  1. This is what I meant to ask about. Is there a timeframe in which you have to declare this? Say in the first 12 or 24 hours of the day? Because triggering it at 1 hour before the day ends to make sure a certain person who had any number of votes that was more than you died would be a bit broken Fun perhaps, but broken.
  2. That is a very clever insight and very useful feedback By making it so that everyone could do something at night I made it seem more like everyone should be able to do something of reasonable significance every night and as a result people felt less empowered when all they could do was search for breath. Some new players who don't have a role always feel like they have little to do but this setup probably made that worse. Psychology is an interesting beast. You all see now why I was excited about that last night =)
  3. The lifeless army is nowhere near as large as it was before the events of warbreaker, but the Hallandrens have been gradually building it up again. I do find it interesting that the "devout" Idrians seem to want control of the lifeless abominations. Wait what? Someone suggested two reasonable/sensible ideas that equally benefited both sides?! Anyway, 8 hours left to submit proposals. Yeah I am still around. I'm just trying to catch up on Uni work.
  4. I forgot to put the bunnies in the writeup Noooooooooo! That works fine as a proposal btw.
  5. Wrap-up Thanks for playing everyone, I've had a blast running it Congratulations to the Idrians for their victory! There was some very clever plotting and scheming from all sides. Props to Aonar's group for successfully identifying so many PK, to nard1993 for a kill streak of 4 PK and to Wilson for being an incredibly sneaky and manipulative PK. 6. Negotiations Aili stepped out of the Red Salmon and into the empty street. She smiled grimly, Aodan was dead, and she knew who was to blame. There would be justice for him some day, but not today. She knew what she had to do, it was time to finally end this nightmare. She stopped in the middle of the street as the door to the Green Potato opposite opened and Dainard emerged. Seeing Aili standing there he walked across and stood facing her. There was a stark contrast between the two. Aili was resplendent in her best gown, her features the epitome of beauty and the colours around her shining brightly from her incredible biochromatic aura. Her white gown threw rainbows chasing across her body and the surrounding street in the rays of the rising sun. Dainard was dressed simply in a rough brown tunic and trousers and sturdy leather boots. He carried Cuddles openly now, hanging at his side from the simple leather belt he wore. The two couldn't have been more different, except for the look in their eyes as they faced eachother. Each understood the other perfectly, both would do whatever was best for their own people. They had worked together for a time, they might even have called eachother friend someday. But their people came first, and Dainard had betrayed Aili and Aodan. As they stood there the few surviving Idrians and Hallendrens came from their houses and rooms and stood with them. Sifa, Cen and Rowan stood behind Aili and Rick, Bart and Jim Bob Dirt stood behind Dainard. With a cough, and an apologetic glance at Dainard, Jim crossed the street to stand behind Aili. They stood there silently as the sun rose in the sky until finally Aili gave a brief nod and together they turned and walked toward Wil'son's store. Wil'son sat on the front step, waiting for them. She opened her eyes and smiled up at them as they arrived. The mask she had worn concealing her emotions was gone and hatred burned brightly in her eyes. “Haven't killed eachother yet?” she asked, voice dripping contempt. “You have been found guilty of murder and we have come to enact your sentence.” Aili declared, then added out of spite, “You have failed.” “Failed?” Wil'son asked, “No. Swimim, Dyrii, Grim, Thomas, Cog, Sart,” Wil'son rose to her feet as she spoke. “Gammer, Ben, Ver and Aodan. You killed them, not us. We barely had to murder Vard and Fron and you leaped at eachother. We know who the real monsters are here!” Face red with anger Rick stepped forward and swung his fist into Wil'son's jaw, snapping her head back and knocking her to the ground. He stepped forward and kicked her in the chest. As he raised his foot to kick Wil'son again Aili laid a restraining hand on his shoulder. He shoved her hand away growling “Get off me heathen!” but he lowered his foot and stepped back to the others. Wil'son lifted her head from the ground and spat a mouthful of blood to the side then chuckled weakly. “So violent, so angry.” She gasped through her cracked ribs, “This peace won't last a year. You have caused your own downfall.” She gestured to the sword at Dainard's waist. “We didn't even need to use Cuddles, we supplied the tool and you leaped at the chance to slaughter each-other.” She gave another laugh that quickly turned into a hacking cough. Aili glanced at Dainard who stepped forward, drawing Cuddles. He held the smoking sword high, then brought it down. Wil'son smiled as the sword descended and welcomed Cuddle's deadly embrace. Dainard turned to face the surviving Idirans and Hallandrens, "Time to talk." __________________________________________________________________________________________ Thus ends the main part of game 4. Negotiations will now begin in this thread. Players can now freely discuss the game and reveal any information they wish in the wrap-up thread. (Which will be up shortly.) This