  1. I just think that he found it more comfortable to travel in uniform rather than plate. Or maybe he feels guilty and doesn't like wearing it more than he needs to.
  2. It makes sense to me. We know that a Shardblade cuts the Souls of living beings. We know that the spiritual body has a sort of spiritual template in the Cosmere universe and that's how Feruchemical gold and possibly Regrowth work to heal limbs that have been severed by Shardblades. (at least I believe that's the most accepted theory) If that's correct then if a blade that passes through the core of a limb servers it's spiritual aspect from the physical rendering it useless, then I don't see why cutting through the spiritual templates heart for example wouldn't also sever its connection with the physical body, resulting in death.
  3. Shardblade also kill from hitting vital organs and killing them. Hitting a vital organ has the same effect as hitting the core of a limb. We know this from when Elhokar is attacking the Chasmfiend and Dalinar thinks to himself that if he can ram his Shardblade in just right then he can stop the beasts heart or lungs.
  4. Thanks for the link. It's nice to finally know what it's supposed to sound like, I wasn't even close.
  5. I'm curious, can anyone here actually pronounce Rock's real name out loud? I've given up, every time I try I sound drunk.
  6. I've just finished "Starfall" as part of my reread and something that the female KR said stuck out to me. This to me sounds like she's referring to the Thrill, that fighting of any kind opens you up to it. That if you're not taught to defend against it, it can destroy you. That would be in line with the theory that the Thrill is of Odium. We see in the WoR preview chapters that the Thrill is the only thing that makes Sadeas feel alive anymore. Becoming an agent of Odium maybe? ========================== EDIT 1 Something else I noticed from "Starfall" that I didn't notice before. The 2 KR we see fighting both give of different colours of stormlight, I could be wrong, but I infer from this that each of the 10 different orders of Surgebinder hold Stormlight in a colour associated with the different spren their bonded to. The Female KR - Amber Stormlight The Male KR - Blue Stormlight Kaladin - White Stormlight Now we know that many more KR fall from the sky during Skyfall, and I assume that'd be a mixture of different orders as well. But for arguments sake lets just say that the was a combination of two orders that fell from the sky. If it is true that each Order gives of it's own colour of Stormlight then Windrunners would be white, and if for arguments sake lets say that Skybreakers are blue, then what Order is the female KR from (Edgedancer maybe?) If that's the case then it brings up questions. Where did they come from? How did the get to the village? Obviously the Windrunners and the Skybreakers could of done it with their shared Gravity Surge, but what of the KR from the third Order? How did she fall from the sky? Are the KR Order connected to transport able to transport others across great distances as well? Did they all just transport to above the village and let themselves fall? ADDED INFO: In Dalinars vision in Chapter 52 "A Highway to the Sun" which doesn't quite add up with the theory above. This is the vision where the Radiants give up their Shards. There's only 2 orders in this vision, the Windrunners (who glow blue) and the Stonewards (who glow amber) If my theory was correct then the male KR from "starfall" is a Windrunner and the female KR would be a Stoneward, but that doesn't make sense with Kaladin glowing white with stormlight. That got me thinking that maybe each order doesn't have it own colour, that maybe that certain orders are grouped together for a different reason and glow the same colours, either theory could be correct but neither solve the problem of Kaladin. The only explanations that makes sense to me is that as you say the ideals and move closer toward "Radianthood" or once you've said the final ideal and become a KR then the stormlight you give of changes colour. or The glow from the Shardplate doesn't have anything to do with the colour of stormlight a Surgebinder gives of. I welcome anyone elses theories that explain this. =========================== EDIT 2 Something else I've noticed this read through is the reference to maps. After Shallans fathers death they find he has an odd collection of maps, this is referenced more than once. Dalinar tells Jasnah that the first thing that the Parshendi asked him once they had learned their language was "Do you have any maps" I can't remember the exact wording but I found it a strange thing to ask. ============================= EDIT 3 During Dalinar's vision in Chapter 52 "A Highway to the Sun" around 300 KR give up their Shards and betray their spren. These 300 are only from the Windrunners and Stonewards. That made something that Tanavast said to Dalinar at the end stand out to me. As the former KR were walking away Tanavast say's "They were the first, and they were also the last" Does that mean that those 2 Orders were the only ones to betray the bond and give up their Shards? What of the other orders? What happened to them? Did giving up the Shards break the bond? if so, then why? And who were those guys waiting for the former KR in the distance? What part did they play?
  7. Don't forget that Kaladin has fought and killed an opponent with a Shardblade already using only a spear, and that was before even beginning to learn about his abilities.
  8. I don't believe this to be the case, if the spren were transformed into Blades and possessing those blades granted Surgebinding abilitys, then everyone with a Shardblade would have the potential ability to Surgebind and we just don't see that.
