  1. *sighs quietly*. Sorry I didn't end up voting during day 2 despite my insistence that we needed to be actively debating and voting. I do recognize the inconsistency. I'm in the last two weeks of the Uni semester and I have a lot of major assignments and projects due so I am finding it difficult to get on much. I'll make sure not to miss a vote again though. @Mailliw73, Ok. No worries. =)
  2. It took me around 2-3 hours to get it up to scratch when the rep levels initially changed to the current ones. But there was a lot less information to gather then and I have no idea how many times I have updated the list since. There are pages of replies in that thread of people giving me information on the boundaries and ranks as they discovered them. So really it was quite the community effort It's much easier now, I only have to update it every few days. It sounds like you put a good effort into your list, let me know if you noticed anything that I got wrong I suppose that Hoid would note how much people value timing
  3. I'm going to keep this short because I really really ought to be in bed. It's 3am here. Regarding suspicions of Spenril, certainly possible. It would be a very daring move for a GB to make, but it is a daring move regardless. I would be far from certain of his guilt, but he should definitely be watched closely. Grellin. I highly doubt the GB would use such a basic tactic. I would have expected something like that in the first couple of games but by now people have hopefully realized that that strategy backfires far more often than it works. And yes yes, they could be aware of this, and hence did it knowing that we would expect them not to do it etc etc.) Grellin could be a GB, but I would place the odds against it. Lightsworn panda To be honest Meta I reckon half the players in the game figured you might be attacked mate. I don't think that is very suspicious. So I was wondering who would be the first to start casting suspicion on me. It was pretty inevitable with how blunt I was with my arguments. I'm honestly uncertain how to respond to this because there isn't really anything to argue against. You have taken my actions that could very well just be me arguing my point and decided that I could well be trying to do something crafty and complicated. While I admit to loving plotting and complicated schemes this seems a good example of how you can make absolutely anything sound like signs of their hidden evil nature If you remember back in Game 2 I was similarly outspoken. As a point of fact I was killed off for arguing in essentially the same way I am now, I've just been making my arguments a little bit better this time round. So I am arguing in a way that has gotten me killed off before, and is beneficial to the villagers. Honestly that seems kind of stupid if I was a GB, the risk just doesn't balance out. I could as easily suggest that you were playing a wounded gazelle gambit to get yourself trusted and in control. I do not think that is the case, but the amount of evidence for that is roughly equal to what you are basing your suspicions on me off. On a different note, wonderful. If I was right in calling out Jim Bob Dirt and he turns out to be a GB I might well be killed for it. Truly wonderful I know that pointing this out doesn't really help me at all. But I find it amusing and somewhat surprising that I am not included on this list I do have some other thoughts to share, but I really, really, need to go sleep. I'll post more tomorrow. Sorry if any of that is too rambling or incoherent. Goodnight all.
  4. Oh. I did not. Well that would have made it exceptionally easy instead of just really easy. That kind of takes the fun out of searching for posts actually =( No challenge.
  5. So you know, I took that as a challenge. Unfortunately it wasn't much of one at all. I found your newer one in 30 seconds flat and the older one was barely harder. Not as hard as you might think, especially given how early you joined the site it was actually very easy. And now I realize that that could appear somewhat creepy. It's just really easy to track down certain old posts on 17s.
  6. I've updated the OP to contain all the relevant links and information. @Meta (or other mods) The discussion here seems to have wound down so feel free to close this when you get a chance. Thanks for combining threads etc during the game and helping it run smoothly That lasted a month and a half....wow....these things do take a while =P
  7. I just want to suggest that you are seriously downplaying her problems. Bad parenting kind of caused them but mental problems of that nature are a lot more serious than that. Realistically she would still be struggling with the effects of that for many many years. Probably her whole life, at least to some degree. I'm speaking from experience here, that kind of thing doesn't fix fast, it takes years. :/ Also, just fyi, from how you are referring to "let it go" I get the feeling that you are unaware of the subtext of the song. It isn't just a inspirational release song. It also has very strong themes of loneliness, fear etc throughout the song. Just take a read of this analysis. The song is actually far better than it seems the first time you hear it. And it was pretty dang good to begin with
