You must be king. Of everything. That way, I can go to all the feasts and dances, you see, and the ladies will watch me and think, look, perhaps he has one arm, but he glows and he is the good friend of the king of everything. We should all marry him for his success and money, even if that is just an excuse because he is so handsome that I would marry him if he lived in an alley, see?

Long Game 3: Blackwater Village
Swimmingly replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lents prodded the body with a metal clad arm, in several places. No clinks of metal on metal, no suspicious bulges. Not even any damned earrings. So, probably not Spiked, an Inquisitor, or another agent of the Empire than. Lents carefully removed several poisoned clay fragments from the base of the man's neck, whacked the corpse in several places with a sledgehammer that had a horseshoe welded on the head, and settled into a steady run back to Blackwater, shiny pants assisting each bound. Time to inform Joe about his cousin's unfortunate demise. How Lents had been going for a moonlight stroll and just found him there - dead! Trampled by a horse, must be. Yeeeeeeeessssss.- 739 replies

Sounds more like an exchange of Luck for immortality, to me.

...cooooooouuuuuunnnnnting down the hooooooouuuuuurrrrrs. The extended vowels represent my observation of distending spacetime as x (representing my position) approaches YES (representing midnight EST). The lower the value of delta(Yes, x), the slower time seems to move.

Our condolences on the "death of a family friend's parent" who was "extremely dear to your heart". We hope you "recover from your grief soon" and can find room for work/school in your life again. -
We all know what you did, Peet. We. Know. Everything!

Yeah. It does make for some poor storytelling. It's a fair enough shorthand though - as pterry says, a lie to help you see the truth better.

It's not as bad as you think, really. Though I prefer the text for various reasons.

Lawful good, I think actually, but leaning towards Neutral given why he does what he does.

Stormlight healing? Seriously, Sanderson, she was a great character. Maybe she pulls a Kelsier and goes ghosty?

The thing about this is that if you post the transcripts, it defeats the purpose. I can think of a very human-based way for this to work. Edit: which is forbidden by the rules, never mind.

Under that model, wouldn't burning Atium actually return the power back to Ruin? That always baffled me.

Certain Hints from Sanderson
Swimmingly replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Finding foreshadowing in Brandon's books seems as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. That's when you pick them up and they're all red herrings. -
If that's not true, it should be. That's how awesome this idea is.

This is more to do with Scadrial than Roshar, but shouldn't a single planet in two-body system have perfectly stable LG points, because you don't have any moons or other planets throwing off the balance? So the fact that the LG points on Scadrial aren't filled with debris should indicate that Scadrial isn't alone in it's star system? Of course, during the Final Empire, the sky was filled with ash and none of the main characters in AoL seem very astronomically inclined, so...

Some things do slip through however.

Miles was....a special case. By which I mean, a bloody lunatic.

Other option is that KR naturally have extended lifespan, so the majority of surviving characters that were Surgebinders stay alive.

Certain Hints from Sanderson

It's called foreshadowing. Fun tool, isn't it? -
You certainly wouldn't be the sole guilty party if you had been

I assume gemstones work for the same reason that metals do on Scadrial - the Investiture of a Shard/Shards has modified their Cog, Spiritual, and Physical identities to accommodate the magic system. In the case of Roshar, the gems may also be created through the magic system, so there's that as well. Remember, this is fantasy - no matter how well-thought out the ideas, they can generally find their root in seven words: It Sure Would Be Really Cool If...And that's all right. When you get down to it, gems are magical and glass is not because that makes for a more interesting, coherent story - and the story always comes first.
