Though that seems odd, considering that you can presumably get to other systems by walking over the surface of Shadesmar... Though the topology of the place may be a little screwy, given that it's a different dimension, sort of. Maybe the "sun's" position in the sky is directly proportional to your distance from the points that its arc intersects the surface of Rosharian Shadesmar, so that if you go to those points, the topology just twists and sends you walking in a new direction, through the emptyness towards the new planet - these could be the Nexuses.

Connection between Roshar and Scadrial
Swimmingly replied to Shadowspren's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Kaladin with his greater capacity for stormlight and a flute Szeth can't stop vs. Szeth with his Shardblade and experience? Sounds good -

Perhaps it can't be affected by Surges? -

What is the Realmatic significance of an object with different Investiture than the world around it? -
In an entirely unrelated note, inspired by the idea of anal sodium, can Mistings use metals from suppositories? I apologize everyone.

Connection between Roshar and Scadrial

Ohhh... I wonder what the significance of that is. For one thing, I wonder if trees even grow natively on Roshar -
Why would it have resulted in the world ending? I don't get it

The Shardbearer that Kaladin Killed Used a Surge - Theory
Swimmingly replied to Natans's topic in Stormlight Archive
How do we know that the glyphs are required as a symptom of surgebinding in shardplate? Perhaps they only manifest in full KR, so you can tell the masters from the novices - we just don't know yet... -
I wonder if the diamonds are actually a signifier of rank or position; the three diamonds might mean "field agent" for instance.

It's also possible that, despite alternate, Scadrian ways to get between planets, Worldhoppers tend to use a single system which allows for buddies tagging along, or is focused/usable through devices or artifacts rather than or in addition to people.

Can spren fight eachother? and random questions
Swimmingly replied to Maresia's topic in Stormlight Archive
But a moving Spiritual rent able to open latent gateways and trigger true dreams and visions of the past is likely to cause some disturbance; if only because it affects so much. People get afraid, stones and ripped, houses are rent, grass is swept - things notice. Perhaps you would need to be an Elsecaller or Lightweaver to tell, but I think you definetly could. -
Theory: Mistings CAN use every single Allomantic ability.

I want Dor powered Lashings. Yes. -
It seems to me that the guys with ST and Pressure are basically improvisation extrordinaire. Got a rock and a rope? No, it's a ten-foot pole with a rock on and you're clubbing people with it. Two pieces of cloth? You mean these rigid handholds you can use like climbing claws? Opponent wearing cloth clothes? It seems that they're glowing gently and rigid as a rock suddenly. You could even have a fabric weapon, if you wanted to be a badass. On the other hand, surface tension might do just that: allow you to make liquids into a rubbery but firm running surface, or make the air coalesce into hard armour.

I think he's actually mentioned that he may just put that kinda stuff up on his website in the future, given that it would make no sense to new readers. Maybe Peter could chime in as to the zeitgeist on that?

Or have a master archer and a bunch of novices - you could get have the master archer's arrow straightening the course of all the the other ones and increasing accuracy. very expensive, but whatever.

Sorry about the double post, but the topics are different enough I consider it justified. I believe the black sphere may have served as some kind of lock against the Everstorm. Removing it from its former position, perhaps beneath the Shattered Plains, set off the string of events such as Dalinar's visions, the formation of Surgebinders, etc. It was kept in a place sacred to the Parshendi that big G entered during his explorations; the Parshendi only knew that entering the place where the sphere was kept would result in the return of their gods, not knowing about the sphere itself. As a last-ditch attempt, they killed G, hoping that would help. Of course, perhaps moving it only weakened the lock. I wonder what shattering it would do...? It's funny how much we expect from Team Sanderson; look at Pat Rothfuss and George R. R. Martin - either one of them releasing at half the rate Brandon does would still be a miracle.

Superspeed vibrations within a radius of about 4 feet and conditional invincibility; I don't ignore friction and air resistance - I can just throw enough energy into the equation to negate it, and the invincibility protects me from the forces I throw around; I can move quickly enough to make a nuclear explosion for example. My invincibility can't protect me from solid objects, however, though I spend most of my time vibrating at a rate that knocks bullets away. This manifests as a loud roar around me, punctuated with flashes of light and things spontaneously shattering. I leave crumbled ground behind me when it's on. My weakness is extreme claustrophobia. If I'm in any building, even a stadium, without an open ceiling, my powers turn off. For this reason, I never get near a city if I can help it. If I can't help it, I blow it up. My name is Burnout. Before Calamity, I was a fairly successful ex-Navy architect. I served in a nuclear submarine during my years of service, then went back to college for residential architecture.

My impression with the spanreeds was that they could only move very light objects. Now, your idea could work easily with the knife trick, but I think it would be best to use a very sharp needle hidden behind a paper barrier. One application I can definetly see is having an archer firing a light arrow spanreed fabrial, with another guiding it with its pair. That might work a little better.

Which is Kal's hometown!

I wonder if we're going to be seeing warriors armed and armoured exclusively with contemporary fabritech. Maybe an actual assassin-type, with those pain knives turned up to the point that a scrape with it kills you with a heart attack.
-
I wonder if we're ever going to have primitive fabrial computers - a device that can respond to different commands, for instance.

Well, besides a guy who can blow rocks up with his hands, a lady who can heal a violently repositioned lung, and a dude that can fly, future sight/accelerated movement can be a little underwhelming. I mean, cool, you just moved ten yards faster than I can move ten inches, but get a load of that dude that just sent an entire squad of unholy terrors thrashing and wheeling into the sky.

The other option is this: drawing in Stormlight is an instinctual act, which differs only a little bit between orders; moreover, immediately after drawing it in, you're charged with magic and able to access powers beyond comprehension. Ususally, you're also about to fight for your life. The exact part of you which is touching an infused gem when you suck the power from it will only be relevant in situations where Stormlight is scarce, and any two Surgebinders meeting up for drinks probably have more exciting things to talk about. Imagine: "I have to inhale to get my Stormlight," says Kaladin. "See this garnet I'm holding, here? I can use it to change your blood type, making your body reject it. It would be a rather painful death,"says Shallan. "Well, look at that lovely sky there," says Kaladin. "Be a shame to fall into it, wouldn't it?" And the topic is forgotten.

Also, it's the name of a popular blimpunk book by Kenneth Oppel.