  9. My thoughts on Shardplate: 1. That a Surgebinder summons/instantly grows there Shardplate when they say the 4/5 ideal. 2. That the purpose of Shardeplate for the Surgebinder is twofold, 1- To act as an exoskeleton offering enhanced defence and offensive capabilities. 2- To act as a second skin to provide perfect containment for the Surgebinders stormlight. 3. That the reason Shardplate glowed for the KR is due to the second point made above, i.e. containment of stormlight. 4. That invested gemstones weren't necessary to power the Plate, that the Surgebinder could do that directly. 5. That Shardplate is of Cultivation or a mixture of Cultivation and honor (as are the bonded spren) and this is why Surgebinding granted from an Honorblade isn't compatibly with Shardplate.
  10. I would consider lies to be emotional (brought into being through consciousness) so without consciousness there wouldn't be any emotions or lies but there would still be forces of nature. (fire, wind etc.) ################# Something else to consider. Has anyone else notice that the bond between the spren and those they're bonded to seems to be different this time? We know from Wyndle that even though he's bonded to Lift that she shouldn't be able to touch him. Yet she can. We've also see evidence that Jasnah can touch Ivory. Then there's the scene where Kaladin can feel Syl's weight on his hand. So if even their bond partner isn't supposed to be able to physically feel them then why are we seeing that happening? What's changed? and what could it mean? Could the bond be stronger now, pulling the spen more into the physical realm and their partner more into the cognitive?
  11. Hmm... I don't know. One the one hand he told Gavilar that his master were the Parshendi, but on the other he was dieing at the time. He's only forbidden two things, 1)To take his own life, and 2) To give away his shard. If I'm remembering that correctly. So I would say that unless he's been specifically forbidden from revealing who his master is, then he could if he so chose.
  12. Szeth stood out enough at the feast for Jasnah to notice him, she saw him again after the balcony collapsed and he had Lashed himself to the wall. Knowing he was the one who killed her father I doubt she's likely to ever forget him.
  13. I reckon that we'll see Shallan expose the fact that she'd a Shardbearer in Chapter 7, Maybe saving Jasnah's life. At which point she'll be like, Hmm... is there something you forgot to tell me?
  14. Or maybe he was placed in bridge four by Sadea's wife as one of her spy's to get info on the bridge crew and it's leader who was causing trouble. Now that he's been freed by Dalinar he's starting change and grow.
  15. I thought so to. I thought she sounded quite like Jewel Staite. I ended up reminiscing about Firefly after listening to the recording. It'll be interesting to hear her reactions to WoR when it's released, we'll just have to be careful around the parts that mention Renarin, I was listening with headphones and my ears got quite the shock.
  16. Shallan during a mini flashback Another possible clue perhaps?
  17. Because if they were honorbound to follow him it wouldn't be honorable to escape him, or to prevent his return regardless of how they personally felt.
  18. If this were true and they were honorbound to follow him then why would they want to escape and live free from their gods? Why would they kill the king and bring war to themselves to stop him from doing something that would bring about the return of their gods? The way I've been thinking about it is if Odium returns he'll be able to take control of them somehow like Ruin did to the Koloss, and that learning Honorform would be protection, a way of breaking his hold on them. I'm not even sure I believe that their of Odium, the more I read about the Thrill the more I believe that it is of Odium and feeling it means he can exert influence on you. Could also be why to the Shin a warrior is the lowest in society, that to feel the Thrill for battle leaves you touched by Odium. It's all just speculation at this point.
  19. Ok, this is what I'm thinking after hearing what Darkness had to say to Lift about Surgebinding. What if the Heralds convinced the Knights Radiant that Surgebinding would return the Desolation and to stop that from happening they had to betray their spren to stop any more spren from bonding with humans in an effort to stop the next Desolution? What do you guys think? Feel free to pick it apart.
  20. Oh, I just got all excited rereading chapter 5 "Ideals" I can see it playing out that neither Kal or Amaram will say anything to Dalinar in the beginning to acknowledge any history/connection between them. Kal will refer to Amaram as Brightlord instead of sir to Dalinar, or to Amaram within hearing distance of Dalinar, making Dalinar suspicious, leading him to investigate and discover that Kal's slave brand is from Amarams district. The waiting to find out is a killer.
  21. I've got no evidence to support it, it's just something that I think would be cool if it did happen. About Syl, she wasn't allowed to come back. She came even though she was forbidden and risked death in doing so. That doesn't mean that more might not risk coming in the future, or that the stormfather might change his mind and allow them to come and bond to those they find honorable. How it could be possible? Well I guess it could be possible from being around and learning about honor from Kaladin just like any other member of bridge four could. Potentially.
  22. I know right. How cool would that be. Shen discovering Honorform and that would protect him from any hold Odium could have on him.
  23. Feather's going to faint when she reads this.
  24. I don't think that Shen is a Listener spy. I think that he was a genuine Parshman that didn't have any Form, just like the Listners didn't before they escaped the humans and there gods. Being that he's started to act differently I think he might of learnt Dull Form from his time spent with bridge four, and hopefully being aroulf Kaladin and bridge four he'll grow and learn more Forms. I'm hoping Honorform.