thread will be for the negotiations. This should be interesting. The negotiations will consist of the surviving players (including Sart) and will have in two phases. In the first phase every surviving player can put forward 1-2 proposals for the future. These proposals shouldn't be too general or ridiculous "All Hallendrens must obey anything an Idrian tells them." would be too far. However, "The use of lifeless will be outlawed." is perfectly acceptable. Anyone can suggest modifications to a proposal but it is up to the person who proposed it to decide if they want to adjust it. I will approve proposals and form a list at the end of the phase. The second phase will be a voting phase. Each surviving player has 10 votes which they can split between the proposals as they see fit. They could throw all their votes behind a single proposal if they wished. Votes can also be made against proposals, at the end of the phase if a proposal has more votes for it than against it it will become a part of the treaty. In the case of proposals that directly oppose eachother they will be placed against eachother and players can cast votes for either one (rather than casting votes against one). At the end of the phase whichever proposal has more votes will be passed. If it is a tie neither will be passed. Once a vote is cast it cannot be retracted. Any questions? To be absolutely clear the players involved in the negotiations are: Hallandrens Dainard Rick Bartbug Sart Idrians Aili Rowan Cen Sifa Jim Bob Dirt Phase 1 begins and will end at 23:30 AEST / 13:30 GMT on Monday. Make sure you get all proposals in before that time.
  7. I just checked, he mentioned that he was in WA in the Pahn Kahl doc in Sanderson Elimination. I was pretty certain I had been remembering right.
  8. Hey guys. Given the forgone conclusion of today's events there is little point waiting through the full day so I will end it earlier than normal. That still won't be for another ~9 hours. Largely just cos I won't have time till then. (So basically the day will be cut in half). If anyone has a problem with this just say so
  9. I figure I might as well upload a profile pic sized version of the final empire allomantic table nard1993 and I made. And here would be the place to do it.
  10. Wait wait wait. When did you become a surgebinder?! I missed the change ='(
  11. Heh, nard is a friend of my irl. Kadrok is in QLD, I think el_warko was in WA and I dunno where Delighful is. I'm sure there has to be other active Australians here too.
  12. I forgot you had passed the 10th heightening :/ Oh well. If I remember right you got most of your breath during the day anyway. Returned do not have an advantage in the negotiations. Nor does heightening have any effect. It's just fairer that way. When this day ends I will make 2 topics, one for the negotiations that I would ask that dead players don't post in, and one for the wrap-up where I will post links to the Actions, details and PK docs and we can discuss how the game went and the rules etc
  13. Day 9: Ate Brace yourself. I went a bit overboard again. But I think tonight's actions really demand it. Summon stood on the roof of the two story building staring out into the night. A figure stood beside him, a black sword leaning against the roof of the building before them. “Can we trust them?” the figure asked. Summon thought before answering, thinking over their plans and trying to find any flaws. “No,” he replied at last, “We can't. But they won't betray us yet, they are even more desperate than we are and this is their only chance. They'll follow the plan tonight, but we may have to deal with them tomorrow.” The figure nodded, “It's not like we have much choice, I'll be damned if I'll let the Idrians walk all over us once this is over. Time to get moving.” The figure took the sword and left the roof leaving Summon to contemplate the dark town in silence. --- Aodan crept through the night, a rope coiled around his arm and a dagger on his belt. He was a little nervous, his job tonight was of the utmost importance. He felt confident that he could manage it, though he was far less certain about his own safety. He knew that the last Pahn Kahl desperately wanted him dead, he also knew that the Hallandren's were far from happy with the amount of influence he had in the town and his sources had confirmed that they might come for him tonight. Depending on who came for him he might have a chance, albeit a slim one. He reached the corner where the Red Salmon sat and peaked round their corner. There was his target, coming this way as predicted. When the figure reached the corner Aodan leaped out, knocking them to the ground. Moving quickly he took the rope from his arm and dropped it on the figure. Breathing out and commanding “Hold things.” He watched with satisfaction as the rope coiled around the figure, holding them fast. He briefly considered using the dagger on his belt but decided against it. There was still a chance that he was wrong and he didn't want to risk killing another innocent. Better to wait for tomorrow when they would know for certain. As Aodan stood to leave he saw another figure walking down the street towards him. They made no attempt at stealth. Aodan tensed, then rose and walked towards them leaving the bound figure behind. If they were here to kill him running would be useless. Aodan stopped walking several paces from the figure who followed suit. They held the sword in its sheath casually in one hand, there was no mistaking the black handle and scabbard even without the