he didn't do anything other than RP, which isn't bad, but it's a little to easy to hide in the shadows doing that. Then on Cycle 2, she said this: Voting is the only way the village can actually win, so it concerns me when someone says that they won't vote. Voting patterns are key to understanding motivations and lead to finding eliminators when they are inconsistent. In addition, she was extremely defensive when only one vote and a question were directed at her. Sure, she may be posting more, but I don't think her posts have any substance to them. So Stick, please cast a vote on someone. I want to see who you think is suspicious.
  11. I'm going to put a vote on Cloudjumper. He was up for the lynch when he voted on Arinian; however, he failed to mention that in his post. In fact, this is how he voted for Arinian. That seems very suspicious to me. If you're voting to save your life, you need to acknowledge that. Adding a poke vote to someone who already has 2 poke votes is counter-productive. They haven't responded yet, so piling on more votes won't do anything. In addition, Lopen voted on Cloud, and was then killed. It could be a coincidence, but I'd like to see what Cloud has to say on the matter.
  12. Sartinia had a hard time believing that someone could be so innocent. "The Guild we are referring to is the Guild Of Assassins. They always leave a bloody hand-print as their calling card. I'm surprised you don't know that. Then again, you are literally named Innocent, so you might have picked it up without knowing." OOC: Since items were tied to character descriptions, the GM might have made a joke about Innocent having a trademark Assassin item. I'm not sure this is the best grounds for lynching.
  13. Sorry about that. I was trying to reference the fact that you are new to this game in RP. My apologies if I detracted from your character.
  14. "Oh for crying out loud." Sartinia and the others had finally managed to get Arinian out of his room. She was surprised to discover that he was just a kid! While she couldn't discard the possibility, she doubted that someone that young would be an Assassin. She was also beginning to be suspicious of the people who had joined her on the hunt. Did they know how young he was? It troubled her. In addition to Arinian, there were several others that hadn't left their rooms. Namely, Stub-Tail (Alvron) and Galerion (Orlok). They couldn't afford for anyone to hide in the shadows. Come to think of it, didn't someone call Stub-Tail (Alvron) the master of shadows. That seemed like an awfully good assassin name. "Get them out of bed! We need everyone to discuss the murder." Well that, and she didn't want them searching for the treasure without her.
  15. Ugh. Helchon was apparently one of those High Elves. He reminded Sartinia of her father. So, basically, Helchon was a pompous prick. "Okay. First off I am a Lady, not a brother. Get it right. Second off, what do you mean my question has no bearing? How are we supposed to interrogate anyone if we don't have any alibis! We need to figure out who is actually supposed to be here, and who just snuck in." She blithely ignored the fact that it was her father who was supposed to go, but those were minor details. "More important though, is your question about the lynch. Of course there's going to be a lynch. What do you think will happen? We'll all just start a sing-along? One of us is a murderer, and I am not going to let them murder me! We're going to come up with excuses, we're going to argue, but we are going to kill someone tonight. That is not a question. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go gather alibis."
  16. "Huh." Sartinia wasn't exactly sure how to react a dead body. Sure, she had always known it was a possibility. She had smoked enough skooma to know the risks entailed with it. It wasn't surprising to find one of her friends passed out after a party. Hell it even looked the same, except for the blood and all. The poor bastard had the same look on their face. A glass eyed epiphany. She wondered if they saw it coming. Probably not, considering the note. That note could only mean one thing. The Assassin's Guild was here, probably after the treasure. Their target must have found the first puzzle, and was killed to prevent the secret from getting out. So now her strategy had to be two-fold. First, she needed to find what clue the target had found. Considering the way they were facing, the victim must have come from the kitchen. That was where she should start looking first. However, having the treasure wouldn't do her any good if she was just going to get murdered afterwards. She needed to find the murderer, and fast. She doubted there were any clues on the body. This was the work of a professional after all. There were too many people here though. They were all total strangers. She needed names. Some characters had been particularly loud, but others were still a mystery to her. She needed more information. "You there, in the back. What's your name again? Arinian, or something like that? Where were you last night?"
  17. Sartinia impatiently tapped her foot. If they didn't start soon she would have to freeze some people. Not that she was any good at freezing people, but the sentiment was there.
