  1. Well, as cold-hearted as it sounds, that was a reasonably good day 1 as day 1's go. It would have been much better if we had hit a spiked, but that's a really rare occurrence on day 1. But we did get a remarkable amount of information from the day and, again as cold-hearted as it sounds, at least we didn't lose one of the more important roles. Sorry to see you go though A Smart Guy. (Pst Meta, your updated player list is missing the update )
  2. While I don't appreciate the allomantic power as much, I'm pretty sure I'd pick Zinc. My brain is my main strength after all.
  3. It did! Maybe I should have bumped this thread when I finished it.
  4. When you're brother makes you a pair of wooden plaques with the iron and steel symbols for Christmas because he knows how much you love mistborn.
  5. For the reasons that have already been outlined quite well I am retracting my vote from Dom now that he has posted. As we still have a couple of hours to go, I'm going to continue doing what I've been doing for now. Macen, you haven't posted since recruitment but you were online yesterday. Care to explain why and share any insight you may have?
  6. Eolhondras's explanation does make sense as a ploy, though it could have been executed better and as I said before I don't *think* it would have been a great strategy for the spiked to try. So I don't think he is spiked, but I will maintain a very healthy amount of suspicion until a seeker can vet him. I'm not sure about Hero to be honest. I think that he hasn't been particularly helpful, but I could say the same of other people and from memory his current stance is pretty well in line with his normal one. I don't know how things have changed recently but back when I was last playing his stance was a reasonably popular opinion and frankly I don't think it's an unreasonable opinion. But I personally do not like waiting on seekers to build networks, if they get killed or make a mistake we can be back to square one far too easily and even if they don't, having the information to help them pick their targets can make them much more effective. I'm not keen on lynching him based largely on him advocating a strategy that I disagree with and stating his case somewhat poorly in his first post. From memory the spiked haven't advocated the stance Hero is any more than the villages in the past so I'd like a little more evidence before condemning him. As I don't have much in the way of other solid suspicions at the moment I will leave my vote on Dom for the time being in the hopes that it encourages him to post. All the same, at the moment I think we should be keeping a close eye on Elohondras, Hero, perhaps Ashiok, Wilson and Myself and everyone who has been fairly silent up to this point. I need to go sleep now, I'll be working tomorrow and the day finishes at 5pm here so I don't know for certain if I'll be able to post again till after then, but I'll try to keep up with the thread and do more if I can.
  7. Retracting my vote for Joe now that he has posted and given a reason for his absence and instead moving my vote to Dom for the same reasons while we are learning more about the whole Eolhondras situation.
  8. There's no special reason behind this, I've just been out of the game for 6 months and it turns out that my memory of the strategies and reasoning isn't as solid as I thought it was Having reread those reasons, past me has convinced future me and I'll shift back to my old stance. Thanks for bringing that up Kas (I do think that I was a little more aggressive in some of those later posts than I would have liked. :/) My gut says that Eolhondras isn't spiked. The chance of a set of messages like this actually bearing fruit seems fairly low and painting a target on yourself for a low chance of finding a tineye seems a bad plan. True it seems a bad plan whether he is a villager or a spiked, but if he was spiked I think some of the other spiked would have pointed out the flaws in his plan. Unless they're trying to wipe out the tineyes altogether to prevent PMs, which is a difficult plan to pull off given that there are probably 2-3 tineyes and even then the odds that he would get all of them are terrible. I just don't see the tradeoff of a spiked being worthwhile to them this early in the game. I think it is more likely that he is a villager and this was a poorly thought-through plan. I dunno, I'm not convinced. I think the best case for the spiked with this plan would be that they discovered the identity of a single tineye in exchange for losing one of their members. If Eolhondras is a spiked tineye that would change the equation somewhat. Even then it seems like a rather brash and risky action. My feeling at the moment is that he isn't, but I'm less than certain. We still have several hours left for more information to come up and for Eolhondras to speak up, so for now I'm going to shift my finger pointing into an actual vote for Joe. He has been online but he hasn't posted and I still have plenty of time to change it if circumstances change.