mixed feeling of horror and adoration he felt whenever it was near. “So,” Aodan said, “You have chosen your side.” The figure snorted, “You knew my allegiances when we started working together. The Pahn Kahl were a threat to us all, but I will not allow your people to oppress mine. Hallandren will come out on top in these negotiations and the Idrians will stay in their rightful place.” “This isn't about petty differences, this is about avoiding a war!” Aodan replied. The figure shook their head, “You always said that you didn't care who came off better in the negotiations, so long as a war was averted. But your people outnumber mine here now and even if you kept to your word the other Idrians would not. Once we take out the Idrian leadership in its entirety the others will be far more manageable.” Aodan backed up a step “You shouldn't be carrying that sword. It's changing you, adjusting your perceptions. Can't you see that you are doing what they want? Hallandrens killing Idrians, your even working with them now!” The figure put their hand on Cuddles hilt as they stepped forward. “No. We are using them, once we have restored balance we will kill them too. The sword isn't changing me, it empowers me. Endows me with the ability to change things for the better.” Aodan yanked his dagger from his belt and threw it at the figure. It was a pitiful effort and the figure easily evaded it. They drew Cuddles and rushed forward as black smoke poured from the blade. Aodan had promised himself that he would be brave, that he would face his death with courage. But faced with that darkness his will broke and he tried to run. Aodan barely got 5 steps before the figure reached him and brought the sword down. Aodan's cried out in terror then cut off as the warm embrace of the sword enveloped him. --- Summon heard a footstep and spoke without turning, “Is it done?” The soft footfalls approached and a voice replied, “Yes. She won't be a problem for either of us anymore.” Summon let out a sigh of relief and sorrow. It had been necessary, but he took no pleasure in his part of this plan. “With them both gone we stand a chance. I had my doubts about you, but together we can still do this. We just need to...” Summon cut off as the footsteps suddenly sped up. He turned to face the figure but was too late to react as they rushed into him, knocking him over the edge of the roof to the streets below. He landed hard, there was a loud crack as bones broke and his vision went white. Summon's vision gradually cleared and, struggling to stay concious, he watched as the figure scrambled down the drain pipe and fell the last couple of feet to the ground with a soft thump. They walked forward and stood over him. “You should have known better.” Summon gasped through the pain, “You can't take them all. They will find you and they will tear you to pieces in the town square. They will make you suffer for the innocents you have murdered.” The figure responded in an intense whisper, “Innocents? The men and women who conquered and suppressed my people? This Summon, this is justice.” the anger blazed in their eyes and Summon saw the hint of madness concealed there. Why oh why hadn't he seen it sooner. The figure rose and stepped around to the side, forcing Summon to twist his head to keep them in sight. “You are right though. I cannot kill them all. I've known that for some time now.” They knelt down next to Summon's head, “But it doesn't matter.” Summon's confusion must have shown on his face as the figure explained. Their tone was quiet and calm and carried the weight of inevitability “You see, tonight was the tipping point. Before now the murders could all have been attributed to us or to genuine mistakes. But now? Everyone will know that a Hallandren murdered Aodan. The Idrians will be angry, they will impose greater restrictions and indignities on Hallendrens and your people won't stand for it.” The figure shook their head, “The treaty will not hold. It might not be for some time, both of us will be long dead, but the war will come.” The figure drew a dagger and placed it at Summon's throat. “Now,” they said, almost gently “say the words, give me your breath.” Summon struggled mutely, but his broken body could barely move and the effort brought tears of pain to his eyes. “You are dying.” The figure said, “But you still have a choice over how you die. You could have a quick death, or it could be slow and very painful. Give me your breath, save yourself the pain.” “Never.” Summon croaked. The figure sighed, “I believe you.” they said, then slit his throat. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Aodan was an Idrian Monk Summon was a Hallandren Awakener Day 9 begins and will end at 23:30 AEST / 13:30 GMT on Sunday. 14. I live in Melbourne, Australia. I didn't bother mentioning before because it is on the first page of one of the threads I linked. I know that Delightful, el_warko, nard1993 and Kadrok are all Australians too. (I haven't looked back through the where are you from threads as you are going to need to do that anyway so there isn't much point. A quick search found several other Aussies who don't post much and may well be inactive: Lifeb4death, wlmkfi, EyeCee, VanquisherR, no1saint, Dutch Wives, Kalystia, dj26792 and Sh3prd Here is a good thread to find some who are in the UK From a quick look: Sabrina Stormshard, Nepene, Jit, illsmithyourbonds, Branf, FireArcadia, Havoc, Cromptj, The Count, Semtextual, Ria Raen, Helvesa, Lopen Skybreaker, Maths, Maffu17. Ok I'm done for now. So a few new names for your list.