  8. -Feather, at the start of chapter 56 Heh. There wasn't any chance of that
  9. You saved some for me right? It would be a little cold by now, but it could be reheated.
  10. Dang. But we can now be near certain that the GB have a reverser which is very important information. I want to start this by saying that I find your assumption that I am accusing randomly mildly offensive. I have clearly stated why I voted for you and it has nothing to do with chance. I will try to put this as clearly as I can: There are a couple of different levels on which you can play this game or schools of thought on how to play. One level is where you rely heavily on the spying roles and look at who voted for people who turn out to be innocent and who voted for people who turned out to be GB. Players following this school of thought/playing on this level tend not to vote unless they are reasonably certain of their target hoping to avoid killing innocents as much as possible. For someone following this school of thought lynching someone on the first day is indeed useless. The other way to play involves gathering as much information as possible and using it not just to try to understand and sort through players actions, but also to consider what they say, how they act and how that contrasts with how they have acted in the past. Furthermore this playstyle involves figuring out how people are attempting to manipulate others and why and using that to sort out their alignment and roles. To someone playing on this level the information we gained from the discussion and voting today was extremely useful. Jim Bob Dirt: (2) Fnorf, Tors, Sprenil: (0) Tion, Tors Pailan: (0) Awes Tors: (2) Tion, Pailan, Joe Jain: (1) Wurum, Xanas Macen: (0) Xanas This list tells us a lot, as do the arguments that were made that aren't shown in this simple list. Am I saying that I now know who at least 1 GB is? No of course not. However for everyone who chooses to look into it there is a wealth of information here that will be extremely useful in the days to come. If we hadn't started throwing accusations around we would have nothing to go on at all and who the GB killed tonight would give us no more information than that that person wasn't a GB. Now it could be quite interesting. Now to respond directly to what you said: Of course arbitrary accusations aren't reliable. But if it leads to arguments and discussion it does give us the information we need to make better accusations. However, the accusations so far (at least some of them, mine included) have been far from arbitrary. Examples of information: Somebody proposes a plan for finding information. -information Aspren encourages everyone to kill him. -information Somebody opposes the plan for gathering information. -information Who does and does not vote for Aspren. -information etc Your original post that made me vote for you: "No point". No point in gathering information? No point in trying to draw out the GB? If the nobles stay passive in this game the GB will almost certainly win. Unless we actively seek out information through accusations and voting we are completely reliant and the people with spying roles to learn anything and the odds of winning through that are very poor. This statement you made is arguing against gathering information and trying to spread the feeling that voting at all is pointless. Whether lynching someone or not is worthwhile is something very open to debate. Whether voting and accusing people to gather information is worthwhile is a different story. Attempting to reduce the amount of information gathered benefits the GB immensely, hence I voted for you. I never said "randomly" select someone. I said use logical reasoning to pick out people who have acted in a way that could be suspicious, then accuse them and observe what happens. That is completely different. "Investigate". What do you think we are doing? The only other way to investigate someone beyond discussing your thoughts with others and throwing accusations is to use special items, of which there are few that directly provide the user information and what they do provide is highly limited. With that logic anyone without some means of spying should sit back and wait till the people who do come forward and that is never going to work unless the game balance is horribly off. It isn't a straight "they opposed this plan" or "they supported this GB or lynched this innocent". It is a piece of information that you take and consider based on what else they have said and done thus far and in previous games and you use it to form suspicions. It sucks that we lost Tors. But we are still in a better situation now than if we had twiddled our thumbs all day. RP coming later, if I get time.
  11. Huh?..OH. Heh. Upvote for you sir.
  12. My Eyes! Colours! My Eyes! ; ) I use colours for reasons. They actually make my posts easier to read if you know what I am doing. Except for the white text. I suppose that doesn't make it easier to read so much, but the other colours do!
  13. If we do not discuss we are essentially giving them free kills. The only way we can reliably hunt them down is through discussion, voting and analysis. Watching how people defend themselves and who else speaks out for or against them or someone else gives us masses of information that is exactly what we need to detect the Ghostbloods. The initial vote is the impetus for this discussion. I disagree and here is why: 1) I find it highly doubtful that more than a couple of people at most have multiple items at this stage of the game. So if the GB stabby stabby someone they are virtually guaranteed to be getting a maximum of 1 item anyway. Later in the game this could be important, but not yet. 2) At the moment we have very little knowledge as to who is likely a GB and who isn't so it would be a roughly 20-25% chance that you would name a GB as your heir. By tomorrow night we should have a far better foundation to guess who we might be able to trust. Then it would be a good idea to secretly name an heir. This way far fewer items are likely to end up in GB hands. Hence that might not be the very best of ideas.
  14. Hey guys, with the negotiations over I am going to ask Meta (or another mod) to combine these all into the main thread, I will update all links in the OP and then it will be locked. So if there is any other comments you wanted to make get them in soon. Speak now or forever hold your peace. Or, send me a pm, that works too.
  15. The Treaty Aside from the small matter of not killing eachother the conditions are as follows: 1) A bounty will be placed on rabbit pelts, to be paid equally but both countries until such a time as rabbits no longer infest our lands. 2) Aili and Dainard are hereby elected as leaders of their respective nations to form a two part government and will henceforth govern the city. 3) A dual-national committee is to be formed to patrol and inspect the area to prevent rebels from causing such destruction and death again. 4) The current Hallandren lifeless army will be split between the Idrians and Hallandrens with a proportion of 70% held by the Idrians. In an utterly unIdrian and heretical manner : P
  16. We were talking about timezones in the Pahn Kahl doc in Sanderson Elimination Game 4 and he said he was from Western Australia then. nard1993 is a friend of mine from school//uni. So I am fairly certain he is in Australia ; )
  17. Notting of the leasting. Wassing of the enjoying.
  18. Delightful. Intentionally making your posts a little harder to read but a little more interesting at the same time. Why would you do something like that? Oh....wait....ok carry on.