  9. Clancy rested in his room at the tavern, absentmindedly fiddling with his good luck charm as he thought. A murder! By itself it would have been bad enough, but coupled with the incoming koloss horde and the destruction of the barracks the situation held a disturbing resemblance to the tragic tale that kept swimming around in his head. Where had he heard it? Clancy normally prized his memory but for some reason he couldn't quite work out where that particular tale had come from. Sighing, Clancy stowed his good luck charm and left his room to join the other villagers. Whether the story had any meaning or not, one thing was clear, they would need everyone's help if they wanted to save the village, and Clancy would do his part. Entering the tap room Clancy looked around, studying the other villagers. He noted with dissatisfaction that an unfortunately large number seemed too deep in their own thoughts (or their mugs) to contribute to the discussion. Choosing one of them Clancy called out across the taproom, "It seems we have a bad alloy on town, Joe would you like to share any wisdom you might have with us?" RP aside, I'm not planning on actually voting for anyone today, we don't know enough yet to have any reasonable idea. However I am a firm proponent of the school of thought that says we should still be throwing around questions, thoughts and accusations so we can gather the information that we need. As I don't have any strong suspicions yet I will start with someone who hasn't posted since recruitment, so do you have any thoughts so far Joe?
  10. One other word of advice to tineyes. "There's always another secret." Many (if not all) of my tineye messages had multiple secrets, some far more subtle than others. So even though some people worked out the obvious ones no-one came close to getting them all, including the one that hinted to my identity. So when I wanted to prove myself to be the tineye it was extremely easy but no-one was able to peg me just by some light analysis of the messages.
  11. With 28 players and only 9 powers I think we can be certain that every power will be represented and that there will be double ups of some (if not most or all) of the powers. Clancy sat in the tavern tavern with the others, nursing a mug of ale. He maintained a calm front, but inside he was terrified: fighting the koloss had already seemed a hopeless task, and now they knew that there was at least one person inside the town who wanted them to lose. The situation reminded Clancy of a story he had heard long ago (though he couldn't quite recall where) about a situation very similar to this. Now might not be the best time to mention it though, everyone was badly shaken by the loss of the barracks, and the story didn't end well. Clancy shivered and took another pull on his ale.
  12. That works fine. Welcome to the party, we're all gonna die!
  13. If there are two tineyes and it comes out as Hero and I we're gonna be a tad suspicious Nah, not now. I don't think it's worth delving into the reasons why.
  14. Wow, been a whole year since that first game 0_o ... I really want to play again. I know I shouldn't with the amount of irl stuff I have going on, but still...Ok, fine, I'm in. Time to revive Clancy the (totally not spiked) storyteller. (I'll pop some rp in later.) And if I'm a tineye again, someone is going to die, probably Clancy.
  15. You could also try to talk any local game stores around you into backing
  16. Refresh more often!
  17. Funded! Stretch goal time
  18. I managed to get one of the original sets, and I've been wishing I got more than one ever since, so I'm very likely to back it. I don't think I'll have too much trouble finding a few Aussie friends amongst my MAG groups who are happy to split the cost of one of the international 6-packs. For anyone interested, this is what the last lot looked like: Edit: Just for clarity, the dice don't look exactly the same as the new ones. The new ones look cooler imo (Take a look at the kickstarter video that's now up to get a better look at the new ones.)
  19. The issue is that we actually know very little about what happened immediately after the ascension. Most of what I can remember comes from the steel ministry's teachings which means it could be anywhere from slightly inaccurate to a complete fabrication, including the whole thing about the nobles being those who supported him. Getting some WoB on this stuff could be very nice.
  20. I'm back. (ish, kinda, I still probably won't be posting tons, but some :) )

  21. A couple of quick notes, though these are just from memory so it is possible that I am misremembering. The quote about 1 in 10,000 skaa having allomancy actually referred specifically to skaa with noble blood in their near ancestry: I have a feeling that someone else in the book mentioned that they usually had to have noble blood in the past 4 generations which fits with "near" but it isn't too important and I could be misremembering anyway. With those numbers the number of skaa mistings in Luthadel actually seems remarkably high. But I guess Luthadel would have a higher concentration of skaa mistings due to the corruption and thieving possibilities, and the presence of more of the high nobility with stronger allomantic bloodlines (so I suspect that half-breeds that were born in Luthadel would, on average, be more likely to have allomancy.) Regarding the genetic differences from what I remember: -they were real, TLR put them in place while holding the power of the well of ascension -Noble men tended to have fewer children and skaa tended to have significantly more (though this is definitely in part a social effect) -I *think* that there was something about Noblemen being taller and fairer on average and skaa tending to be a bit shorter and stockier -Aside from allomantic potential the differences in genetics had been largely negated by the time of the books by interbreeding over the preceding 1000 years. I think this was from an annotation but I really don't remember which one and I wasn't able to find it with a quick search. (If I come across it later I'll edit it in or add a new post.) So take the above with a pinch of copper.
  22. And it's appreciated
  23. We don't. It has never been ruled out as a possibility, but they definitely have plans for more mistborn supplements before they even think about doing other cosmere worlds. However, there are some pretty decent fan-made rules for Aons, Shardblade and shardplate and awakening. http://steelministry.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=722