  15. Of course Uncertain if you've seen that, but if you hadn't you kinda needed too =)
  16. Dang right it is I have been invested with the shard of Narration! Fear my plot hooks! tecslicer also deserves mention on that list as the head Admin. We are always happy to welcome new players and aside from the colour scheme (and the occasional plot point) it isn't really that dark a recess.
  17. Well, we haven't had a list before. Here and here are the previous threads regarding where members are from. And this makes 3 threads of this general nature : P But hey, it's a list! And we learn a little more each time.
  18. Yeah. Writeup in ~7 hours. It's gonna be an interesting one.
  19. I am Claincy Clancy Clan Caan Ffnord dangit this just keeps getting harder. I am Fnorf! A fairly low ranked lighteyes who is a sergeant in Sebarial's mostly unused mercenary army. It's semi symmetric too! One comment for now on the rules. The ghostbloods are very likely to have gained a soulcaster and a shardblade by the time they outnumber the lighteyes. The fewer people there are left in the game the more items people are going to have and by the end it could get a little crazy depending on how many there were to start with. I am going to keep using green for rule related comments =) Oh yeah, my rank totally works too!
  20. Only 12 hours to go to put night actions in. Make sure you get them in! It's kinda important tonight. Edit: 2 hours remaining.
  21. So I somehow didn't hear that this had been rescheduled and had actually happened till now. But here is the alloy of law hangout. Edit: nevermind, Claincy being overtired and forgetful. Somehow I saw the old one again and forgot. Just ignore me. So that this post has some substance again, the third part of the WoC cover evolution is up.
  22. Only the first two people to tell me got breath, that was the rule I set out when I first mentioned it. I kinda expected you to get it, tineye high-five!
  23. They had to cancel it and are yet to reschedule it. You can ask questions here though. They also released the draft rules for pistol dueling for the alloy of law supplement. They have also posted one of the early cover sketches on their facebook page to continue on the cover art evolution posts. If it is, it is in the Justice like Ash part of the book. I haven't read that as I will be playing it. And that's all I've got for now =)
  24. Night 8: Are The tap room at the Green Potato was filled with whispered conversations. Both the Hallandrens and Idrians knew that the end of the ordeal was growing close, soon they would find and kill the last of the Pahn Kahl and return to the long delayed negotiations and they both wanted to make sure the negotiations ended in their favour. Finally votes were cast, and Summon and Aodan held a debate across the taproom about who the remaining Pahn Kahl could be. It didn't seem to change anyone's mind however and the votes continued to stack up for Ver. It occured to everyone that they hadn't seen Ver apart from at meals for quite some time, perhaps he was a Pahn Kahl who was trying to remain unnoticed. Though, they had to admit, this was rather different to how he had behaved originally. All the same they trooped up to his room and rapped on the door. There was no response, so they tried again calling out his name. When Ver still failed to respond Aodan broke down the door and they crowded in to see Ver lying on his bed, sound asleep. "Well, I guess that makes things easier." Aodan said and stabbed Ver through the heart. He turned to the waiting crowd and said "I think that does it." and went to bed, confident for that moment that the danger was past. It wasn't till later when they finished searching Ver's room and found some very strange other-worldy objects, but nothing to indicate he was a Pahn Kahl, that they realised that the Pahn Kahl had escaped their grasp yet again.