  18. Um... Quick question Meta. What is Eyewall? It's apparently the setting for your next LG, but I can't find anything about it online.
  19. There's another way to work on the problem of overly complex games. We need to be able to review the rule-sets before they are made into sign-up threads. I know the game creation thread is supposed to be for this purpose, but we've gotten away from that. The index of games listed on the thread is more than a year old. Some games are just created privately in docs. That's a huge problem, especially if the GM is new. There's a column on the GM list called Link for a reason. We need to get into the habit of when people sign up, they should include a link to their rule-set so it can be peer-reviewed. Unless there are hidden mechanics, I don't see why this would be an issue, and it indicates that GMs have put some thought into their game, instead of just having a vague concept.
  20. I'll sign up as Sartinia, a high elf who has fallen on hard times.
  21. This seems pretty cut and dry to me. Jondesu. He tried to save a teammate without mentioning said teammate by name. In the post voting on Aman, he didn't even mention Doc by name, even though Doc was leading the votes at the time. He then goes to PMs asking people to untie the vote. He asked for people to vote for Aman, again ignoring who was actually in first place. Alvron saved us by breaking the tie in favor of Doc. Then Jondesu claims that Aman is still an Eliminator. That's ludicrous. Would an Eliminator risk a tie in that situation, and have two Nobles die? There's no way that happens. Further, do you really think we got lucky enough to lead the lynch on two eliminators day one? That's highly unlikely. Even if we did, Doc would have tried to move it to a third party. Honestly, Aman is one of the few people I trust, which sucks because he is busy with real life. I firmly believe Jondesu is a noble. That being said, Jondesu is going to get lynched today. Therefore, we need to pivot to who we're voting on next cycle. I think we need to talk to Ecth III. He's been acting really suspicious lately. Everyone's noticed it, but a lot of people are thinking he is a jester. I don't believe that explanation. I think he's pretending to be a jester, in order to avoid suspicion. In that light, his actions make sense. That's why he is voting on Rae right now. He's trying to draw suspicion away from his teammate, Jondesu. Since there is a small chance that he is a Jester, I urge all Coinshots to shoot Ecth III. If my hunch is right, and he is evil, we will be in fantastic shape. There's probably five eliminators, so killing three in the first two cycles will be a fatal blow. If Ecth is a jester, there's no problem. We've just gotten rid of a source of misinformation. If Ecth is a villager, I'll be surprised, and wonder why he was so erratic. To make sure this plan succeeds, I urge all Rioters to stay home. We don't want a kill going haywire. I'm aware the Eliminators might have one, but that's a risk we're going to have to take.
  22. I realized my vote was misplaced this morning, but I only had a chance to review the thread. Let me change that for you. Elbereth. Nyali
  23. Well, let's do a vote count: Lopen (2): Orlok, Ecth Ecth (4): Lopen, Elb, Ripple, Nyali To play devil's advocate for a second, let's look at what Ecth has done. She voted for Lopen as soon as Lopen posted. She claimed that his role recommendations were suspicious. She tried to link it to Aman's playstyle, which isn't a very convincing argument. However, she did pull up quotes from when Lopen was evil. In that game Lopen was neutral, so the comparison isn't entirely sound. She's trying to say that advice for roles doesn't contribute much, and is suspicious. I think she's reading into this too much. I've seen villagers and eliminators post strategies that supposedly help the town. I don't think that indicates alignment either way. In addition, Lopen was doing the right thing by responding to Orlok's post vote with actual game advice. That's better than just saying, "Here!" That being said, I don't think Ecth is an Eliminator for two main reasons. First, she made a mistake about the game. I'm not claiming that Eliminators are infallible, but I believe they wait longer to post, and double check that everything is correct. They don't want their manipulation thrown out on a technicality. They also take their time, in case their rashness makes it obvious that their logic is flawed. That's why I was surprised she called out Clanky. Second, no one has defended her. She's gotten four votes in a short span, which should have caused a reaction if she was on a team. However, I haven't seen a single post that isn't expressing some suspicion of her. That strikes me as odd. Elims are generally more active than Villagers, so not having a single defense is concerning. I especially didn't like Elbereth's argument. How is voting for someone that has a poke vote on him supposed to start a lynch train? I understand your vote is mostly for information gathering, but it seems like a stretch.