  19. There is 11 and a half hours remaining in which to place votes, I'm looking at you Hallandren's. I have added the vote tallies to the OP.
  20. Pushing for exactly this got me killed night 1 in game 2. However I still stand by it Just to be clear here, just because you said this doesn't mean I trust you any more than I would have otherwise. Because you know full well that if you didn't post something along these lines I and several others would be very Suspicious of you. That said, at the moment I agree with the strategy Fnorf considered before replying. "At the moment a war is unlikely. The highprinces are too contented with fighting the Parshendi and collecting gemhearts. However, if there were more assassinations paranoi could take over and a civil war could become inevitable. After all there are only 3 reasons why someone would kill the King." Seeing the blank stares he received Fnorf elaborated. "It could be out of a desire for personal revenge, but that is unlikely. The two most likely reasons are that either the person who did it, or more likely ordered it, desires to become King themselves." Fnorf's eyes flicked to the highprinces present at the party. "Or, someone wanted to cause a civil war. If they wanted that, they would know that killing the King might not be enough to cause it. I suggest you watch your back, or pay someone else to." Fnorf nodded to Awes and Xanas and strolled off to refill his drink. This attitude is a losing strategy for the nobles. Especially in a game where pm's are very limited we need to be discussing as much as possible and the only way to get useful discussion is to throw around accusations. I am not suggesting we necessarily actually lynch someone today. But we do have to act and discuss. Doing nothing only benefits the GB. That said, and with the knowledge that it would require a second vote to cause a lynching, I will vote for Jim Bob Dirt for the time being. I would like to be on more often but atm Uni work is crippling my ability to post.
  21. I'm honoured I will have to continue Cultivating the list.
  22. Everyone has gotten used to having pms available for conspiring, but it is entirely possible to do without, you just need to have enough discussion going. It is harder, but it also lessens the chance of having pm groups controlled by the GB. Fnorf wasn't sure if he was supposed to be at the party. He was of low Dahn and Sebarial had chosen not to come so Fnorf couldn't pretend he was there to guard him. But nobody noticed or questioned a darkeyes dressed as a guard. Everyone simply assumed he had reason to be there and ignored him completely. Fnorf had hoped to enjoy a pleasant party, watch the lighteyed ladies and laugh at the King's Wit's jokes. Whether it could have been a good party or not the death of the King had undeniably ruined it. The ladies had mostly left and the King's Wit was as silent as the King. Fnorf swirled the wine in his cup as he considered what the news meant to him. The King of Alethkar assassinated, again. It could lead to chaos, turmoil and fighting. A dangerous time for everyone, especially a mercenary. Fnorf had truly enjoyed his time serving Sebarial. Good pay, good accommodation, good wine and very little fighting or chance of death. But a civil war would change all that. On the other hand. In a civil war mercenaries were highly prized. Mercenary rates increased dramatically and a man could get very rich. If he survived.
  23. I think you are misunderstanding what I meant (due to poor wording on my part perhaps). I am not saying that I think most people would feel that way, but it would effect some (particularly new) people in that way. If I know that it is doing so then in future I can see if I can find a way to improve on that without detracting from the game. If I run Nalthis again I would have no intention of removing the breath lottery, I really like how every player always has at least 1 option. However without changing that it may be possible to improve it so that the experience is better for newer players as well If he hadn't told me that it could have that effect I wouldn't have thought of it at all. Hence it is useful feedback. Any way I could improve on it I want to know =)
  24. Negotiations Phase 2 Proposals 1) "I propose we place a bounty on rabbit pelts, to be paid equally by both countries, until such a time as rabbits no longer infest our lands." +5 2) All Idrians must wear rainbow tie-dye shirts and convert to the Iridescent Tones. +10 -14 3) Aili and Dainard are the leaders of each respective nationality and form a two part government. They govern the city together. +4 4) A dual-nation committee is formed to patrol and inspect the area to prevent such rebels from causing destruction once again. +4 5) I propose that the Hallandrens and Idrians work together to create a defense plan to keep the orphanages safe. 6.1) I propose that Hallandrens and Idrians each take control of half the lifeless army. +10 6.2) I'm thinking more 70-30 in favor of Idris. +13 6.3) Lifeless remain in the control of Hallandren To vote simply state the proposal number, for or against, and the number of votes you wish to cast for it. Remember that you each have 10 and you cannot retract votes. For proposals 1-5 they will individually be passed if they have more votes for than against at the end. For proposal 6 whichever option has the most votes will be passed. Phase 2 begins and will end at 23:30 AEST / 13:30 GMT on Wednesday. Votes will not be accepted after that time. Sorry that this is late.
  25. Yeah it's from the comics, this should help explain: http://marvel.wikia.com/Infinity_Gauntlet_%28Item%29 I haven't read all the comics, not anywhere remotely near. But by some fortuitous chance I have read the Thanos/Infinity Gauntlet story.
